May only pick 3 races on the second account this week. Spending over 500k credits on a car I will never use again just to make 500k back isn’t worth it.

Looking forward to that Special Event race. As I don't care too much for credits, I've already bought a new car.
What do you guys think of my very-quick-and-dirty livery :

Gran Turismo™ 7_20240321181811.jpg ??? :D

Ran a few races on my second account this morning. Meant I had to buy a Superbird, but that's OK. Stage 1 weight reduction, Sport Hard tyres. Racing transmission, although I only adjusted the Final. Used @praiano63 suspension and diff settings. Made for an enjoyable drive round this circuit, although maybe a bit too dominant (my second account is set to Normal difficulty, so that may be a part of it). Fairly decent credits payout.

As usual, the preliminary good/bad/ugly, based on prior race notes where available and early online video of this week's challenges (edited 3/23; edits in italics and strikethrough).

Good:
  • Between 1,090,000 Cr. and 1,260,000 Cr. in guaranteed Cr. (depending on CRBs, more on that in a bit) for wins (again, more on that in a bit), solidly in the upper half of the 20 challenge weeks
  • No chance for booby prizes
  • PP requirements are only for the Fuji Neo-Classical Challenge and the Suzuka Race of Turbo Sportscars (though the AI is well under that, at least on normal difficulty)
  • An estimated finish time of 44:15 on normal difficulty (depending on how much rain one gets at Fuji), which is shorter than average and bumps up the Cr./hour ranking of this week a few spots
  • There's a new car for the One-Make/Special Event slot (the Plymouth Superbird), and it just popped up in Hagerty's as a special pick
  • It appears no serious tuning beyond a full-custom transmission and either a full-custom LSD or sport tires is required for the Daytona One-Make/Special Event, as the AI drivers appear to be hampered by stock low gearing as, though the AI has a custom transmission, they're geared for running just the tri-oval (the "no serious tuning" may not apply to those on hard difficulty)
  • There's an event first seen in the latest update (Laguna Seca Japanese Clubman Cup), so there's some residual familiarity
  • There are several cars not available when the Suzuka Race of Turbo Sportscars first became available (at game launch) now in the field, and none are overpowered compared to the rest of the field
Bad:
  • If you were hoping for a chance for a killer prize, like a 4,000,000-Cr. car, this isn't your week
  • If you need to buy the Plymouth Superbird, that's going to take over half the Cr. to get
  • There aren't any Group C cars in Hagerty's at the moment for the Fuji race, and only the Mazda 787B has a realistic shot of making it back before this week's challenges expire
  • It would take a fair bit more Cr. than what is on the line, and I'm not certain it's still a viable choice for the Fuji race, but the Suzuki Escudo is in Hagerty's
  • It is rather easy to lose the CRB at Fuji, which costs 80,000 Cr.
Ugly:
  • The Suzuka race features rain
  • The Fuji race has variable weather, with a good chance of rain
  • If you neither have a Group C car nor are any good with the Escudo, the longtail (1997) BMW McLaren F1 GTR and Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM are very overpriced options

Race 1 - Copen '02 - first I tried with stock, but AI was too fast. Then I tuned car to 371PP and P1 & P2 were still faster then me on straights. I didn't drove some race to remember and finished 3rd - enough for 100k ticket.

Race 2 - 400R '95 - mighty livery and easy win.

Race 3 - TT Coupe 3.2 quattro '03 - picked oldest coupe and done some tuning. Wasn't enough for 1st place, finished 2 seconds behind two leaders. Got 200k ticket.

Race 4 - Mustang GT '15 - typical American Muscle race, with loads of oversteer...

Race 5 - CLK-LM '98 - when you need it, it is here. That was case here with only 4 hours remaining until new set of challenges. Was in pits in lap 8, started raining at l11, didn't pit immediately and feel that in next lap, where I almost reached pits. Took IM, fueled and finished first with more than minute ahead of second...

Got 5 stars ticket and Lamborghini invite from it.

