You know I have to say that I'm utterly confused by what division everyone is in, whenever I go to check to see who I'm directly racing, I either can't find their name, or they're in 3 different divisions (cinjun8)...

That's why I put my division in my sig ;)

Made 5 more laps tonight, improved my T3 to 2'35, but I'll have the house to myself tomorrow (until my driving lesson where I get to drive on the freeway :D ), so I'll turn on some Van Halen, and blow this track away!

This brings up the question: should I drive the division I was qualified in or the division my times have been under for the past ocuple weeks? I think I'll go with the first...

Hey guys, I haven't race in this series in a long time, and i decided to start with this week!

I have only particpated in one, and i was placed in 3rd class divison and got last place. Well my racing skills have improved since when boom was still in control.

Im not that good and right now after 2 lap and using Gokents great setup I have gotten T-times like these:

38.405
1’37.289
2’35.539

This is only after 2 laps and I will continue and try to tune the setup as much as possible.

I actually think I might stand a chance.

Gokents I dont have to reregister right? I have only participated in one week series and it was when Boom was in charge.

I am shaving 11 second off my first lap with my second lap!

Click on mygtplanet above, then at the left click edit avatar, then at the end of that page you'll see custom avatar...well, you can either upload an avatar from the web or upload a pic from your computer(image must be less than 100x100 pixels or 20kb).

Hope I've helped

Hey guys,

Can somebody help me? how to put a custom avatar ???

Thanks
You can't have a custom one until you've got over 100 posts. Under 100, you have to chose one from the list.

All the info you need is here

Also, regarding the tires over grass, corner cutting and jumping rumble strips...

First off is the rule:
2 Tires on track at all times (just part of the tire will do).

Second...

Well,
when crossing the rumble strips in "90 degree section section" make sure you do not jump both rear wheels over the grass without both front tires already on the road/rumblie.

I hope that works, but to tell the truth, I have never addressed that exact course ruling, so let me know what you all think.

For now though, go with what I have said above...

Make sure 2 wheels are on the course at all times. 👍
Seems to me like we could avoid a lot of ambiguity, squinting, and tedious replay viewing by using the cones as the "judge" in the square corners, and also in the square chicane near the end. This gives a little more room in the turns than the traditional "two wheels on" rule, but it takes out all the interpretation and guesswork.

Running around 2:38 so far.

Indeed, it would be so much easier.
However, it would also remove something else from the race... The rules!

Hope it's not too hard on you.
But 2 wheels on track at all times.

The cones don't always mark what a clean lap is.
In one place you can cut the grass in a corner without hitting a cone; in the next spot you can slap the cones by going an inch into the sand.

The 2 wheel rule remains intact.

Not trying to be mean either so please don't take it the wrong way.

As for me... making progress, seeing low 2'29s with some regularity.
However, 2'25 might not be possible after all.

Maybe if Arco comes to the WRS?
Seeing his vertigo and S2000 times at racing line makes me believe he could do well in our mighty fine Altezza LM.

Oh and on a parting note...
Glad my setup helped a bit for some of you. :D
I've made changes to it, but for now I can't post it... maybe later though.

Till then,
-

0'38.405 = 0'37.656
1’37.289 = 1'35.811
2’35.539 = 2'33.487

My total time is 5 second difference! This is about my 10th lap! Its clean!

Im going to go race some more. I wonder im going to able to compete. Is this an average time for a person in 3rd division.

I haven't watched the times that closely, but I'd be extremely surprised if that wasn't a competitive 3rd div time.

Well I already turned in my time. I couldn't do better so I decided to just turn it in.

I hope I do well.

I'm making my way down to the 2'29s. I believe 2'27s could be possible with a good lap. 2'26s and 2'25s are reserved for CS experts.

Edit: Looks like 2'26 could be touched with a good lap.

I'm improving on the first section. I'm getting some 2'28s now.

Thanks for the info HeinrichII and daan,

The costum one will come in the futur.

By the way i'm in the 2.29 and working on my qualification time to see wich division i will be.

