Sorry, I'm actually being really picky about who I accept friend requests from right now. My friends list is almost full, and I have to leave space open for people that want to download my tracks. Space is at a minimum unfortunately.

What times are people getting at this weeks track?
I'm still off running 4s like a machine, I have the sectors (laps 5 to 11 are the golden laps) just can't string it all in one lap.

I just got around to doing some practice laps just a moment ago. For what it's worth, my best lap was a 1'04.361 on the 6th lap of the first stint...although I ended up parking it after that lap, so I'm not sure if the tires might have had a bit more left in them. I think pole will likely be right around a mid 1'04, and the best possible lap in a 10 minute window (which is the length of qualy IIRC) would probably be a very low 1'04, although a 1'03 might be possible with perfect driving and the other variables (tires/fuel load) working in your favor.

This car is rather odd around here though. It seems like in almost every corner it has some balance issue that you have to drive around :ouch:

Me neither, no practice yet at all at CR5, lol. I'll probably run this Thursday.

I did a single session at Tsukuba yesterday to improve my pace against the godfather of Aliens, and did a best of 1'07.210, however had two laps going against that time that were .158 and .193 ahead! :) I decided to call it quits after about 1hr 45 mins but was confident those 1's or 0's were popping up soon, satisfied that I have figured out how to do a 1'07.0 there, and best sectors in the 1'06.9 or even 8 range. T/A said he thought 7's or 8's were possible at best, so I am happy to have finally figured the line and technique out there(mostly). I got the time by adjusting my technique and line through T1 and each hairpin, and figuring out how to nail the dunlop corner right-hander. Each corner is truly a lesson on late apexing and feeling grip/minimizing understeer through trailbraking. IMO, the track might be one of the most technical in GT5, masked in the fallacy of being "simple and boring." I finished the session doing consistent .3's and 4's with a bunch of 2's, all the the while knocking on the door of 1's and 0's with each sector. It was fun to dig in to a track like that.

See you guys at CR5.

Glad you found the time Nick...I knew it was just a matter of practice :sly:

Regarding the technical nature of Tsukuba - Personally I only find Tsukuba to be technical/challenging in that you must be very accurate with your inputs/technique (particularly steering and trail braking) in order to maximize the lap time. In terms of finding the racing line I don't think it's all that difficult though, mainly because most of the turns are rather straight forward (it just becomes a matter of understanding how to balance the car in and out of the hairpins and executing the proper inputs), and more importantly there aren't really any corners that you have to link together in the most optimal manner (say Nurb F, Cape Ring, Eifiel track in GT-A, etc.), or turns that are very hard to judge (like turn 3 at Indy - the long right hander).

I guess it's all a matter of how one defines "technical/challenging" in terms of the characteristics of a circuit 👍

Nice to read this and feed myself with all of this knowledge. The problem is how do I put this to action. Still haven't driven at CR5. At least I know what I should be aiming at 👍

1'04.361 - I'm still about a second off... I think I can get a high 4 though.
I have never experienced the balance problem? I must not be pushing hard enough :D

Thanks TA ;) I took your advice seriously and it helped regarding focusing on nailing entry and getting clean exits. The line came more naturally and I was able to feel the grip at the apexes once I adjusted properly. And totally agreed on what you said about how one defines "technical/challenging." For me, I think it is the "exxagerated and lengthy amount of trailbraking" in the 3 hairpins that can be challenging to mentally overcome; staying patient and not being overly eager to get right back on the gas again. I think that's the nature of hairpins which, if you don't do alot of them or get used to tracks without them, you can get lazy in your technique. So this was a good lesson (for me anyway) in getting back to good mechanics. I'll never forget watching your GT Academy lap in to T1, how absolutely perfect it was with the controlled bleed-off of brake pressure in to the apex. Magic. Anyway, thanks again brother. 👍

Just so you guys know, I've decided to stop keeping track of points. I think we'll have more fun when we don't have to worry about that. I may also move this thread to the spot race forum, haven't decided yet.

No points? I'm glad as mine would look bad.... Some people might feel differently.
Just keep it going (only true SPEC series here)

friendly reminder... if you're racing tonight don't forget to sign on early to get 2.03 It's 225MB

Don't know if I can make it on time but I'll try.

Should we postpone tonights race? Seems a few people dropped out, and the list isn't exactly filling up...

we would have about 6 to 7 people.... I would think, if points don't count, it could work....
It would seem empty.

Well I wasn't exactly planning on racing since I haven't had any practice. Subtract those that can't make it and Maverick who is unsure, that leaves us with 4 cars.

With points not counting, even more reason for this to go ahead regardless.

Edit: I've done 5 laps practice, don't hear me complaining even though I'm 2 seconds off the pace.
