I can't resist this one...finally won't be that bored at my mid vacations

I gave a few shots...I'm around the 2'33 on T3

I had to run the Altezza series first to get my car. 400m in 11 flat at stock settings and eats up the corners. Even at 1000 hp it grabs the road and won't let go.

I only left the track once on my first lap, and ended up 4:??. Next 2 laps were clean. This is going to be alot better than i thought.

T1 time: 41:215 wasn't paying attention to the T2-3. :dunce:

Hey, I haven't even touched the Time Trials.

My memory must be wrong cause otherwise I'm a minute behind flat-out at T2.
You probably missed the display of T2, I wouldn't beat anyone by 1 minute (unless we drive different cars).
T2 is displayed in the straight after the last square corner, T3 is displayed a minute further in the straight after the last and biggest circle before you reach the "waves".

Edit :
T2 is displayed on the straight between the hairpin and the first circle (the smallest one), not after the squares... Sorry.

After 10 extra laps, I can run a consistent 40 / 1'42 / 2'43, but also with a consistent 4-wheels-on-grass moment. I hope I can get at least one clean lap with these times.

Just wanted to clear a few things up.

1. I had to edit the post above by wellyrn so the final time he mentioned would be removed.
Sorry about that, but it clearly states in the rules what time we can and can't discuss... T Times Only! :D

2. TCS
You can use tcs.
You all should have learned by now that if we do a fully modified car, I never put setting restrictions down.
Also, if I ever do put down restrictions, I always post them in the original race thread's post.

So for this race, use tcs if you want, or don't if you do not want.

That also means you can use any settings... as long as you don't break the rules of the race everything is fine with me. :D

Now on a final note, I just want to say thanks to all the brave people that suggested a Complex String run.

Complex String has always been a favorite of mine and this week's race has managed to do what the last 2 couldn't: pull me away from Final Fantasy 7.

That's right, I put down FF7 so I could do a few laps in this car.

ATM I'm not gonna mention times really, but get this...

2 laps with final times .4 apart.
Those same 2 laps are seperated by over 2 seconds at T3.

There is plenty of time to come off, and I have a feeling that by the end of the week we will all be amazed by how fast the laps can be.

BTW, I'm feeling that a 2'25 or less is possible on this track.
If I can manage that I will come back and let you all know. :mischievous:

Until then,
-

Can I ask for your setup, kent? I have nothing to even go by... :(

Sure.
(all settings = Front/Rear)
8/12 springs
85/80 ride height
10/10 bound
10/10 rebound
1.2/1.0 camber
0/0 toe
4/4 stabilizers

24/24 brake balance

10/40/5 LSD
(Personal gearing tricks)
(btw, in this case I never touch the auto slider... Just the final drive ratio.)

1.00/1.20 down force

0 asm
5 tcs

Hope that helps everyone this week. ;)

Ran some laps with a mostly stock setting (just tweaked ride height, stablilizers, downforce, turned off ASM and lowered TCS to 1). After about 6 laps I pulled off 40/1'39/2'37 only losing the car once in both of the esses. Keeping a lap clean will be crucial in these sections, since it will be very easy to let the car fly off track.

Also, if you jump the car's tires over grass (say, in the 90 degree turn part of the track), is the lap still considered clean?

And one last thing, there's a spelling error in the first post of the thread. The car's name is spelt Altezza, not Alteeza ;)

Alright, I know there's a couple seconds that can come off in here, but here are the T Times:
T1: 0'38.627
T2: 1'37.644
T3: 2'35.408

I find it funny how I have this car doing better than the best hybrid I've driven on the track, all thanks to the setup genius of Gokents.

Sat down tonight, did about 100miles

Me too. I just didn't have the energy to start on a second lap though.

37.4/1'37.0/2'34.3 best so far. After the 100 laps of Complex String, the track and I have this kind of understanding...

But I'm doing better than the laptime wellryn didn't post - so at least I won't be beaten by at least one member of Division 3 this week... :D

Indeed, I can see a good 5-8 seconds coming off that lap overall if I drive it right. I'll run a few rounds later tonight and see what I can pull out.

Thanks for the spell check. 👍
& fixed. ;)

Also, regarding the tires over grass, corner cutting and jumping rumble strips...

First off is the rule:
2 Tires on track at all times (just part of the tire will do).

Second...

Well,
when crossing the rumble strips in "90 degree section section" make sure you do not jump both rear wheels over the grass without both front tires already on the road/rumblie.

I hope that works, but to tell the truth, I have never addressed that exact course ruling, so let me know what you all think.

For now though, go with what I have said above...

Make sure 2 wheels are on the course at all times. 👍

And thank you much Omero!

Glad the settings helped out.
Now remember, before you go and change anything, try running it by the open board audience... I'm not the only person with advice for tuning to get a better lap. ;)

Later.

Just tested 2 laps with TCS set on 2, and best clean is now 39.8 / 1:41.6 / 2:42.0.
That's still far away from the 2:34 posted above... Maybe I should consider using Kent's settings, mines look crap. (But I already gained 7 sec. on my first clean lap, if I keep practising this week...)

