Well there technically should be at least one more update...

STRAIGHT from KY's mouth in Ahmed's interview:

Me: any near update coming to GT5 Prologue?

K.Y: we just released the Spec 3 update and about future update there is for sure.

Me: is it soon ?

K.Y: "smiled" we will anounce it in our website before there is any update. but we will anounce the information only before an update is goin to be released in a couple of days like what we did in spec 3. even GT5 will release at the same way "laughing" we will do every thing as a surprise.

So is this technically an announcement that another update is imminent?

You know.. this is all just badly translated i think.
I mean, his last sentence..
even GT5 will release at the same way "laughing" we will do every thing as a surprise.
I mean, what developer and/or publisher thinks it's a good idea to suprise people with a full release of such a big title!?
That's BS, no way that is his intention.. GT5 needs the hype, they need to announce it months before it's release to build up a crowd who want it, pre-orders, hype, etc.

I find that a very weird quote.. i don't believe that is righly translated.

GT doesnt need hype at all, it has enough hype already. If they dont announce a release date till there 100% sure then there wont be any delays.

It may well delay me making a purchase if it suddenly appeareed. I cannot afford to buy games at the moment but I'd certainly do all I could (within the law!) to obtain a copy.

PD doesnt need to hype Gran Turismo 5 at all. It's such a big game the gaming magazines and even regular newspapers hype it enough for a multi-platinum sale. I remember how it was when Gran Turismo 4 came out. People at work were talking about it without even knowing anything about Gran Turismo.

I pre-ordered and payed for Gran Turismo 5 on April 12th 2008. So my copy will land safely on my doormat at about 2010. :)👍

Hype.. okay, maybe it has that for us people who are following every step.. im talking marketing and hyping it for the people who will buy the game from the shelves out of impuls... that takes time.

When did they say the fall update would be big BIG?

GT5: Prologue to Get Car Damage Patch
Kazunori Yamauchi says car damage download possibly coming this fall.

Careful, lazy Gran Turismo drivers -- that "bumper car" technique you use to overtake opponents heading into a corner may not work so well in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. At least, not once you download a patch that will finally add car damage to the Gran Turismo series.

"Maybe by Fall we'll be able to implement it," said Polyphony president Kazunori Yamauchi in an interview with IGN, confirming car damage would be coming as a download to Prologue (set for release in North America on April 17). It's a sign that the series is finally catching up with its contemporaries; while other racing simulators like the Forza series have implemented car damage, this key element of realism has been missing from Gran Turismo since its very first installment in 1998.

Kazunori Yamauchi Interview
4-Apr-2008 Interview: Gran Turismo creator reveals his plans for GT5

Will the US get the content that was added to the UK version?

Yamauchi: The Japanese version was updated to match the UK version on the day of the UK release, so they are now the same. And the US version that's coming out is going to be pretty much the same as the UK version.

There are still a lot of things we have left un-done in GT5 Prologue, so by fall [autumn] this year there will be another major update to the game.

What sort of content can we expect from the update?

Yamauchi: The major things that we're planning for the update will be to add community building features such as communication between players and also damage for the cars.

Damage? Awesome. And the online part of the game will be improved, too?

Yamauchi: Yes, there'll be a focus on the online mode.

Oh come ON! ANOTHER thread about this, everyone carrying on like PD owe you something? It's a PROLOGUE!

Are you all just sitting around "cracking the sads" because PD would rather work on making a game that makes them money rather than updating your precious demos? To all of you, get a life! If another update comes, be glad, but stop with these BS threads already.

He said mabye and possibly. And the big fall update could have been the Spec III update.

I dont want damage in prologue, damage has a way of ruining public rooms in racing games. People will do anything to wreck your car and not theres, punting will be worse and people will start wrecking people for fun then quitting the race.

I mostly think same way.

If damage would only effect to punters car, that would be different. Then all the punters would have only one chance to hit others, and their car would be broken.

I dont see why I would need damage a lot. I mostly drive on track, so that feature dont change my life much.

More than damage, I'd like to have much longer races with tyre-wear and fuel-economy, and engine failures because overshouting engines.

That kind of things would make races much more interesting, when you needed to decide which tyres you choose for first stint, and how much gas. You also should then drive more realistic way, that tyres wont go ruined too early.

I dont think PD own us anything, but I think they should test these things with us before releasing full version. They always say, they want GT5 to be perfect... it cant never be perfect without testing every feature with hardcore-fans.

If they release full version without testing those things, I'm afraid those things are going to be just as rubbish as low-PP cars in front of grid now.

+1 👍

Longer races with no RBE would really make this game alot more fun but i cant see it happening in prologue :grumpy:

And ofcourse 1 or 2 lap qualifier before race. It would change that stupid PP-based grid-structure what we have now ...it's putted upside down. Why PD, why?! There is no sense that slower cars are in front. Are you out of your mind!

10 lap races would be great

Clock is ticking..They can test every features of GT5 with GT5p. use this advantage and gimme something PD!

I dont think we need 10 lap races as that could be a bit to long, i think 5 - 7 laps would be perfect

10 laps would be great start... but then we really needed that tyre-wear and fuel-economy, with pit-stops.

I seriously doubt there'd be anyone more hardcore than the guys that are actually making (and no doubt continually testing) the game itself.

That said, I'd love a 10 lapper at Suzuka, or even a timed race or two, half hour at Fuji or even little ol' London.

Really, thats ace :), i havent had a PS3 for a couple of months :grumpy:

What! Have you ever played this game?

There is so many things what could easily be done much better, so how can you think there is some 'hardcore guys' doing testing. If there is some guys testing this game, they should be fired at first place.

We had 3lap races, and RBE many months! What kind of racing is that? We have odd penalties. We have totally insane grid-system. We have had many months only high-PP races. We have only two track choice to drive...

I could give you many things more, what could be better even without new content. Only change parameters.

I dont believe there is no one testing this game, or reading forums.

We are the testers for this game.

You have to remember that just because we dont like 3 lap races and the RBE doesnt mean that no one likes it, Some people like short races and the RBE so PD have to make races for everyone to play.

But in the end, there reads 'real driving simulator' on the Game. RBE, and 3 lap races have/had nothing to do with simulating... same goes to grid-system. It causes so much troubles when slower cars are in front, and there is no real race-series with that kind of stupidity.

I realise some kiddies have no patience to drive many laps, but there is no reason why could not have all kind of races... 3 laps, 5laps, 10laps, etc etc.

Why us, who keep this game alive by playing it all the time, need to suffer because those who dont take it seriously. There could be something for all of us. I think kiddies and other punters would never choose 10lap races, so we could enjoy racing with eachothers.

I'm pretty sure that the real driving simulator motto has been changed.

And the reason why us, because we are a minority.

Not everyone has a g25 (or even DFP/DFGT), not everyone wants to use the pro physics and not everyone is old enough to be a "sim-nerd" like you or me. As was said, we are in the minority - but we will be catered for eventually I'm sure.

If the slower cars are up the front its more of an even race.We have handicap races over here and the end of the race you dont know who is going to win.Im sure you have enough skill to pass slower opponents!

The point why this grid-system annoyes me most, is that it makes us, who dont want to drive max-powered 'winning choice'-car, impossible to organise decent races, cause we need to take our cars out of track at the start, that we dont cause disorder to faster cars.

Example here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDQezkeUaw4

I'd like endurance races but only if there was realistic damage with real world consequences in terms of race ending damage.

I don't have a problem with slower cars starting at the sharp end of the grid.

That's not a real world thing. It's a game thing and it works provided the PP issue is worked out properly.
