I don't know about anyone else but I've been using the weekly challenges as a great foundation for deciding how I engage with the single player content.

Since they added the Event Directory and improved payouts for custom races, along with the Sophy implementation my gameplay loop has looked something this:

Weekly Challenge race > dive into remaining events of same series > imitate same race conditions using Custom Race, trying different cars & Sophy where available.

Last night I smashed a few WTC900 events using my brand new McLaren F1 GTR racecar, then went on to replicate the races in custom mode without the tyre and fuel multipliers and finally signed off with a challenge against the Sophy AI. None of which was a massive credit haul, but looking back at the session I earned some half decent rewards whilst having a great time.
I wrote this on reddit in the morning:
Don't know about you guys but I like to go a step further with these weekly challenges. I like to do ALL the events in the series not just the one that is in weekly challenge.

For example for Sunday cup classics I took my Mini Cooper S '65 tuned it to 350pp and raced it on all 5 Sunday cup classic events, I even record times in spreadsheet so next time I play with different car will see which one did better.

For 4wd Japan car I took Mitsubishi GTO tuned to 600pp and again I'll race it on every event in that series and so on...

For me it is like extended version of weekly challenges because let's be honest you can do them all in what 30 minutes or so? this way you have 2-3 hours of fun.

Also a great way to finish all races and have them all at 100%
For me it's really more than just 5 races is like a guide on what to play this week, or at least few days.

Beside other things I do in the game of course

For me it makes them more attractive than they were at launch.

That said I'm not really drawn to this weeks.

I'm mostly an online player these days with TT and Ranked racing.

This week is a bit weak to me, even to practice on.

I like this! Before I completed the original menus and unlocked everything else - I did something similar with the WTC 700 championship. I cycled through a handful of Gr.4/de-tuned Gr.3 cars and jotted down the lap times.

I view the Weekly Challenges's purpose as motivation to re-do existing events. I would never bother re-doing the Sunday Cup classics and the pathetic 5,000cr payout. But I'll definitely re-do it (and the others) to win a relatively expensive car and extra credits in the process.

Sure, it's always fun to have new events - the 992 race last week was quite fun. But I find it hard to call the feature a disappointment even if it remains a recycled mix of events with additional incentive to re-do it.
Thrilled to have won some ceramic brakes for a car I don’t own.
This is such a silly game mechanism. I counted the other night. It took me 18 "parts" awards before I finally got one for a car I owned. And I'm now up to 200+ cars! Admittedly, I laughed when my very first part reward was a crankshaft for the Toyota Alphard van.

Not sure why it wasn't made a standard "coupon" - e.g., you can cash it in one time for ceramic brakes for any car you choose.

I use these events as a chance to beat them with of low powered as a car as I can. I've only done two so far, but I beat the Sunday Cup Classic with a stock Cappuccino (actually an insanely hard challenge) and the American Clubman 700 race with a 600pp Viper - that was first try so I'm going to see if I can push it to 550pp.

My 6 star car ticket redeemed my first ticket. For a Veyron which sells for a little over 1 mill at the UCD.

I said to myself last week the progression for the weekly rewards should be at least a guaranteed 100/200/500 but i also love surprises. The trouble is there is a limited surprise element to the current tickets.

The 6 star car ticket was nice though.

Disappointing since there's no unique event, but at least there's a 6* car ticket! Just like last week, doing all events on Hard difficulty just for the sake of challenge.

Sunday Cup - quick 2 minutes race with no PP limit, so anything goes

4WD Challenge - Lancer Evo V with Low RPM Turbo, sports Intercooler/Filter, 520pp, was enough for me to get 1st place at the last corner in the very last lap. If you're planning to play on Hard, be careful with the Subaru 22B. The AI is pretty fast with that car.

American 700 - one could simply pick the Tomahawk S and be done with this race or could take the opportunity to revisit some americans cars and tunes. I thought this race was similar to the Bathurst race (same suggested PP of 700 with that damn C8 going too fast!), so I picked the Camaro ZL1 and won by 10 seconds
The main threats of this race are the C7 and the Viper 02'. I tested 3 other cars that can win without any tunes: Ford GT 05', C7 ZR1 and, surprisingly, the Tesla Model 3. It sounds funny, but yeah, the Model 3 is capable of winning this race if the Camaro SS is starting in 1st. Another fun combo: C4 + RH tires.