You know...I am enjoying this race far more than I really should be. I think Complex String, with a few of the 90* out and a few of the 270* progressive turns out and say 2 less hilly slalom turns with a few more straighter section could be one hell of a circuit in GT3, probably the best....

Got the opposite lock under control, adjusted some setting, stiffened the car up ALOT and adjusted the gears finally.....chopped 4.1 secs off my final time with a T3 of 2'38'905 on that lap. I saw a 2'36.782 T3 fly by once but blew the first hilly slalom section and flew (literally) into the guardrail. I saw a 2'37.3xx fly by as well but oddly the lap was .4 slower than my best with the 2'38.xxx T3 (lots to loose in the last section).

I've put 167 miles on this car (from 0), loving almost every minute of it, damn fun car to drive.

Will probably get at least 1-2 more sessions in, I think there is realistically 4-5 secs out there still for me until I REALLY gotta work for every .1....It's been a while since I either gave a damn or had time to spend on the weekly combo...glad to be back.

Well I finally have some respectable times to post, after numerous laps this morning.

T1: 0'37.640
T2: 1'35.831
T3: 2'33.178

This has to be one of the most fun challenges I've ever had, I just love the circuit, I don't get bored running it because there's so much variation and I really have to be alert and on my toes in every single corner. It's not designed for overtaking or realistically built into a city or anything, it's just a pure test of driving skill. I can still see about another second or so, possibly more, to come off my time.

If anyone can even come close to a 2'25 T3 I'm going to be pretty damn amazed.

a 2'25 doesn't seem that far out of the way for T3, even though I have yet to break 2'35, this track has alot of variables (the blocks section is what gets me every time. I have yet to see a perfectly clean run through there). I'm going to push for a 2'32 T3 by the end of the week. If anyone wants to take up my challenge they should get driving.

Ran a few laps today, nothing clean yet. I will try to put some time in this week but i am moving within the next few weeks and i gotta get packin.
I'll try to have some t times by tomorrow. Looks like im gonna be using Kents settings on this one. Good luck all and have fun this week:tup:.

my best lap currrently is around the 2'31.xxx on T3, a faster second than my previous T3, and ended 2 secs faster at the end of the lap, I'm so lazy to use the analyzer and start looking for the time I'm losing, I feel that it's either in the fast paced S turns at the beginning or the 90° degrees turns, because I'm almost running the same on every other sectors.

I had to get in on this one... havent run in a while and it sounded just tooo interesting....

first session yields:
37.263 // 1'34.568 // 2'30.768 -- Only one off track... and I really cannot see these 3'25's you speak of kent....

Oops! That time wasn't in the realm of competitive and also i said it wasn't clean (same as scuda I FLEW over the first hill) but i won't do it again :guilty:

I'll see you tuesday. Gonna keep my testing on the dl from now on.

Well,
Looks like I'm gonna have to go against my usual practice.

You see, in normal scenerios I only post up my times if someone has all ready matched them.
That way I encourage people to keep at it without scaring people way because they worry about not being able to do well.

So with that in mind...

Just in the first day after 2 weeks of not playing at all, I managed to go into the 2'28 range.

That was on a lap that had plenty of screw ups, so at the moment I still feel that something in the 2'25 area is possible.

Of course, for me... :grumpy:
I seriously doubt I will pull anything below 2'27.0
However, should I manage to go below 2'28 I will come back and let all of you know. :D

Till then,
Later. :D

:edit:
Then again, it is possible that I am under-estimating myself while over-estimating other racers. ;)

But if somebody doesn't post faster T times, then other people(and I) think we're pretty well off. Usually, when my lap looks fast to me I stop. If I knew there was a lot of time left, then I would try a little harder.

And anybody that reaches 2'25 will achieve God status in my book. Until then there is the Goddess position.

Guess 2'25 is possible after all, looking forward to seeing just how fast you Div 1 guys can go then.

Just took 2.8 seconds off my time, so I'm pretty pleased:

T1: 0'38.029
T2: 1'35.873
T3: 2'31.550

I've found 8 seconds since I started this morning, so I'm pretty pleased. I'm off to university shortly and evenings are FPS time with my friends, so I won't run again until tomorrow morning when I awaken, but I'll certainly keep at it. There's clearly more time out there.

Hi,
I just finished a couple of clean laps,
T1=35.7
T2=1:33.7
T3=2:29.8
I can still see s*itloads of time here,I hope
to find it in the next couple of days.
Had T3=2:29.2,but flew off near the end of the hills.
later,

alright, now I know that I need to do a little racing (confound it, I have to mow the lawn first! :irked:). It's looking like my 2'35 T3 just ain't gonna cut it. I'll see y'all on the finish line.

Hey,

It's been a long time i want to do a race on complex string, i'm the lucky one, juste did a pass on Gtplanet to see what's going on. COMPLEX STRING with the Altezza 👍. Thanks Kent...

I did a few lap last night, was supposed to go sleep but when i saw that...
And a few more this afternoon.
T1 37.260
T2 1.35.569
T3 2.31.916

There is alot to gain in every corner of that long track.
