I don't understand why this is the case, and it does make it harder to dial in the funnest tune for these drives.

Seems like the AI tend to use SH tires with a lot of power, which is fine, but I usually end up around 600 PP if I try to tune the same way and to be competitive enough to win.
Yeah, Silvia Sisters races actually have a 600pp recommended value, even though the game says 500. At that value you'll just get thrashed badly.

Is why i do NOT use a swapped car, i will tune it with available parts and tweaking suspension and transmission and hang on for dear life as some of my tuning does become unstable at key points where I do need stability...

Reinstalled the game just for the Bathurst 1 hour. There really should be a race like this on all the real tracks. Good fun but way too easy on normal difficulty, needed the Maggiore mission AI. Full blast 2-stop on softs, crawled around the last lap to avoid doing another and very nearly crossed the line too early.

Do hard difficulty and use a GR3 car. It’s challenging and fun. Definitely the most fun race in a while.

Agreed. Genuinely hard work with getting through even the AI traffic around most of this track! What I will say is that it did NOT feel like I was driving for an hour, in a good way.

Ran the whole race on FM1 soft, pitted on lap 11 (full tank) and 23 (7 laps fuel). Finished after 30 laps.

Got into the lead lap 15, from then on it was wait for clear track and attempt to beat my own fastest lap.

Naturally (without any artificial slowing) finished at 1hr, 0min, 21s - after a pesky back marker sent me into a spin on the penultimate lap, costing me quite a bit of time.

Idiot AI had me behind them the whole back straight, and decided to slow right down just at the right hander at the end of the straight so I had to swerve to avoid them. Lol

Did enjoy this, I'd love an endurance "Sophy" race at some point. That would be utterly amazing.

That would explain why I have such a massive power deficit on the straights despite my efforts. That said, I destroy them in the corners thanks to the tuning (though the Racing Hards also help as well).

What PP was your M6? I did the race using the DTM Audi at 799 PP but it was way too easy.

Did it with a swapped and moderately tuned Sileighty with 607PP and on SHs, but 2 cars were still much faster on the straights...and one of them was also quite quick in the corners, finished 2nd in a photo-finish...

The next weekly challenges special event will be a 60 minute race at Barcelona Rallycross with a payout of 1000 credits.
Booking time off work as we speak.

Definitely one to repeat several times...

A day.

Not a big fan of Mt Panorama myself. I don't hate like I hate Big Willow & Barcelona Rallycross but it is not one of my favs
Rallycross circuit is a complete joke. In normal size cars, it feels like a banger car race.

Excruciating navigating some of the sharp turns, particularly after short straights where you don't get out of 3rd gear.

No idea what pd were thinking, by introducing this joke of a track into a game like this. Started watching replay. 12 or 16 cars all squashed together at the start, squirming towards the 1st turn, when carnage commences. Surely races like this aren't held there in irl? Expensive cars mindlessly piloted into a grinder?

Yeah, about that:

I think 767pp ish with softs on. Could be a better challenge with mediums if you can average 2.04-2.05 lap times?

I think we are in slightly different leagues! 😅

I can hit a 2:03xx on softs in a stock M6 with RS tyres, hence I reckon any stock Gr.3 car on Hard difficulty would be very challenging for me. I thought I was doing great in my last race until I remembered I'd switched to Normal difficulty to complete the Willow Springs event, which is also very hard on Hard difficulty for me.

That said, the Audi DTM was a cakewalk, even on Hard difficulty, but I may try detuning that, or using a tuned Gr.3 for more of a challenge next time.

I did Silvia Sisters with non swapped cars as well, I won the Tokyo one by a hair once with a non swapped Q's S13 with 570-something PP. Those races are definitely harder than PD makes them look like.

Yep, to keep up on the straights you need 600pp with Sports tires (which means quite a lot of power). You can definitely beat them in the corners even at 500pp, depends on the track layout.

How about wasting 1 hour for 1.5 Mcr?
There is a race at Spa you can do every time and the only way you can blow the CRB is a yellow flag penalty.
And it's a shame that's the only 1h endurance race in the game, I do it from time to time since it's good fun but I'd love to vary.

Ahem. The Human Comedy would like a word with you...
"ThEy DoN't CoUnT aS rAcEs SiNcE yOu CaN't ReDo ThEm" or some other such utter nonsense.
Well, they are a one time only thing though, since the reward is only for first time completion. I'd just rather do some endurance custom racing, so I can at least get some money (I still have lots of 20M unicorns to buy), but I guess that goes on personal taste.

If we got to use that AI for custom racing though. That would be THE thing.

I kind of wish I'd held off on announcing the randomness function on the randomiser now... because I just added something much cooler this evening, and I feel a bit bad for making two separate posts this close together.

So I wrote this post in the general discussion thread earlier today:
This is the problem GT always has with trying to cater to both the more sim race-y "GT3 cars should only race other GT3 cars" immersion/realism crowd and the "I should be able to tune my Silvia into a racing car and beat the race car events" classic GT game fans at the same time. Pretty much every decision they make on some level has to be routed around that schism.

In this case they've prioritised the latter.
and my brain went "if people play the game like this then why does the randomiser not support it?". So, well, now it does! There's now an option to manage your tunes, where you can enter cars you have at a specific PP:

and then it will add those tunes to the pool of eligible cars! For example, the 720PP R32 Nismo in the above screenshot can now generate for me for this week's WTC800 event.

Tonight I drove the 1hr at Mount Panorama and got the 5 races set completed.

That race is fun! However is not perfect. I wish the night period (or should say sunrise?) were longer, also the traffic.... It can get in your nerves. The AI breaks so early in the downhill section.

Other than that, fun race. Mount Panorama is such a nice track with such a nice flow.

Today I drove a Viper Gr3 (my favorite Gr3 car) if I have the time I'll try at least one different car. The real challenge would be getting a clean race bonus. 😅

I agree that it's infuriating, even the lead driver was around 2 seconds a lap slower in the downhill section, it was fairly "even" for the rest of the lap.

Given I only won by 42 seconds over 30 laps, this race would be so much better if the computer driver programming was adjusted during this bit.

Obviously we would lose time to the leader, but at the same time we wouldn't be held up so much in traffic through there so would gain some of that back, so over 30 laps it would be a very close run to the finish!

My thoughts exactly, why the night is so short ??

And the moving chicanes... getting the CRB is a challenge I won't even attempt.

Too bad the prize is so low after you got the ticket the first time.

I'm not too thrilled about the Bathurst challenge, do I even have the patience to do it? I gotta pick the appropriate car for me to get the job done, and I would like to get a CRB too. If it's possible. It's gonna be tricky since it starts at night.

Good luck with the CRB on this one. An hour around Bathurst with that problematic AI on the downhill, you'll be lucky to make 5 clean laps, let alone a whole clean race! Best just aim to get it done.