Porsche Cup - being limited to 650pp, it's possible to use the new 911 GT3 RS with a bit of ballast and/or power restrictor (it's also a car that can appear in the grid by the AI). That's what I did and won by 2 seconds. The yellow 997 can be a threat, be ready to defend your position after Dottinger, because the 997 can reach 300 km/h there, while the 911 can only reach ~285, even with DRS.

The 911 GT3 RS 2016 is probably a better choice: it's less stable, but way faster. Not as fast as the Carrera GT, but very safe. Another alternative is the Taycan with Sports Soft tires. Very good handling, but it needs a large gap at the final straight because the car can only reach 260km/h.

Interesting that out of 5 races, I only got rain in 2 of them, starting at Karussell.

Fuji WTC 800 - one of the hardest WTC 800 races since the AI is pretty quick in the rain. My first race with the Lexus was not good at all. Not enough traction and too slow, 5th place.
Second race went much better and smoother driving the Porsche 911. Not only the car is very stable, but it's also very fuel efficient. Winning without pitting is definitely possible.
Also tried the Vantage, WRX and the NSX. @Talon16 is right: the NSX is excellent in the rain. It's up there with the Porsche.
The Vantage is pretty good, but a bit light. My beloved WRX is ok-ish.

What I got from the tickets: a level 5 WR for the 918; Tomahawk Gr.1.

I do believe the Weekly Challenges are a good thing, but we need more reasons to do these events on Hard and with low PP cars (like the bonus we had from GT5/6 seasonal events). I could just drive the Tomahawk, the Carrera GT, detune one of the Gr.2 cars and there we go, weekly challenges done in less than 30 minutes. I did had fun doing them on hard, especially Fuji, but it's very frustating to race for 20 minutes in the rain only to get a prize of 140k credits.

To be honest, I have no idea what PD can do to give us better rewards besides credits. All paints, wheels and body parts are available at GT Auto. All tuning parts are available at the Tuning Shop. I thought about especial liveries, helmets and suits, but anyone can make them in the editor.

They could give us something more "unique". Like, this may be very particular, but how about car tickets from the UCD?

No idea...

... but I wouldn't go in expecting Invite cars to be included. That said, I don't recall if people have won Invite cars from regular six-stars or not (I think that they have; I recall an FXXK) so maybe.

You should read GTPlanet more, as we covered this with the update itself and the first set of events (twice), as well as in the article for this week's.

Nine of the ten events so far have been existing ones, with only the Porsche "Special Event" last week being a unique creation.
Yes, invitational are possible. Got my Bugatti veyron this eay

Anyone else having an issue with not receiving the weekly awards? I completed all 5 shortly after the reset and it says I acquired all 3 rewards, but nothing in my gift items, no notification, nothing.

For the Sunday Cup race, I used the Ambulance :D

For the Porsche at Nordschleife I used a downtuned version of the new 911 GT3 RS (which I had to buy last week for the special one make race, so it earned some of its value back). I too noticed that this car appears as an AI car now. No rain for me on this.

For the Fuji WTC800 I used the Audi DTM on Intermediates (my go to car for 800pp races). On FM6 (fuel map not Forza Motorsport  ) it easily goes the 10 laps. As it was raining till lap 5 and until lap 9 there was still plenty of wet track off the racing line, the tyres lasted the full race and i won by nearly a minute! (on easy).

The crappy parts ticket was crappy ( I've also had 3 parts ticket in a row from daily marathon :( ), for the car ticket I got an RUF CTR3 07 which I already own. It's near the bottom of the UCD price curve, so I will sell it next week and hopefully get more credits.

I just did the US Clubman 700 event using my 600PP '09 Corvette. Total brain fart when looking at my settings sheet, but turned out to be a thrilling race.

I was happy to win 1st place on both the Porsche Cup and the WTC800 events on the first attempt – had only achieved 3rd place in both before trying them again this week. Got a VW VGT car from the weekly challenge ticket. I don't think I'll ever drive it but it helps complete the collection, I guess.

The feature isn't disappointing, their utilisation of it on the literal 2nd week is. It has good potential (as most of the game does) but to not bother with a unique event after the 1st week is a shame.
Do the WTC 800 race, it’s far from a letdown. It was pissing down rain from the start, and even though it was only ten laps, was still a two-stopper with tire wear and quickly changing weather.

