Well that was fun. Started with the easy ones. Won at Suzuka with a stock Swift. Then won with my stock Focus RS on rs tires. Radical was in my trusty one. Easy 7 sec. win. Skipped the German race for now. Then the fun began. Decided to try out my trusty R5 still on 800pp tune. It was fine for the most part although I could have done with better FM. Too conservative. Pitted after lap 6. Pit out in 5th. Caught up to 3rd by lap 8 and was about to concede with that position then I saw a few more pitting which put me in second on lap 9 and 1st was only 6 secs up. Decided to go for it. Overtook him on the first turn of lap 10. Kept him comfortably at bay. Then after the downhill left sweeper, AI Kawakami got some super boost and was right on my ass. He got me on the final turn. Tried to draft but it was just too short a sprint. This is how close it was:

I think I'm going to reattempt this for revenge and with better FM.

Dang, it's still amazing to me how we're seeing repeats of recent challenges so soon into the roll-out of weekly challenges. I still love the game, but come on guys...

Radical again? It's a great car, but there are so many other awesome cars in the game that we never use. How hard is it to choose one of them?

Trial Mountain again? We just had the TT there AND the X2019 race which has allowed all of us to get plenty of seat time there. Why choose it again?

I swear there are so many times where I feel like the people at GT are actively trying to annoy even their most loyal fans by simply not putting any thought into super simple things. Still gonna have fun but...

Even though I said I was going to skip this week races, I completed them motivated by some good outcomes from the 5 star tickets people mentioned here.

So, I completed the challenges and the 5 star ticket gave me a Enzo Engine. In the mix I spotted 2 Gr3 cars (a BMW and an AMG), a Ferrari Invitation and something else I can't remember.

I'm gonna take it as a very good reward. If I'm not mistaken it is one of the most expensive engine swaps.

Cars I used:
  • Radical SR3
  • Ford GT 17
  • Civic Type R 2022
  • Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS
  • Ferrari VGT

Ugh, I got the bug. Nothing weird, did them in order, restarted my game right before I started... But, no 1 or 3 ticket after 3 races. Gonna wait to try the other 2 to see if maybe I at least get something from them?

The Radical race was fun though! The AI was fun to fight, even though they didn't have the overall pace. I still maintain that the base AI for this game is good, it's just hamstrung by how they implemented rubber banding and difficulty in general.

Needed to get to Collector level 39 on my second account so I golded the last few tests on my Masters IB license, won the LFA and got bumped up to Level 39. 5* ticket gave a crappy 100k credits. Anyway, on to the races:

Race 1 at Suzuka: Took a bone stock Suzuki Swift out there and passed Fraga through turns 1 and 2 on the 3rd lap. Easy win.

Race 2 at Blue Moon: Took a Bone Stock ‘94 Corvette ZR-1 to a second place podium on my first try but I knew this car had a lot more in it despite being on Comfort Soft tires. Tried a second time and won the event in a photo finish!

Race 3 at Deep Forest: Took a bone stock Radical out there and got 4th on my first try. Got stuck in too much traffic the first couple laps and could t make up ground where necessary. Ran it a second time and got 3rd just 1.4 seconds from the win. Had to give it a 3rd go…. Hmm, same results. 3rd place about 1.5 seconds from winning. I’ll put this one on hold for now and work on the other 2.

Race 4 at Nurburgring: Took a bone stock AMG GT Black and dominated. This car is way too good. I can’t believe they give you this car for free.

Race 5 at Trial Mountain: I don’t own any Gr.2 cars so instead I took the Mazda LM55 VGT Gr.1 out there. Embarrassing…. Won by 26 seconds. I even lapped a guy. So I went back to the garage to look for a more competitive car and staring me right in the face was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen…. The Fridge (Chaparral 2J ‘70). I remember taking this thing out on Sardegna for the license test and it was unreal. Grip for days and brutally fast. So I grabbed “the fridge” and went out there. Oh my goodness is this a great car. Seriously, don’t sleep on the fridge. It drinks gas like crazy so you need to run FM6 to have a 1 pit strategy, but it is a freight train down the straights even on low power. It actually handles pretty well, too. Anyway, took the win with a 12 second lead over 2nd place.

BTW, my fridge was BONE STOCK! Just wanted to make that clear in case anyone was wondering.:dunce:

Edit: 3* daily ticket gave me a 100k gold bar. 5* weekly gave me a 100k gold bar. 3 tickets tonight, 2 were 5* one was 3*. All 3 gave me 100k gold bars. Strange.

992 GT3 RS...I JUST CAN´T GET ENOUGH, I JUST CAN´T GET ENOUGH...
I would encourage everyone to use the 911 GT3 RS (992) '22 for the Schwarzwald League race.

Run it stock with RM tires, that's it, no changes, comes in at 698 pp

It's got phenomenal grip and great turn in and acceleration, a complete blast throw around the ring.

Easy win and a lot of fun. ~7:00 if you don't get too much rain.

This is what I did, but I disagree about the car, it does accelerate well, and it does have great initial turn in, but front end just feel so floaty in grip mid corner, and the grip doesn't match the confidence inspiring turn in. They're not as quick but I prefer some of the older Porkers.

Yeah you can definitely make improvements to the handling and tighten up the suspension a bit with some tuning. I just had a blast throwing it around the 'Ring. :). It was responsive enough that I could make a mistake and correct it without losing control.

Blue moon I used the '15 dodge hellcat, lots of throttle, naff hard tyres meant lots of leery sideways stuff.

