Tried the Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 Viper.

Both times the AI just completely pulled away.
So had another crak today. Chucked the Supercharger on the Gr. 3 and the racing transmission.

Go into the settings to adjust the gears to discover my ECU output was down to 81. FFS.

Got into first after 3 laps and won by 7 seconds.

800PP race @ High Speed Ring was a breeze in the R92CP, heavy rain started just after 5 laps so go into the pits and than it was just on the wets for the rest of the race, even when the racing line started drying out in the last 5 laps I just stayed on the wet parts of the track.

I'm struggling with the Viper event, those car are rough yo take turn. Any good tune recommendations for this one?

I rarely tune cars for the weeklies but found the group 3 viper had terrible understeer, softened up the front (reduce the antiroll/sway bar / spring rate / damping ) and it was much better. As usual Ai are slow through corners, so you can easily catch them, especially in to the bus stop, the group 3 is probably a bit much to be honest.

High speed ring was much more fun this week, I used the Merc CLK LM, even on FM 6 it was too much, but easy to drag the car low in the last corner off the line the Ai use and pass. Think I was a lap or two short of no stopping so waited until the tyres (mediums) were screwed and did a late stop.

Ah you're right, I forgot about the NSX. The Randomizer was recently upgraded with a feature to include custom tunes, as I do have a 700pp NSX I've added it. All the remaining cars are indicated at stock PP values.

Did you win the viper event with the recommended car?

For me its impossible I think, seems like the high-speed ring race is another one that I don't think I will be able to win with the recommended car.

Had to upgrade this car to 600+ HP for it to have enough power to beat the other Vipers.

Last two done (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202502w3-r4.jpg

Daytona Road Course - Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R '15 - I made an initial attempt at this with an all-stock Viper GTS '13 on RS tires, but it became immediately clear that a whole lot of upgrades would be needed to make the car competitive. So I switched to the Gr.3 car on RS tires. I was expecting an easy win with it, but it turned out to be a real challenge. Some of those tuned road cars are really fast. I only managed to take the lead on the final run through the chicane. Fun race. Fourth box checked.

High Speed Ring - Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 '13 - I couldn't remember if there was rain in the race, so I planned to run a 10RS-10RS strategy. Started on RS tires. I was having trouble making any gains on the first couple laps because I was fuel saving. The rain came on lap 5, though, and I pitted for IMs and fuel. I threw on the driving line assist, driving just to side of it, and easily worked my way through the entire field. I continued fuel saving so I could stay out until the track dried enough for slicks. Pitted on lap 15 for them and it was a cakewalk to the win. Final ticket obtained.

That was a fun set of races this week.

The Viper Daytona race is a lot of fun. I first jumped into my GTS '02 before 3 laps in deciding that was a wrong choice... Had to use the Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R '15 for my second attempt (didn't win, as I spun but will have another go tomorrow). Shame there's no damage/penalties/wear as this would be a great race (and series!)

I really liked the AI in this race, they didn't seem to want to PIT me like they do in the Gr.3 race here (though I'm sure it was purely circumstantial).

Dear lord. Please don't make me run Daytona in a Viper again.

Didn't want to spend a stack of money on tuning up any of the road cars i have - even though that's what most of the competition is made up of, so i used the Gr3 Viper.

Those Vipers do not like changes in track camber. They don't like braking either. Found you had to be so acurate with your braking points. Brake a meter too late, you're understeering not just onto the grass but you're probably going to be tasting armco too. Brake a meter too early? - you're getting one of the following cars smashing into your backside. I can only assume that the AI road-based cars are fitted with carbon ceramic brakes as they certainly appear to stop like they do.

I ran the Viper One-Make more times than I'd care to admit... But can you blame me (yes...)? We get to drive 800-1000hp tuned Vipers into the sunset!

Which Vipers did I drive? YES.

The Viper GTS '02 was surprisingly quick. It also sounded unhinged.

The SRT10 Coupe, IMO looks the coolest, but lacks downforce. It's the forgotten middle child of the bunch, despite AI Super Fraga's exploits

Meanwhile, the Viper Gr.4's performance was predictably disappointing because max tuned Gr.4 cars will always be disappointing.

The Group 3 Viper was OK. I had trouble duplicating my Time Trial times under High Speed BoP despite having more power and much stickier tires. Skill issue. It was fun watching the AI road Vipers bully this.

Do NOT ask about how many credits I spent either

Who was the fastest? The Viper GTS '13 was in a class of its own. Easily the fastest platform (1000hp+!!) - even before we mention the 1800+hp Chiron swap that @Tommy_D used.

My fastest run on hard difficulty:

Here's my tune

  • Widebody
  • Wide wheels
  • All aero parts
  • Use 3rd gear for slow corner exits - more sluggish than 2nd Gear, but way less wheel spin
  • I use the Semi Racing Exhaust because it sounds nice to me. Use what you like,

After all upgrades, the GTS's engine displacement is apparently so huge that GT7 does not want to show us:lol:

The WTC800 race has made me a bit doubtful of the current rain physics to be honest.

I got a race where the dampness bar almost got to the second notch (it never went above it to the point it changes colour). I stayed on RH the entire race, and while I was 15-odd seconds a lap slower in the worst of the rain, it was also way more stable than I was expecting. At no point was I ever worried I was going to lose grip and crash, or did it ever feel like the car didn't want to turn in to corners.

That feels like it shouldn't have worked, but it did.

Challenges all completed with wins this week. All pretty easy, even on hard setting, with the exception of the Viper race. The AI cars were very aggressive, causing me to get spun out several times, so it took a few attempts to complete.
I do love the Carrera GT…🥰
