Well, I'm not one for the dramatics, but reading the "Dirty little secret thread" has brought me to 97% quiting GT status. I'm beyond pissed off.

We dealt with PD catering to casual racers enough, all while still respecting the fact that GT isn't a hardcore racing title we continued simply because we loved GT too much. But now I'm just tired of this bullsh__ and refuse to put any more energy into it unless something is said about it from PD themselves. Even a simple statement of, " Whoops we fu**ed up" is enough. It's just draining.

It's not my first prediction. The online had me frustrated enough to make my note(beside name) before it got this bad. :(

Time will tell.

Just a question about the GT 86. If you buy the Toyota/Scio version in real life and open the hood, is the engine badged with a Subaru logo or a toyota/scion logo? For some reason i was lead to believe the engine had a subaru badge regardless of it being the Scion/Toyota version.

Both. The plastic cover on the top of the intake manifold says Subaru and Toyota on it.

aah. Thanks.
I found a picture of it too fwiw. imagine that. a Toyota with a boxer engine. Is this a first for Toyota?

If I'm not mistaken it's really just a Subaru engine in actuality.
It's also the first car Toyota has made in a decade that I've wanted.

It's like they don't want EVEN MORE money. I mean, the Camry and most of their run-of-the-mill fleet (Tundra too) really carried them nicely through the mid first decade and after the throttle sticking fiasco happened they seemed to have hit the end of their party time status. This car's been in the air for a while, should've been done so much longer. Only recent Toyota I wanted was the latest MR-S's, then they did the LF-A, which I love. So yeah, at one point in my life I loved Supras too, lol.

I'm new to this club but i just wanna know how to get in to this Special Toyota 86 GT '12 Event if someone replys by the 6th ill be VERY HAPPY.:dopey:

You should already have it. Check your garage or delivery room.

As for the lag, I my experience, it takes just one bad connection to bring the room to a crawl. I usually restrict my series to North America only. The host should monitor each driver on the track and anyone that appears laggy should be booted...with no hard feelings.

That's how we always do it, but in this case it would've happened regardless.

I hadn't experienced lag like that in quite a while, either due to not racing in 16 client rooms , not having so many people with FFB wheels, or not having many inter-continental clients connected. I did notice some weirdness with both aliens (Italy) and garvey (GB, if that's his name) like long loading times and barber poles even during warmup. They both seemed to warp around the track a few times as well in free run. At best, US East coast should have latency around 75-100ms to GB, and maybe upwards of 130ms to Italy.

Last time I really remember seeing this lag was when doing 450PP races w/huyler and AOK (also from Italy) being connected. Once he stopped running in that club the lag seemed to disappear. Not saying anything about Italy but high latency between clients with a mesh topology spells disaster when client input is so important.

Sorry all I can add was the car handled like a boat on water last night.
I check everything on my end, the PS3 and 1 computer that was sleeping were the only items online.
I think 16 cars on track are to much for the PS3 to handle, it wasn't really a lag as in cars jumping from place to place, it was a simulation/input lag.

esh

Hmmm. That is odd because I did not make the race with you folks last night. In fact, at your start time I was still in the ORCA Alfa race. Unless there is someone else with my last name and I'm mistaken....

Battlefield 3 has 24 players and it works like a charm. It's just GT5's servers are 🤬. And by the look of things, we won't get a fix anytime soon. :nervous:

What ever system they use for memory management in menus and in race is wrong. I'm sure the severs a probably set up in some odd way so it can't handle large call requests.
I'm sure last night was a PS3 born problem, they were getting the data from the severs, they just used it wrong (grip, screen refresh).

I hope PD focus more on this rather than adding new things to the game. They are welcome by me, but I would be happier if issues were fixed first.

It is completely Subaru, except that they adapted Toyota's direct injection to it.

I was watching everyone last night, skipping around to each car and everyone on my end was super smooth. No jumping around at all. The only thing I noticed was that when I reset the track, Aliens took longer than anyone else to load.

Aliens is Mexico, and Gravy is East Coast USA.

I think everyone was on the North American continent.
The frame rates died so it sounds like a PS3, not a bad network (but it probably will helped), problem.

My bad. He was definitely laggy though, even in free run. Maybe it wasn't gravy then? There was someone with a Great Britain flag. I assumed they were actually located there.

Hi All,

Sorry I couldn't make the race last night, stinks about the reported lag issues. FYI I did some room-hopping this weekend and noticed similiar issues.

Will try and shoot for Thursday's event.

Thanks
Joe

I was in the race, am a D pad user and i wasn't affected at all.

A7XMaverick was loading stripe for me, thus i never saw him in the race.

I am a NAT3 connection. I never saw anyone lag or anything weird.

I think:

Christmas just happened. Huge amounts of new GT5 players online. As well many other games. So if there is any central servers that are just hubs still will show stress from influx of users.

Just a thought.

That's seems like basically what happened but it's amazing that it's Tuesday night. Normally its the weekends that are clogged. But still doesn't let Pd off the hook. YouCan't make a game that you think is amazing and then not build a strong enough server to handle the insane amount of people who play. Unless they were thinking Gt5 was not going to sell as much as it did.......in which case they underprepared.

Have they released the servers from Prologue yet?

Also, for everyone that raced last night, would you be opposed to skipping qualifying and lining up based on the qualifying order from last night?