The radical is fun, just need to remember its got loads of grip so can push it really hard

For the Nordschleife I used the group 4 Porsche Cayman, have used this at the 30 minute lemans race, I might have nudged the gear ratios a bit (can't remember, but was up to 183mph on the straight), easy wiin in the corners.

Suzuka used a stock Integra Type R, didn't pose any problems.

Trial Mountain I went with the group 2 GTR GT500. Its only about 860PP but is easily fast enough. Medium tyres, FM4, stop end of lap 5 with 1 lap of fuel and plenty of wear on the tyres, out at about P11 I think, but all the passes are easy because the AI seemed to go slower and pit later, passed P1 on lap 9, had plenty of fuel so turned it up.

100k cash from the ticket.

I need to clear out the RB X2019 Menu Book races before I can crack on with this week's races - another week where the events are only unlocked by clearing out the Menu Books... At least it's an excuse to do something different to the usual grinds!

Sounds like this one will be much easier than the RB X2019 last week though...

You can revisit Trial Mountain this week with the X2019 if you want and put it against the Gr2 cars for an easy win.

Edit: a little bit of power restriction will be needed though.

Here's the cars I used for the races :

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240111180713.jpg
A well-tuned FIT for race 1. I reduced power til the car roughly met PD's PP suggestion. Still an easy win.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240111175238.jpg
A well-tuned Model S for race 2. Although the car's a boat ( and always will be ), it completely destroyed the competition.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240111192451.jpg
A bone-stock SR3 for race 3. If you nail the twisty section of the track, you gain enough time to win this.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240111171152.jpg
A bone-stock 911 992 for race 4. Although way below PD's PP suggestion, the car's too fast for this race. An easy win.

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240111170806.jpg
A detuned X 2019 for race 5. ... :sly:

And here's the prize from the 5 star ticket :

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240112162901.jpg
Didn't have that part before and with it being worth 300.000 cr., I'm pretty much ok with it.

Well then ... back to the livery editor until next Thursday.

:gtpflag:

Not sure why anyone would sell the Radical right after the race, it's the second time it's been featured for the Special Event. No doubt it will be used again at some point.

Different strokes, I guess.
I am looking forward to the BAC Mono, and the KTW to make an appearance, and just to have fun i want to see more of the one make races with cars that are seldom used...

Finished the weeklies today with ideas from others here. Used the RB (detuned) for an easy win at Trial. Then detuned my 992 and wow, what a fun beast on Nordschleife! So much grip and easy to thrown into the turns. Heck I didn't even notice we had slight rain. Got the win by 10 secs over a (go figure) E30 M3. Dirty though only because and again, stupid AI racing lines and braking points.
And what do I get with the roulette? 100k. Whoopee.

I finally made some time to begin this weeks challenges, and though I absolutely complained about using the Radical again and Trial Mountain being back on the board this week, I've been having a lot of fun at Blue Moon Bay, Deep Forest and the Ring.

Race one at Suzuka short was done in a completely stock newer Swift Sport which made it easy to beat up on the AI, but wasn't terribly exciting and not really worthy of recording. The Swift is a good car though.

Race two at Blue Moon Bay was a bit more of a race, and I was able to use a C3 Corvette that I made look pretty a while ago yet never used. It's only around 370hp, so I figured it would make for a decent challenge against some higher PP opponents. It didn't really, and it made for easy wins every time, but it was fun enough to drive and oversteery enough that I went back to this race several times for the fun of it and to try and get the CRB while sliding around like an A-hole. Fun stuff.

The Radical race ended up being a TON of fun! The AI were quick enough to where I went back to the replay to see if they were on SH tires like me and to ensure I didn't lower the pp on mine at some point, but were were all on equal footing. It was strange though, because side by side with them on any straight they would pull away from me, so something fishy was going on. The Radical definitely needs to be short shifted to get the most out of it, but I still could not keep pace on the straights.

Regardless, the pace of the AI made for a decent challenge, and the nature of Deep Forest made passing something that needs to be done carefully. Much like the previous race, I did this one three times just because it was so engaging and it brought some real challenge to this weeks races. This one represents some of the fantastic stuff GT7 is capable of.

Radical at Deep Forest: Special Race

Last one for now is the Shwarzwald League at Nurburgring, and for those of us that are fans of the 'Ring, this one was always going to be good. A lot of people were going for the sterile 992 GT3RS but I settled on my tried and true, blisteringly fast Manthey Racing 991 GT3 (in Signal green!). It feels so much more weighty and alive than the 992, and also lets you know that if you mistreat it there are consequences... traits I like in a car!

The AI is basically a non-starter in this one as the rain starts fairly quickly and they simply give up before the rain gauge even reaches the second stage. I was pushing hard well into the meter, but soon started to feel the lack of grip that standing water presented, which saw me going off all by myself two times (no barrier though!).

Another fun race, but not really repeat worthy as the AI just don't show up for the challenge.

991 Porsche GT3 Nurburgring: Shwarzwald League

I should have time to do the WTC 900 sometime this weekend, and I'll be sure to let y'all know how it goes! Thinking about trying to make it work with a tuned Ford GT GR3 car, but we'll see how thirsty it ends up being.

The Radical behaves very well when skipping gears (3-5, for example). So if you're using MT, it becomes easier to keep up with the AI cars on the straights. Learned this from the aliens when the car was featured in one of the Online Time Trials.

Finished the last two events, had a splendid sunny day at Nordschleife (could have used better tyres) with the Porsche 993 '22.

Did TM with the Audi RS5 on RM, did not catch number one and two, was a bit under PPed but it was a cool race.

5* brought 500k, could have been worse.
