I definitely have skill issues with the Super Formulas. Decided to do the weeklies on Hard Mode for the first time and it took me 2 Hours to beat it.

Death Chicane I thought was going to be scary but it was actually the saving grace that got me to catch up to the Hard A.I that take it slow. You have to be consistent 22s to 23s (or faster of course) to have any hope of getting in front, too many 24s and youre gone. I could definitely go faster if I knew how to take the top corner not so slow with these cars. The A.I 90% of the time just pulled away

Also pitting is a death sentence the most of the Hard A.I don't pit. This part I did overcomplicate which made it take longer than it should. I did Softs, couldnt made it to the end, did Mediums thought I couldnt make it to end. Did Hards, too slow, did Mediums Front, Hards Back and while doable, my skill issue of the accelerator wasnt doing me any favours. So I went back to Mediums and not pit and thats what got me the win.

Another delightful Friday morning drive. Normal difficulty.

weekly-challenge-202501w1-r1.JPG

Brands Hatch - Toyota Sports 800 '65 - I was worried that this car would be under powered, but when I put some SS tires on it, the PP went just over the suggested 350PP limit. Easy win. First ticket won.

weekly-challenge-202501w1-r2.JPG

Sardegna - Porsche 911 Turbo (930) '81 - Upgraded the tires to SS. Beauvois put up a fight for the final lap, but he never had a chance. Easy win. Second box checked.

High Speed Ring - Roadster Shop Rampage - This car is a monster here. I upgraded to SS, as usual. Blew the field away. Second ticket won.

weekly-challenge-202501w1-r4.JPG

Nurburgring - Lexus SC430 GT500 '08 - This took a couple attempts. In the first, it started raining and I had no wet-weather tires. In the second attempt, there was no rain. I ran a no-stop strategy on RM tires, saving fuel by shifting at around 1/3 of the way up the rev bar. Overtook the leader when they pit at the end of lap 8. Finished with just a sliver of tread left on the tires for an easy win. Fourth box checked.

Dragon Trail - SF19 Super Formula / Toyota '19 - Ran a no-stopper on RM tires. A mostly uneventful race. I did run into the back of some of the AI drivers when they brake checked through the CoD. The death chicken only nipped me once with a rub against the wall on the exit. Fun race, though. Final ticket won.

Wow, I've already beat the first three events with a gold medal. This SF event will be sick. I'm hoping to grind a lot here, well I'd have to do 15 laps and get a CRB everytime. And it should be a breeze since it's at Dragon Trail.

I actually loved this week’s choices. Even though I dislike the ‘Ring GP course with that suicide first turn, it was fun! The Formula race, now that was a challenge for me, not because of the track, heck it’s my test track! But I’ve never raced Formula cars there and my muscle memory was out of sync with the Formula cornering limits!! All done, will repeat a few rounds more!!

Cars this week:

For the Sunday race nothing beats a fully mechanically analog old car 😁

I said it a lot of times and will keep saying it; Nissan’s Millenium Jade is just perfect on any car, specially this M3 Evo

Keeping it good ol’ analog muscle:

For the WTC900 race, just a 1-stop run on my GTR “Road car version”

And obviously the F car:

Haven't logged in here since the GT5 days. This week's challenges have been fun, had trouble with the WTC900 at first but managed it eventually.

Brands Hatch Indy Circuit_.jpeg

Played with a classic at Brands Hatch with an old Renault. Always fun to drive my seldom driven cars.

Sardegna - Road Track - A_.jpeg

Went to Sardegna with my Alfa. One of the most underrated cars in the game, in my opinion. Maxed out and tuned well it handles like a dream. In my list of overlooked great cars with the likes of the VW Scirocco and Maserati Merak.

High Speed Ring Reverse_.jpeg

The Plymouth Ghia is quite the beast to tame when you really hot rod it. But heck its fun.

Nürburgring GP_.jpeg

The GT500 GT-R is boring but predictable. Not my favourite Gr2 car but it does the job.

Dragon Trail - Seaside__1.jpeg

The Super Formula race was really exhilarating. I could see myself doing it again.

What difficulty level are you using? Good luck getting that CRB with the SF cars.

I adored the SF event this week. Yeah, traction is an issue in the low speed corners, but being able to send it flat out everywhere else is so much fun - especially the chicane of death.

Did the race on mediums in the high 22's with my FL a 21.01.

More of these races please!

Not bad of a week except for the SF. It reminded me why I've only completed one race in the Book. Totally failed in this race, not even close so I'm done with that.
Anyway.....
WTC900 was in my WTC800 Audi but in regular form which bumps it above 800. Did this race quite awhile back so a decent win. Sorry forgot the pic. lol
HSR in my Aussie Camaro with an easy win. It was over at the end of lap 1.

Sardegna in a car I've never driven or drove once. Right under the suggested PP. Won by about 10 seconds.
Sardegna - Road Track - A_ by 2cam16, on Flickr
Brands in one of my Minis, a bit over the suggested PP. Won by about 6 seconds.

Now that I've done the new events here's my short report. First three races have been quite unspectacular, three easy wins with CRB. Had to restart once at HSR because I lost my car when trying to avoid the Viper making a sudden move at 250 kmh. I've used the old Giulia Sprint at Goodwood, the Dino at Sardegna and the Fugu Z at High Speed Ring.

