Hey, i'm crossing the line around 197 to 200 using shortened gear, it depends on how you take the curve befor the long strait, when i pass it well i shift to 5th just at beggining of white and red things on the left.(excuse my english)

Slalom 5th all the way(but hard to do clean) Best T1 26.0xx
Square and circle is where i think i loose most of my time, i'm having hard time to get back to 29.5xx

I'm in 2nd for the 90s, maybe 3rd could work?

I use 5th for the "snake".

What's the part with the circles called?

I haven't looked at my top speed, I think it must be 214mph.

- I find I'm destroying the cones on the opening slalom and in the 90* esses, but I'm not shortcutting any of the turns. I've had a few where I've had to go slowmo, pause it and check every camera angle to be sure but none of the times have I been shortcutting and every time were the cone still there it'd be wedged under my front diffuser.
By "90* esses" do you mean the series of square turns? I don't see how it's possible to hit those cones without having three wheels off

haha, easy enough to do.

It seems I was a bit off with the cones on there, you can come close and still be legal but you can't swipe them (at least without parking your rear wheels on the curb and pointing perpendicularly at a cone), but on the opening slalom you certainly can.

I'm running 5th for the opening slalom, I get through with an average around the 220km/h mark. For the 90* section I'm using third all the way now, the car has enough power to pick up when the revs go low, there's less wheelspin this way and no 2nd gear limit on acceleration, it's gained me about 1.5 seconds.

The circles are an interesting challenge, I'm using full throttle with a variable amount of braking to balance the car through it smoothly, seems to be working well.

Don't know how much more running I'll get to do today but I'll certainly try.

My thumb has a callous developing on it and hurts to touch anything, I've run well over 1200k around the circuit. I've had -1.5 second laps I've utterly slaughtered through poor lines and understeer, so I'm gonna pack it in for the day. There's still seconds out there but I'm not gonna get at them.

T1: 0'37.259
T2: 1'33.733
T3: 2'29.232

People are hiting 200 at the starting line? No wonder I'm having trouble keeping up with you guys. I'm thinking a little bit of gear-tuning is in line, I'll see y'all when I get everything sorted out gear-wise.
Yesterday I saw a 202 mph on the starting line, but that doesn't help. I couldn't do any clean lap and I'm still around 2'41 on T3 ; though I don't really understand where I'm losing that much time.
I'm in 4th or 5th in the first slalom, no gear seems better than the other one (105 - 130 mph / 170 - 210 km/h)
Then in 3rd through the 90°s (45 - 50 mph / 75 - 85 km/h) : that's I suppose where lie the 10 missing seconds to get the same T3s as everybody else.
I'm not using the tranny trick, and I still run with the default settings.

Finaly get a time that i'm happy with. It takes time to use to it and pull regular great time.

T1: 0.35.5xx
T2: ???
T3: 2.28.4xx

Finaly take the square section in 3rd.

I'll try to put some more time, it's so much fun, can't stop when i start...

GoKents, when do i get my division class ??? Thanks

flat-out
I couldn't do any clean lap and I'm still around 2'41 on T3 ; though I don't really understand where I'm losing that much time.

The problem with this track is that it is SO technical that there is LARGE amounts of time to be gained (or lost) on EVERY turn.

My best T times are as follows and I'm still cutting about 1.5 seconds off every 5 laps or so. It takes a long time to learn this track. Maybe my split times will make you feel better. I'm a back of the pack Division 1 guy (maybe I should be in Div 2).

37.914
1'37.598
2'36.079

My first clean lap T3 was around 2'53.xxx. I've shaved 17 seconds off of my first clean lap so far. :boggled:

Keep at it! :dopey:

Excellent combo AND settings Kent! 👍

Sorry, thought I included your division in the reply to your qualification time.

Did I get a reply to you?

With times like what you are pulling, on top of the fact that you submitted the 2nd fastest qualification time, I would say you are a division 1 driver.

I will put up the official post in the driver classes thread shortly.

Also, I am still amazed by you guys.

I can't get into 3rd gear in the 90*s
I can't get over 200mph on the straight
I can't carry 5th through the slolam.

The odd thing is, I changed my tranny to fit each one of those and nothing fit together.

If I could get up past 200 on the straight, none of the other gears fit the course.
If I could carry 5th through the slolam, 3rd just wasn't fast enough to run the squares.

So for now it looks like my tranny is my worst problem.

However, it's no big deal.

I am sure that I will get to see these laps at the end of the week.

btw, beru, do you have replay support for your laps?

What ever the case, all of you should always remember to save your replays.

Then again, at this level of OLR I doubt any of you need to be reminded of keeping replays. ;)

I will be back later today, hopefully with news on the progress of my laps.
However, until then...
later. :D

, Yesterday I saw a 202 mph on the starting line [...] and I still run with the default settings.
The default settings on the car aren't horrible, but I'm guessing you could stand some more downforce. 1.00/1.15 might be a good place to start.

Running 38.2 1:37.6 2:35.3 clean, so far.

Just did another couple laps and shaved another 1.5 seconds off my overall time.
Splits were:
38.464 (PB = 37.9)
1'36.821 (PB = 1'37.5)
2'34.549 (PB = 2'36.079)

Line was sloppy as hell, but I never let off when I got a little out of shape and I was always on the gas early exiting turns.

Sorry, no i don't have any replay support. But i always save my replay. Like i said i use to play on Gtplay and it's one website that is realy hard on verification time. I always sent perfect time. I don't see any good reason to cheat against me.

Yes you reply to me, but i didn't toutgh to go look at it.

I may see if i can buy one of those. I think that be a good thing to finaly have.

thanks again.

On the slalom it should be more like 125mph - 145+mph. For the 90 degree corners, I get around 50-60mph turning on the corners. My lowest is 40mph if I screw up and I get up to 75mph on the mini straights.

