Well it appears we finally got it to work. Forcednduckshn is host, but we still had issues with people disconnecting. Race appears to be smooth now....with only 12 cars on track.

Wonder if that's the key.

Sorry I was a no show tonight. Wifey wouldn't give up the TV. I'll try to make tomorrow night's race.

Sorry everyone but I'm just not having fun with this car at all so I'm just going to get out of the way and leave while I still can.

Have fun guys. 👍

I'll have the results up in a bit guys. I decided to rely on the replays for them, which was a bad idea because I have to watch them all the way through. It won't let me skip forward since I didn't participate. :(

 1. Forcednduckshn
 2. A7XMaverick
 3. carracerptp

According to my screen and a few others I know for sure, you and Forced tied. Both of your times were identical. Because Forced had the fastest lap between you two, he was awarded the spot. Seems fair I think.

Yes.
Got a real good test in tonight, rooms/connection can have an effect, but the main issue we can control is damage completely off, visual included, and number of cars.
12 is the absolute maximum I would recommend trying.
I watched it go away through cars separating on track tonight, made it come back by re-joining the pack, and then it was removed almost completely by the 13th car DC'ing. (knocking the count down to 12)

That or just give both 4th place points for that race, just a thought.
A tie is pretty damn cool by the way, only ever had that happen once in all GT play of my life, wouldn't you know GT4 gave ties to the AI?

In race 2? Forced ran a 1:17.000 (best lap of race)

Edit: @ CSL - I made a mistake earlier, we only had 10 cars on track for each race. Ran butter smooth.

Watching the races got me in the mood to practice a bit. I was able to regularly post low-mid 1'18s, with a best of 1'17.8xx, in the short time I was on track. I wish I could bottle that, as it's pretty good pace for me. Looking forward to racing tomorrow. 👍

I think he is referring to times of the last lap, not the best lap.

To be fair to Nic, a tie breaker wasn't determined before the tie happened, so it's a little harsh to demote him a position post-race for a rule that hadn't been in place beforehand. Maybe it would be more fair for the two of them to split the 4th/5th place points this time and ties in the future be settled by order of best laps should the situation arise again.

Using the best lap was the only thing that came to mind for me. There's not really anything else to use. I don't see the problem.

 A TIE thats crazy would like to see a vid of that lol, I don't think there's much chance of that happening again

Nice, glad you guys had a good race.

Why come up with a tie breaker when you can just do a photofinish, check the replay and name the first car to cross the line?

If the results put Nic ahead after the race (as viewed in the results screen), he was ahead, regardless of the matching time. If there was some sort of photo finish to view that is what it would show.

I have never heard of a series where the moderators choose their own placement over what the game displays. That screams of playing favorites.

Furthermore, using the last lap as a tie breaker is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. All that does is favor the car who passed the start/finish in front the previous lap, thus making the last lap null and void.

Go with the game results or I'm done here.

Im with CSL here, why not just give both of them 4th place points, since there was no rule before it happened you cant make one up after it happened.

And CSL, I liked looking at the brunette better than the blond, im just sayin...:dopey:

CLOSE!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a picture but I think it put Nick in front of forced when I saw the finish screen.
I say give them both 4th like CSL said.
I'm sure it's as close to a tie as we will get.

First all of man, you need to calm down. Seriously. Relax. This is not the FIA F1 World Championship. Have fun. (Though I guess racing wouldn’t be racing without drama.) 

We’re not talking about last lap. We’re talking about who had the faster race lap, which I did, which was also the fastest lap of the race, at a 1’17.000. The logic behind this is like in any race series, when you decide a final point standing, if two people are tied, you look at who had the most race wins, then 2nd places, then 3rd places etc. You award the tiebraker to who has earned it more based on merit. Or we could take who qualified better. Or who passed the most cars. Or who spent more time leading the other in the race. Whatever. 

Third, the game results on my screen showed me as being ahead. The photo finish shows us as being tied down to the thousandth of an inch. I wonder why….oh wait, that’s because WE TIED. <shakes head> What do you think of that, hotshot? 

My hat’s off to Nic. He drove a solid race to hang on to Nepal, who was hanging on to me with the epic draft in the main straight. And then he was able to get a run on us when we braking dueled in to the final corner.

I really could care less about sharing 4th place points. Heck, I am totally cool with each of us recieving 4th place points. What I am not cool with is anything less than 4th place points. For all of the above reasons, (based on logic) I think if you were going to award a 4th and 5th place, that the 4th place should go to me. Still, I accept whatever decision R1600 makes (who always makes fair decisions, and we’re lucky to have him as the league organizer, the reason why I keep coming back.)

Well done to Maverick for a solid race 2 win.  And Aliens for 2nd.

Cheers,

How many times have a series or any race had a "tie" before?
This is the only one I have seen.

To me, the way the game ordered things was completely random. Two racers tied, so it just put them in whatever order since, obviously it can't put them on top of each other...

Furthermore, using the last lap as a tie breaker is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. All that does is favor the car who passed the start/finish in front the previous lap, thus making the last lap null and void.

Didn't I post at least a couple times that I went by fastest lap? Pretty sure I did.

^^^ That.

And that's what I'm going to do so I don't have to hear any more whining. This is not a serious championship, this series is meant to be for FUN. For the racing, and no more. I'm not offering any prizes. Hell, I'm only keeping track of points because I feel like it, and it gives people a chance to see how they are stacking up compared to everyone else they are racing.

This is the only one I have seen.

Me and SAMHAIN85 had a .001 finish at Laguna in a practice race. :dopey:

Sorry, I wasn't aware that two separate replays could show different placement. Nic informed me that his replay shows him in 4th, as well as the lobby showing him in 4th. That was the info I was going on....but if your lobby showed differently, then I stand corrected. It is just yet another flaw in the game. I wonder if the NASCAR fanatics have discovered this bug yet...since they have significantly more photo finishes.

Anyway, 4th place points for both is really the only way to do this (now that I understand there is a bug). Using lap times really isn't a valid assessment, since achieving a 1:17 flat is more about being in the right spot for drafting than running solo around the track. If I were to use lap times as an assessment for point values, I'd use qualifying times for the first race instead...but since this is a series, I think it is best to just give 4th place points and come back to this later if there ends up being the need for a tie breaker for season points.
