Now that I've seen, bought and tried most of the new toys the update brought, I got myself ready for the next Weekly Challenges. Here's the ( randomizer ) cars I'll go with :

The Nissan is dialed in for roughly 390 km/h top end ... :D

Just as I thought I was done with the oscillation issue. Propably have to skip the group c as I really dont want to break my wheel..
Assume you've turned down in game ffb?

I usually run 10 ffb (8 for gt3 cars and above).

Forgot about this earlier when my first attempt at this race was cheesing it with 900pp 16 audi (yeah I know). Felt like the wheel was going to smash itself to pieces/fire itself through the ceiling!,:D

Had to go down to ffb2 for it to be just about OK.

I use fanatec dd pro 8nm.

Great race btw. Can't recall driving cars like this on le man's before. Speed you can carry round turns, compared to the 30 min 700pp race.

Can see this circuit was made for group 1/c etc. Really comes to life.

Rarely do the 30 min 700pp race as feels like I'm going to fall asleep (quite literally a few times :D!) Difficult to remain engaged, with such long, wide straights in lesser powered cars... even with the chicanes.

Really enjoyed this week, great selection of races and tracks with a bunch of different cars you can use, topped off with a fantastic race at Le Mans. Jimny cup was my least favourite just because I hate the GT7 version of Grand Valley, even more so having been playing Spec II for GT4. Japanese Clubman Cup was great and is on my favourite layout of Tokyo, AI isn't super fast so there's a lot of either stock or slightly modified road cars you can run. Rallycross is a nice change, I don't like the cutting rules at the chicane as they seem rather arbitrary and pointless when there's immovable tyre stacks anyway but the Impreza Rally Car did the job easily. Porsche Cup again is on a great track, cars are just the right speed for it and I used the new 911 Turbo S which was a bunch of fun to drive, really can feel the weight of it. Final race at Le Mans was absolutely great too, lots of classic liveries and that first lap at night was really immersive going down the Mulsanne. I wish it got light a bit slower, more of that sunrise light would've been really nice to race in and honestly this could be a 10 lap race with weather and I'd love it even more. Used the R92CP on RH, think I was on 800/1300 downforce which meant it was >370 km/h in the draft and it was just a ton of fun to drive. One complaint is that I would like to have a wider brake bias adjustment range as even on +5 I sometimes find it hard to modulate without locking the fronts on a controller at low speed.

This weeks cars:

I appreciate that we have even 1 special event, but I would much prefer 5 per week. And please for god’s sake bring the grid close and try a grid start or at least a close rolling start. I am sick to death of chase the rabbit.

I’ll preface by saying that I haven’t done a special event since the Gallardo one but each one I’d played until then, and including the Gallardo race, had you starting from the back.

Just mix it up guys. Please. Bring the grid closer and mix up the starting positions. Make it feel like a real racing event and not GT7 single player part 2. That they’re still doing it this way, shows that they don’t see an issue with this format.

It’s terrible, and the only saving grace is that it’s a new event. The Group C one is particularly cool because it’s Group C - but it’s more of the same going off @Fuzzi0n’s video above.

I’m glad they exist rather than have nothing but please, PD, actually make it feel like a real race.

Civic EK Touring Car one make was one of the most fun with a close grid rolling start, I agree. Chase the rabbit gets boring after a while.

Did the last race with the 919 with the Medium TB and on easy and even with the 919 having better handling I only won by 15 seconds.

Hey that brings up a challenge can this race be won with the 919 with the Medium TB which brings the 919 hp up to 590 on hard mode?

And you have to follow the rules so no cutting.

I personally think its not possible not on this version of le man those group c cars are just to fast down the straight.

My biggest gripe with chase the rabbit is that whether you can win the race or not feels predetermined depending on which car you use.

Of course, with GT7's AI, you'd probably be able to park an Abarth in front of the Group C's and still win. With a 30-million-credit traffic queue behind you.

Good ideas from Poly with DTM races, Group C races, etc. But what about their posterity?

If they keep the best stuff for one-off events that disappear every week, then hopes about new championships or cool events that will stay in the game are over. They just keep them in stock to please their "conected players" stats.

It's interesting at the time, but I can't help but be frustrated by this choice. All of this ends up disappearing quickly without leaving a trace.

The DTM are JGTC races are easy to recreate with the custom race editor and you get even better AI when you do that(and better liveries if you do them yourself or if you search for community made liveries) and you can apply fuel consumption and tyre wear if you like...
The Group C race is a bit expensive to recreate, but it is still possible...

Of course I always need someone to told me about this because I have zero imagination.

Custom race mode is poisoned by rubber banding and other bad design decisions, just like they are making bad design decisions with Weekly Challenges. Not that Weekly Challenge is bad in itself, simply that it would be better if they permanently kept the best of what they can do.

I remember in the early days of the game that PD made the liveries used by CPU drivers available in several main mode events via their profile called Sagittarius, I wonder why they can't do the same now, damn laziness...

I have to say i feel the same way. Made a post about it in the 1.54 update topic.

This Le Mans event this week throws me back so hard to the older GT games. With each update and Special Event we are getting, the more i realize how much they took away from us with GT7. Those Special Events were just the main bulk of events in older GT games. Now they appear once if we are lucky and that's it.

Why can't they make it so that after the weekly events are done, the Special Events become available in the main game? Or add them with the next update maybe? I would be so happy if we got the DTM races as a championship for example.

I've got a really bad feeling that we'll only get these Special Events as a permanent fixture when the servers are closed and we receive the final offline patch.

Even that i don't really see it that way.

And let's hope the final patch is still some time away :D
