P.S. For what it's worth, I am buying a G27 (finally) and should have in my possesion soon. I am on my second DFGT right now. Already, I feel it beginning to "wear out" a little.

How long do they last, the DFGT, some say "a week" others "years"?
And when you get your G27 could you give your thoughts on the difference from a DFGT in the FF, pedals, and over all feel? And how much time can you shave off a lap with a clutch?
I'm still not liking the fact the DFGT only has 2 pedals, I find myself wishing for a clutch. I wouldn't be looking at the G27 at all if they sold a "pro pedal kit" for a decent price.

1) Forcednduckshn - DFGT - Force Feedback 8
2) Owens Racing - T500 RS - FFB 6-10 depends in car and track usually 8
3) cicua - G27, FFB=1 (maybe 2 or 3 for light cars), PowerSteer=on. Anything more and much wrists and shoulders start hurting after a few hours of wrestling. G27 is really heavy, has only become slightly better after they added official support for it.

I have a dfgt ffb-10, simulation steering.

I also did the pedal mod and the resistance is so much better and takes just a few minutes.
If you have the dfgt I highly recommend it.

I have had my dfgt for 3.5 years and have had no issues but then again I'm am more of a casual racer. I hear a few g27's over the mic and they are pretty loud when using the shifter. I would think it could be a problem if you have anyone sleeping nearby if you play late at night.

DFGT, while a great wheel. My kids broke one year after purchase. As in it powered up. Pedals work. FFB works. No steering inputs registered.

Do note my kids play almost everyday and my youngest logs HOURS doing glitches and stuff. So I assume he may have held wheel one way got periods of time. I've asked he unplug it if he does this anymore.

Great wheel outside that. Truly feel for the money they got many trouble free hours. I'd still recommend one to the budget oriented racer.

Also on FFB, used to strictly 10. Manly grrrr, decided it was time to try other setting and found that a lower setting raises the precision up on many cars.

I prefer 10 if speed isn't priority though. Grown man at 185 lbs lean work with metal all my life. So kinda strong for my size. Think Farm boy strength. LoL

Gents, can we do a quick run down on what folks are using for a driving wheel here? And does anyone have any tips for the DFGT or G25/G27 as far as setting them up in the options menu. I am just curious what folks are using (not suggesting one wheel is faster than the other, just curious.) Please share any feedback you have.

1) Forcednduckshn - DFGT - Force Feedback 8

Thx Guys.

I use dfgt and g27. I am faster with the dfgt ff 2 ps off.

I put bungees on my pedals, since that my only complaints are that I've had to take it apart and clean the pedals twice now, and the real-time adjustment buttons was very shoddy from shortly after purchase, very difficult to actually use anymore.

Top notch realism-per-dollar on the market IMO.

3.5 years, that sounds great.
I'm already having to switch to a controller at night so....

I set the FFB to 10 right off the start, only "children" use anything else....
Then I noticed my hands skin quality degrading after a couple of days, and most people don't use 10.

I never drove a real car with or without power steering (that wasn't broken power steering) that had so much turning resistance as the DFGT has at FFB 10.
I would only recommend that high a setting to someone that turns more then they should, as a disciplinary tool.

I race with feed back setting lower because of tendonitis issues.Mostly in longer races I will use 2.I will use 7 if I am running shorter races. I tend to run lower settings on tracks with more turns that need a faster response or run higher setting for a track with more flow, and higher speeds.

G27/ FFB 1/ no aids

I think when I was practicing with the DFGT before the GT-Academy finals, I was running the FFB at 3 IIRC....although things may have changed a bit with the updates since then.

Ok story time:

I got cash rich so to speak. Large paycheck for little going out aka expendable income early 18-25 usually. Anyway. I built this Mustang LX. Manual rack aka no power steering had a 306 ported Edelbrocks, Vortech Supercharger at 14psi........ Prob making 600ish Whp. Went full spool aka locked Posi diff. Banger car mind you. I left the house and on exit to main road is slight down hill. Turning on manual rack and cam loping and locked diff that car spun a 180 like right now. I was says WHOA NELLLY! LoL using old school tech clutches. Heavy pedal and grabby.

That car would seriously smoke the tires at 55mph drop to third and tromp it. Passing a car i found this out, lifting wasnt an option so drove through it came back in my lane sideways some. Two witnesses one scared to death of that car. LoL Had lift bars. However before Drag Radials. So 17" 275's reg hard tire. But it was a serious white knuckle ride with the tire. Owned faster since but sticky street tires tame them a lot.

lmao, you always know it's an epic ride if the guy describes it the same way he would a fist fight. Nice stuff Indiana.

Anyway, I've got a G27 and run 5 FFB, I'm not sure about the power steering though, never messed with it so it's gotta be on the default setting.