Tonight i will do some more lap. So much fun on the complex... 👍

Actually it provides less room - I find I'm destroying the cones on the opening slalom and in the 90* esses, but I'm not shortcutting any of the turns. I've had a few where I've had to go slowmo, pause it and check every camera angle to be sure but none of the times have I been shortcutting and every time were the cone still there it'd be wedged under my front diffuser.

Anyone else noticed the cones don't appear in your rear vision mirror? Anyone except Famine notice that actually?

I hit the 2'30 range last night, there's another second to come off, I just haven't put it together smoothly yet.

Pulled off a 2'34.0xx today, and there is still gobs of time out there for me, I hope to get something like a 2'28 or 27 for my submission. The key to a fast lap appears to be a perfect line through the esses, lots of time will be gained if your line is flawless through the esses.

Also, don't underestimate the first section. I used to restart if I got over 37.5, then 37, now I think ~36.6

Try 36.2 :D

I haven't hit it yet, but 36.6 is already on my best lap.

btw, that same best lap...

36.6-> 1'32.6-> 2'28.2

Those are not set in stone since I'm not looking at the lap.

However, if my best sectors were all put together, I do feel that mid/low 27s could happen.

Unfortunately I don't have my ps2 at the moment, so for now this little teaser post will have to do until I can get something a bit more formal posted.

Hopefully by then I will have a 2'27.??? for us to check out.

Well, until next time. :D

I hit a couple 36.2s, but not on any good laps. The "snake" part can be frustrating for me.

And I believe you were right before, 2'25s are possible.

Also, your settings are pretty good. I think it was the softer springs and the ride height. I still kept the rear downforce at 1.05, which can be unforgiving at the circle things. That is one section you do not want to lose traction(due to the time loss).

I'm down into the 2'28 range myself, there's time left everywhere I look, about 2 seconds worth. I find it weird I have a 1'34 T2 then a 2'28 T3, I'm pulling back like, 1.2 on even GoKents. Glad I kept at it, I'll run again after dinner, with some luck, I think I can go faster still.

Is everybody getting 200/201mph crossing the line?
Yep. 201 mph on the finish line (324 km/h) and I'm still using the default car settings. And I reach my top speed just before braking for hairpin 1 : 216 mph (348 km/h)

Wow, no wonder I'm losing out on you guys in T1, I'm only at 317 at the line and 335 by the hairpin, but I'm running maximum downforce and shortened gears, I'm barely red lining by the hairpin and I'm picking up the time around the rest of the circuit well enough for the most part. I figured the car's only at maximum speed for that one straight, so I'd rather set it up for maximum performance over the other 8-9 km of the lap.

I'm only at 199mph on the start finish line.

Then at the end of the straight I am at 213.1 (max).

Seems my gearing work isn't helping my long straights.

However, maybe I should also ask a few gearing questions...

Is everyone else in 2nd for the entire 90* section (without need for shifting at all)?
Is everyone else in 4th for the first slolam?

Both of those sections were giving me bad shift points until I moved my gears around.

With 1st - 5th lengthened I am now able to run 1 gear through most sections.

Sadly, I am loosing some time on that main straight, so I'm gonna have to look it over and figure what is more important...

Top Speed on the Straight or Gearing in the Technical Stuff?

Let me know what you all think. :D

btw, no progress at the moment, but by the end of the day I will have something. :mischievous:

People are hiting 200 at the starting line? No wonder I'm having trouble keeping up with you guys. I'm thinking a little bit of gear-tuning is in line, I'll see y'all when I get everything sorted out gear-wise.

I'm at 199 crossing the line, using all the downforce in front and almost all of it in the rear, tranny trick too.

Using 2nd through the squares, not shifting until exiting.

Using 5th into the slalom, dropping to 4th briefly to burn off some speed, then exit in 5th. (36.7 - .9 T1)

Ruined it, but I just hit 2'27.8

It wasn't even a very good lap.

Still lots to come off.

Now, Omero!

Are you sure you know what you're doing with your tranny?
If not, head over to the OLR School here or you can try the tranny trick thread in the same forum found here

Hope to see you or any one else make use of that forum.

It can help greatly, and that's what boom put it there for.

Well, until later tonight when I get a little more time to run...

later. :D