Dude, you must listen to me and do exactly what I say. ;)

Go get in your Altezza and run laps until you get the t1/t2 split right.

35.6

With that on the front of my best laps we would have already seen 1'26.

Think about this... ;)

My best lap that was ruined...
26.6 -> 1'32.3* -> 2'27.8
( " * " indicates an approximate)

So yeah dude!
Go get that lap right. 👍 :D

I am sure you could break into the low 2'27's

Now, I know it's just an issue of time for you, so good luck.

As for me... I'm gonna steal your time for racing :mischievous: Then your car :dunce: Then hopefully your skills. :sly:

Ok, so I will only get away with your time for racing, but that should still give me a chance at 2'27.???

Well, at least I hope to get into the 2'27 range.
No big deal though. :indiff:

This is the sort of track/ car combo that I will run again in my free time, so there will be another day for this after this week is over. :D

💡
I'm going to go back to the real world...
Then I'm gonna try to get some racing in.

Catch you guys later today, or just next time I walk by the PC.
Until then,
-

I can, I can, I can.
...but you're still 14 seconds faster than me on T3 :grumpy:
If only it was a monthly series, I would perhaps have time enough to practice seriously. I ran between 15 and 20 laps this week, including the laps that were already ****ed up before T1.

I'll try your settings tomorrow, and then submit my best time.

BTW, I'm off on holidays for 2 weeks, and I still don't know if I'll be carrying my PS2 along. Perhaps I won't be with you for weeks 77 and 78.

Sorry to hear that you will not be around. Have fun on the trip though!

Now I just want to mention, I really think you should try those settings.
They are really just a starter set for the car (especially since I've all ready moved onto a variant that feels better).
But still, try them I really do think they will help.

They are loosely based on the settings of a dozen other cars from a dozen other races.
However, they work well and with that low camber up front there is some real slow speed turning ability.

Any way, have fun on your trip, and give those settings a try.
I mean, 14 seconds is quite a bit of time... I imagine the set up and gearing could probably help you. 👍
Good luck!

Your setup did really help. Although I stuck with a stock gearing, it still flys. I manage 2'33.xxx and im a divison 3 racer, I dont think I would be able to get that fast, if i hadn't use your setup.

Its really great.

Thanks a ton.

It feels really good to know that I can help the racers.

I mean, don't get me wrong, simply running with you guys is great.
But helping you all to become better racers... that is a feeling, that unlike winning, will last longer than just one week.

Says you, I'm still sniffing a Div win for once ^_^

There's something to be said for helping people but I still wouldn't do it for a living.

I'm gonna rest my thumbs at university for another 5 hours yet but I'm gonna go for one last try this evening when I get home.

Sorry, my bad.

I didn't mean to trivialize the efforts of any one chasing a win, and I didn't mean to do that for any of the wins people have earned in the past.

I know you weren't getting bent out of shape or anything, but I still felt an apology was in order. :D

Plus, you are in a sense right.
Helping is nice, but you know what, if I spent more time trying to help and less time trying to win, I probably wouldn't do very well from week to week.

Well,
I'm gonna head back to the race (not the weekly, but the ALMs that is being aired on speed as I type).

Catch you guys a little later, or maybe even pretty soon if I can get a few laps in.

Until then,
later. :D

I think I'll will be running some hot laps after this week.

GoKents, do you think that those settings will work for the Viper, C5R, and/or the Supras?

Actually, yes I do. 👍

Start with those on any rear wheel drive car and you could be good to go.

Hopefully you will be able to take advantage of them.

Good luck.

As for me, still haven't gotten to run laps yet, but my racing television shows are over, so it's to the game I go. :D

When the race start, you guys where talking about 2.25.xxx. I was like... Maybe but...
I saw the possibility today.

I did 2.26.109 and stupidly crash it in the up and down curves. With that time my T1 was a low 36.xxx and i did some 35.5xx, so 2.25 is realy possible. I think some super driver can pull 2.24.xxx

That is possible with the help of everybody here, like the square section i'm now doing it on 3rd speed (not using the brake, running between 60 to 65mph) and the circle i'm working it with full gas and slowing me down with the brake. I won so much time like that. Thanks eagle 👍

So thanks to everyone, it's something i like about GTP. :)

I wish to have more time to try pull that clean lap i'm looking at.

hehe, no one took it as such you big softy. You said it yourself, I wasn't getting bent out of shape.

I only meant being a teacher in the real world, like a school teacher. If you get to pick and choose the people you teach (like my tennis coach and I do) then it's pretty cool and rewarding.

GoKents

Man I wish they aired ALMS stuff here.

Thanks eagle 👍

My pleasure, I figured, if it works for Michael Schumacher, it can't be that bad ;)

You know, even if you don't meet the deadline for a weekly event, there's nothing stopping you running more laps. Just because the WRS Week 76 challenge ends tomorrow doesn't prohibit you from seeking out that 2'24, it may not count for a division win or anything but it should matter to you personally that you're able to do it, and that's what this is all about.

I've decided I'm done though, I picked up another assignment this afternoon and I have a clan match I'll probably get called on for this evening, and tomorrow is a 13 hour day University wise, so I'd say my time is up. My time will be submitted after this post and whatever happens, happens.

I think a 2'23 is possible, but that's for maniacs. The T1 would have to be about 35.4 and the t2 ~1'30.5 or maybe less.

Time submitted. Probably will be holding down the bottom of div 2 again this week.

T1: 38.077
T2: 1'38.297
T3: 2'36.907

This track really takes a lot of commitment to get a good time. Once I had crossed a certain time barrier, I was psychologically happy enough with my time that I couldnt bring myself to run faster in order to improve it.

Good fun, see you next week.