So cool, nothing like overkill.
My story.....
I drive a mini van

 Don't worry, I will fix that, one of these days. My money is looking at used mustangs. Parts are cheap, aftermarket is great.
EDIT. We need pictures 👍

The Reality

I got photos of another Mustang I owned more recently. That car was built in 1996. Digital camera. Never heard of it. Computer, you use those at work. LoL

It was before that digital age really wasn't into pictures back then. It was all about speed. As digital came in mainstream I have maintained a good photo diary.

So with that here is the latest Mustang I owned. It was similar. Just less heads and cam in it and less boost. But very streetable.

Had a 98 Eclipse GSX auto between these. I had hurt my arm and wasn't in any shape drive manual for a few months. That car was fun in the winter. But 15.7's was dreadfully slow to me. Had to go and get below.
Crazy both were this Mineral Gray. One was 89 and this one 91.

That was replaced with this: Cam Only LT1 w 150 shot of nitrous 11.01@122mph 60' 1.4 and 0-60mph 1.8 secs car hooked soooo good. It dead hooked on the street too. Won a lot of races with this car. except below video. Full bolt Cobra ported blower and spraying.

Ok enough off topic. Fun sharing though.

Liking the Evo most, just wish it was in a more interesting colour.

Silver actually my favorite color on most cars. My Daily Jeep is Silver too. lol

Loud colors really are not me. I like to be subtle. However when the loud peddle is mashed. I want it to stand up and talk to me. LOL

My car is a sleeper too, 99 Volvo V70R. Certainly confuses the lads in Civics that's for sure. As for silver, it is one of my most hated colours on the basis it's everywhere & really boring! Everyone bought it at one point thinking it was the new white, thinking it was different & modern. It's not now because of it. I like interesting colours when it comes to cars, my Volvo for example is a rather funky blue.

Like this ??

:lol::lol: jk
I like the oem color...look awesome with that front lip btw.

That Evo looked good, but bit too much overkill for me on another other than a movie. The stickers etc, spoil it slightly. The Eclipse in 2 Fast 2 Furious I could learn to like though. Best movie car ever has to be Eleanour though, I'll have one some day :).

FFB 1? Hmm, wasn't expecting that. Anyways, here are mine: G25/ FFB 7/ PS ON

Thanks for the responses guys. It should help. Here's a grand list:

1) Forcednduckshn - DFGT - Force Feedback 8
2) Owens Racing - T500 RS - FFB 6-10 depends in car and track usually 8
3) cicua - G27, FFB=1 (maybe 2 or 3 for light cars), PowerSteer=on. Anything more and much wrists and shoulders start hurting after a few hours of wrestling. G27 is really heavy, has only become slightly better after they added official support for it.
4)Jay2Bizzle4shizzle Dfgt ff=8 (I think), ps off
5)Nepal - G25/ FFB 7/ PS ON
6)Wardez - G27 and run 5 FFB, I'm not sure about the power steering though, never messed with it so it's gotta be on the default setting.
7)Time Attack - G27/ FFB 1/ no aids

8)R1600Turbs - DFGT / FB 5 / No PS
9) PTP - DFGT 7 sometimes :)

BTW PTP - AMAZING pictures as usual (from a few pages ago)

Does anyone want a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP btw? Just got a brand new one, not what I was after. Annoyingly I'd bought one to do the event... Drop me a PM or add me on PSN: The-Reality-ca.

Edit 2: Nevermind, it won't let me give it away or sell it. What a disappointment!

What times are people getting at this weeks track?
I'm still off running 4s like a machine, I have the sectors (laps 5 to 11 are the golden laps) just can't string it all in one lap.

Funny story regarding the 86 though. I just made a new mini-Nurb style track and have been testing cars out on it. I made some laps last night in my bone stock 86, then got on today and just ran a few laps in the DLC Mini Cooper. As soon as I saw the lap time for the Mini, I was like "I think the 86 was about the same".

Then I checked the times:

Toyota 86 GT = 3:28.738
Mini Cooper = 3:28.746

Me neither, no practice yet at all at CR5, lol. I'll probably run this Thursday.

I did a single session at Tsukuba yesterday to improve my pace against the godfather of Aliens, and did a best of 1'07.210, however had two laps going against that time that were .158 and .193 ahead! :) I decided to call it quits after about 1hr 45 mins but was confident those 1's or 0's were popping up soon, satisfied that I have figured out how to do a 1'07.0 there, and best sectors in the 1'06.9 or even 8 range. T/A said he thought 7's or 8's were possible at best, so I am happy to have finally figured the line and technique out there(mostly). I got the time by adjusting my technique and line through T1 and each hairpin, and figuring out how to nail the dunlop corner right-hander. Each corner is truly a lesson on late apexing and feeling grip/minimizing understeer through trailbraking. IMO, the track might be one of the most technical in GT5, masked in the fallacy of being "simple and boring." I finished the session doing consistent .3's and 4's with a bunch of 2's, all the the while knocking on the door of 1's and 0's with each sector. It was fun to dig in to a track like that.

See you guys at CR5.

Hey Turbo, are you sticking with the normal schedule this week or do you want to wait for the update and see if problems are sorted out? It's more fun with more people. :D
