I've raced with people from all over the globe without issue on several occasions. Including some here in this series, So I can't blame location whatsoever for the issues. You should already have it. Check your garage or delivery room.
As for the lag, I my experience, it takes just one bad connection to bring the room to a crawl. I usually restrict my series to North America only. The host should monitor each driver on the track and anyone that appears laggy should be booted...with no hard feelings.
If R1600Turbo didn't see him lagging, and you did, the problem was on your end, I must say.My bad. He was definitely laggy though, even in free run. Maybe it wasn't gravy then? There was someone with a Great Britain flag. I assumed they were actually located there.
For the record, I have the old PS3 and I had the issue yesterday and most people can't join my rooms. I'm almost certain the latter is a hardware issue so maybe you're onto something.Perhaps it is related to versions of the PS3 which run different clock chips or something? If you get one guy with an older PS3 in a room it could cause problems. I dunno, just trying to come up with something other than latency being the issue.

Anyways, I'll be online around 4pm PST for more practice. I might not like this car but I'm going to find a way to drive it.
Yeah, I'm assuming if he saw someone lagging, it was him having a download lag.Nobody was lagging for me at all.

Download lag = you see others jumping.
Upload lag = others see you jumping.

I'm really heading down the thought path that PD tried to change the way lag is handled, so rather then drive in an active war zone (cars swerving erratically) when lag occurs, this happens.
I can't make the race tonight, but I'll bet if you limit the count to 12 it will work better, for a temp fix anyway.

Have they released the servers from Prologue yet?
Also, for everyone that raced last night, would you be opposed to skipping qualifying and lining up based on the qualifying order from last night?
Sorry, I don't remember the load times...So what about Aliens last night? Every time I reset the track, everybody would finish loading about the same time, but he would take another ~5 seconds or so. He was the only one that I noticed doing that.
Is the race going on tonight? Open slot? I spaced it last night.

It could also be RT missed the lag times, if he only lagged sometimes. If you look at the hours between 8-10PM you'll see how much bandwidth GT5 was using. I'm confident that I was the only one accessing the network and it works out to roughly 30-40KB/sec up and down. I have my PS3 setup to allow incoming connections via UPnP and as well as to receive the highest amount of throughput with QoS. My downstream is capable of constant 1.5MB/sec and up ~ 700KB/sec. I'm pretty confident it's not my issue.
You always have to download other cars positions, no matter the room setup, you have to download the inputs of other players so your PS3 knows where to show them on the track, etc.Download lag implies upstream from other client or clients you're connected to being saturated in a mesh topology, which is what we used as R1600Turbo wasn't a fixed host.
Aliens has had some minor issues much like what you describe, and some DC trouble, but I don't think I've seen him lag seriously at any point. So what about Aliens last night? Room setup just dictates who you download the information from, I believe.

I am starting to believe our internet issues are hardware related, I have a test to make later to see if I'm right, I'll of course let you guys know what I find.