Stupid me thinking I could get anywhere with my trusty R92CP at Nürburgring GP. For whatever reason I wasn't competitive at all and when the rain set in right after I had passed the pits, I quit. Changed into the Audi RS 5 instantly and that's been another race then. Slowly advanced through the field, was in front by lap 7 and cruised to the win.

Now the Super Formula event - I really had a hard time getting up to speed. I'm very cautious by nature  and it took many many laps to get confident and realize where I can actually go flat out with this car. Followed some of you who went with RM tires for a no stop strategy and in my first complete ( 15 laps ) attempt I reached P3 at least, the two front runners were unbeatable. The second attempt brought the win. I feel there's still a lot to improve, so I'm planning to have more practice races and even a comparison between the 2019 and 2023 models. Photos ? Photos :

I finished the events of this week WC with the exhilarating SF race and oh, boy... What a blast!
Unfortunately, though, I've been bitten by the no-ticket bug for the 1st time. I haven't received any of the 3 prize tickets. Which is weird because, if I remember correctly, it is usually potentially linked to some sort of tinkering with time zones or accounts in the console. That's not my case.
The only different thing I did, which I can think of, is that I finished last week 1h race at MP after the due date for the set of events, having started the race minutes later than Thursday night 23.00. It was actually already Friday, early minutes, when I got the last ticket price. After a nights sleep, I run this week WC set of races completely on the very same day (Friday morning)... But got no tickets 😑

What are the tire/fuel strats for races four and five?
Race 4 depends on your tires. If you're using mediums on a GT500 car (Preferably 2016), a 1 Stop around lap 5 or 6. If on Hards, a No Stop (With some fuel saving I suspect).

Race 5 is a no Stop, 5X Tire Wear on Mediums and 3X Fuel use won't require a stop.

Abit later then intended, but here it is:

Sunday Cup Classic: Mini Cooper S. My lil' green menace just barely tuned for some of the first Menu Books I did. Easy peezy, Lemon Squeezy.

European Sunday Cup 600: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. My Superleggera build, Pretty much got things done just as easy.

American Sunday Cup 700: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6). Old Mellow Yellow was brought out for the first time in a while, tons of fun to just overtake on the outside of Turn 1 and just carry that speed.

World Touring Car 900: Honda NSX GT-Concept. One of my best drives to date, did it on stock setup and managed a 1 stop on the mediums and caught the leading GT-Rs on the final lap. Overtook just after the Schumacher S and victory achieved. Kinda curious if pulling off a Med-Soft 1 stop is possible. Won't be as much fuel so theoretically, Wear wouldn't be as severe.

Super Formula: Dallara SF23 Honda. Absolute blast, The Chicane of death is nothing in this car, just throw it in and you'll stick every time. Reminds so much of driving it at Watkins Glen.

SuperFormula race - did it on softs, was about 2 seconds faster most laps (low 21s at my best, about 22s on average). Still finished 9th as no one else pitted (grrr).

Will try now with the mediums! Very fun to drive though

Edit - mediums was the better choice. Fastest lap was 1.3 seconds down on softs but held in the 1.22s for the whole race aside from traffic / mistakes, won by 1.8 seconds in the end.

Just tried to do 15 on softs, disaster on the last lap going from first to ninth.. nothing left at all😂
Will try mediums next time..

Did it on mediums. Spun on my first lap and won.
No need to pit.

Nice to get 1 Million from some quick races.

Well, what a waste of time this afternoon. Surely, I would have thought I would place 2nd or 3rd. But nope. That was the longest 22-23 minutes ever in my life. These AI are tough this go-round, and it's no point in me trying the other 3 SF cars because they may not get me much progress either. And it would be too hard and insane to try using MT with this machine. Hope I'm not forced to. How is everyone else getting better results and we're all using the same SF cars, I think the horsepower is almost the same for each car. Another freaking block from the 750,000k.

The SF19 has more power, less weight, and more downforce. It also has, I think, less boost in the overtake mode - but since you're not actually using it at all for some reason, that's immaterial.

I ran it in Normal difficulty (as always; it's more consistent and there's no surprise "lol Easy is Hard!" stuff) and won by almost 10 seconds on Racing Hards and no-stopping. But I was also six seconds a lap faster than you.

Try it on Easy, get a button mapped for the overtake boost, and then use it - but only in 4th gear leaving each of the three hairpins: get the car straight and not spinning the tyres or flickering the TCS, shift up to 4th and boost until you shift up to fifth.

Edit: You should be taking the chicane of death flat in fifth. You're braking and already in fourth, and usually turning into it far too late.

I ran the SF19 on mediums and didn't even use the boost to win.
The chicane is flat and you can take most other corners either flat or in 3rd.

My replay for whoever wants to watch for gears and where to be flat.
The first couple of laps aren't great as I haven't played in months.

I'd suggest dropping your traction control setting (assuming that's what it is) as it's cutting in almost everywhere where it's completely unnecessary and losing you a lot of time in the faster corners. On top of that you'll just have to practice, running RH or RM and not stopping and playing on easy is probably the way to go.

Had some fun in the WTC900 again this time in an "unmolested" RS5 which drove better than my other one. Totally forgot that rain was a possibility. I had to go in at the end of lap 8 for a splash of fuel and luckily that's when the heavens opened or I would have been in the same situation as the AI's. Went for IM's and a lot of them were still on RM's. Was in second at the end of lap 9 when 1st had to box. Talk about a slippery last lap in the downpour. Fun stuff!