I really enjoyed driving the Porsche event. My car of choice for PP650 and Porsche is and remains the 911 (996) GT3 RS with, for me, the perfect setup for the ring.

Top speed on the straight is lower than the 911 (997) GT3 RS, but that's not a problem for me because I'm at least 10-15 seconds ahead at the Galgenkopf (i.e. before the Döttinger Höhe).

On Fuji i used my GT2 Nissan.

Kind of dissapointing...
I expected it's gonna be like Seasonal Events but it is not!
I was hoping for more longer Races...

Just trying to make quick fun of the Weekly Challenge races this time.

- Sunday Cup Classic and American Clubman Cup 700 -
I used my recently engine swapped Ford Roadster. I had received this duplicate Roadster from the Master B License test and also happened to receive the Voodoo engine in a ticket a couple weeks ago. Thought it would be fun. I had originally set up to race at Le Mans, so I left it in that spec (Race Hard tires, fully customizable suspension, transmission and racing brakes/pads). Needless to say, it made short work of the Sunday Cup. Laguna Seca was a bit more of a challenge working that quick of a car around the track with 0 downforce, not too bad though.

- Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 -
A lot of cars to choose from here, but I went with the '99 Impreza WRX STI. Took a couple tries to win, account of learning the track and never using this car before. But managed 3rd on my first attempt and 1st on the next. Had fun here.

- Porsche Cup: Nordschliefe -
Like a few others, I used the new 911 GT3 RS. Put some Sport Hard tires on and that seemed to be ok for the PP restriction. I didn't want to sacrifice engine power on the long straights for a better tire. Clean lap, for the most part. Slid off one place briefly where the track was particularly wet. Good race.

- World Touring Car 800 -
I haven't done too many of these races and I forgot most of the competition is Gr.3 cars. Went in with the CLK-LM on Full Wets. The Gr.2 car made easy work of this race especially when the rest of the field needs to pit and you can do a no-stop. Rain required TC1 to keep things tidy.

I can't remember what my parts ticket rewarded me. I personally think they should remove Parts tickets entirely now that we can purchase the special parts. The car ticket rewarded me the Jaguar VGT SV, which I guess saved me 1M Credits.

I like the Weekly Challenges. Gives another reason to play some events, although I think it would be even better to just create unique events (must be some kind of generator for it right??).

The WTC800 on Fiji was amazing, started with wets and changed to softs in lap 7 but the track was only dry on the racing lines, pretty intense. That weather dynamic system is something else.

plus ticket rewards for completing 1, 3, or all 5 races.
Oh I see now why I've got tickets seemingly random when trying this new feature ! (1 buy winning the first event, nothing by winning the 2nd, a ticket with the 3rd and nothing with the 4th).

I need to finish the 5th to get my last ticket ! Hopefully it will a good one !

I agree. I can't stand getting rubbish parts I don't need for cars I don't use.

Completed the weekly challenges last night and received:

Parts Ticket -> Ceramic Brakes for the Toyota Crown Athlete. Great.
Car Ticket -> Ferrari LaFerrari! OK, now we're cooking with gas! 1.6 million value and an invite only car of course.

I wish I paid more attention to the cars, but I want to say one of them was a Jaguar VGT and there may have been a Bugatti up there as well. It was a pretty decent collection.

Pretty fun to use this car in a WTC800 event, though the R34 absolutely annihilated the Gr.3 cars to a much higher degree than I expected lol.

I love the Weekly Challenges for the main reason is that most of the races that are there I had done with the attitude of "one and done" never to do the race again, but behold PD comes up with this great incentive to do the races again. some of these this week i had forgotten what car i had used the first time and it was like doing it for the first time.
i am pleased with PD and this new addition to the game.

Ditto on the CLK-GTR for the WTC800 event. Used the GR Yaris for the Japanese AWD Challenge just to get used to the car ahead of the new TT. Went in a different direction for the Porsche Cup event and used the Grp.4 Cayman but on IM tires in case of rain. Caught the leader at Kleine-Karrusell but gave up some straight line speed on Dottinger-Hohe and he pulled away. Got him on the penultimate corner - was fun