Interesting enough races this week, Superbird race is fun, although for people that don't already have one I can see it being annoying having to spend so much. Turbo Sports Cars has quite variable weather, for me it rained very hard on lap 3 and 4, race is easy enough way under the PP limit though. Neo Classic can be difficult depending on the weather and what the AI does. For me it was a completely dry race and the AI decided to pit on lap 7 and 9 leaving me >30 seconds ahead of the other CLK-LM which was also another 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Ran RH and didn't pit, usually with this race it's easier if it does rain because the AI messes up strategy, either way it's probably easy enough to win with something like an engine swapped R32/33.

Cars from this week:

This week's limited time race has become my favorite event.
I really like the AI Superbirds paying tribute to the great Superbird/Charger Daytona race cars.
*This may be a wrong guess on my part, but I'm especially glad they included the red and green Superbird, which seems to be an homage to Big Willie Robinson. His King/Queen Charger Daytona is my favorite Charger Daytona race cars.
*When I checked again, the green AI Superbird's rear stripe was black. So they weren't paying homage to King Daytona, and I was wrong.😓

It's a shame that such a wonderful event is only available for a limited time. Both Kaz and PD are terrible sadists.

The Superbird is fine. It does need to be tuned.
Nahh, just put on RM tyres and you can win it stock, just be smooth in your inputs on steering and braking.

It's a shame that PD could not get proper permissions for a proper livery that they had to fake it BADLY...

Superbird race was simple, just whacked on some racing medium tyres and away we go, no need to do anything more.

The Fuji Neo Classic, I just brought the McLaren BMW 97 so tried it out there with 90% to get below the 800pp (with racing mediums) to make a change from the CK-LM.

Lovely car - although the AI never fails to amaze me. Was running about 8 seconds behind the lead group in 4th on lap 9 after everyone had pitted, yet the top 3 all pitted again end of lap 9 because they hadn't put in enough fuel on lap 6/7 to get them to the end lol. So glad I didn't quit on lap 7 😂😂

CK-LM is infinitely better than the McLaren BMW though based on that small experiment. Although both feel like they're on rails and lovely to drive.

Did the first three races quickly this morning to grab my daily workout ticket. That Superbird race is a blast. I'll revisit it with a stock car. Like other members, I think it's a downer that these events are time-limited. They take the time to put cool liveries on each car to provide an element of realism only to have it disappear in a week. I don't understand that logic. Are they creating value out of scarcity?

It's the GaaS way.

Decided I'm going to use the kudosprime random car selector method for this week's races. That means:

European Sunday Cup 500 - Citroen DS 21 Pallas (oh dear...) (Alpine A110 '17 as back-up)
Japanese Clubman Cup 550 - Toyota GR Supra RZ '19 (Just won one the other day so that'll be the build for that race!)
Plymouth Superbird One-Make - errr...
Race of Turbo Sportscars - Mercedes-AMG GT Safety Car
Neo-classic Competition - Toyota Supra GT 500 '97

A couple of those should be interesting!

The blasphemous amateur ornithologist won the race on Daytona. No parts added to the car except SM tires for a close run
on hard difficulty. Opponents do not use the stock transmission, they top out at about 150 mph so you have to be quick
through the infield, exiting onto the oval and through the chicane.

The pass for the win.

I wasn't able to get around to doing the other two challenges for the last week, but for this week, I'm gonna try to do them all this weekend, since my sister and her family are coming to visit for about a week on Monday.

EDIT: Especially since that's at least 800k credits to earn, and I really wanna build those back up since I recently bought myself a Ferrari 330 P4.

Good luck trying to win anything in the DS Pallas, the A110 should more than suffice.

In order.

Still messing with the Supra. The race above, was me in 3rd after heavy rain. I spun at the penultimate corner and the CLK took the spot across the line. The pic below was justice in the next race. CLK ran out of fuel before the line, but this was for 8th.

Your Superbird looks fantastic - guess that's how it should be. :) And so is the photo btw, with a perfect amount of noise added. 👍

Thank you. Love this stuff.
PD went through all that trouble to make some awesome liveries. Could have made a Racing Modified version. They even added the Racing exhaust and Racing Transmission.

Quite surprised that the Superbird race was as easy as it was, the AI cars were barely tuned for how much effort went in to making them all look as good as they did.
I won convincingly on Hard with nothing but a custom manual gearbox, everything else (including tyres) was stock, at 468pp.

Great race for photo ops though - it's another event that I will be sad to see banished to the ether after this week is over.
