PD having a big laugh. I won on my third start FM3 until lap 6 and then FM1 & FM2 for the final laps. Finished with .3 laps in the tank.

First race, I was up P6(on lap one!) until the exit of the third chicane, when I spun after a tank slapper. Thing is, AI were so slow(Hard difficulty). Braking way before the corners. I picked up four places before T1 with no touching. Then, each corner was more early braking by AI. That was soon to end.

Started the second attempt and AI weren’t having it. I spun again at the third chicane, on lap 6, but on worn tyres. Was only P9.

Last race had me up to P8 for the majority. The FM3 was killing me. AI pit with 23 second lead. I slotted between P1 and P2 as the AI exited the pits(didn’t realise the AI were on RS). I got the lead when AI slowed for the second chicane. From there, I was able to manage the gap each chicane the AI braked. Close finish.

Cr. 500,000 for my ticket

Decent week it was.
Monza-I no shamed it and went straight to Easy. RM on FM3 for more than half then went to FM1. I was in 5th chasing Valerio on lap 7 when all four in front pitted. I was no -pitting so had a decent 3-4 second lead until took a pen at (of course) T1 and that got me scrambling. Got overtaken my Kylian after taking the pen but was able to hold on to second. I'm done. lol

Lake Louise in the car I've won this race in when it first came out, AE86. Easy win.

St. Croix in my swapped 991. Another easy win.
Circuit de Sainte-Croix - B_ (9) by 2cam16, on Flickr
Watkins Glen was my chance to showcase a livery I made for one of my Sierra Cosworths. I didn't have a decent suggested pp car so this was it at 647pp. Easy peasy.

HSR was my chance too to drive a van I haven't used yet. Modded Hi-Ace. It didn't have to guts on the straights to only placed 3rd. Went back and won it in my LC500.

Ticket got me 500k.

I passed the event with the following setup (that normally I don't use at all, meaning much less control activated):

Difficult = Easy
TC = 5
ASM = On
Counter-steering assistance = Strong
Tyre = HARD
Fuel = 6 after 1 lap 5 and after one lap 4 and set 3 and only last lap 4 again

Strategy = no pit and hoping the others will do it.

2nd position and with some less mistake here and there could do 1st without big issues.

I think that I could start with fuel at 4 and kept till the end.
Thank you, I will give this a go later.

I thought this one was gonna be a lot harder for some reason. No stop on Mediums, BB-3 and TCS1, just shift at half bar to save the fuel.

Thank you!

This is an excellent tune.

The F1 now handles as it should do!

I used fuel 3 and moved the brake bias back one and TCS 4, won the race on Easy mode.

First race at HSR reverse I did in a stock Skyline 2000GT-R ‘70. Had first place for a while but the Silvia just had a bit more horsepower and was able to out accelerate me on the long straight. Lost by .084 seconds. But I only had 400pp. That Silvia is 485pp stock.

The second race at Watkins Glen was in my “John Wick” Boss 429. 502pp in a 550pp race. Got second place because the stock 4 speed transmission unfortunately makes the car top out at 120mph. Fun car though with some really basic bolt-on mods done to it.

The third race in the snow race was laughably easy. Won by 25 seconds over the AI in a stock Focus.

Fourth race at St Croix was done in a stock RUF RGT 4.2. I tried a stock Audi R8 v10 at first but that car sucks. It may be one of the worst driving cars in the game. So the RUF fit the bill at 650pp. Got first with an 8 second lead. Down tuning this car with SH tires makes it 628pp but I could only get 2nd about 10 seconds behind the AMG Black. He just took off on the last lap.

Fifth race at Monza in the F-3500 was actually pretty easy. RM tires with short shifting and TC2 made it a first try win for me. 2.5 seconds ahead of 2nd place. Kept the same suspension and aero setup as I used for the HSR race a couple weeks back but shortened the transmission gearing since the top speed wasn’t going to be so high.

6 star ticket gave me a Genesis Gran Racer VGT which I sold for 502k credits.

Any engine tune? I played with it and lost the original engine tune.

Alas no. I did a one stop, lap 6 on FM1 with a short stint (2 laps ?) on FM2. I did not change tires.

For the 950pp tune I left it on RM, did not do anything with suspension or diff or downforce and only changed output adjustment to 93, ballast 19, -50 to the front and power restrictor to 90. I ran TCS2 with this but could probably run TCS1. This was very drivable and I am sure if I played with suspension and diff it would be even faster/easier.

Weeklies gave me an excuse to drive a really cool selection of cars. The F1 race was actually a lot of fun, a bit of lift and coast and occasional Fuel Mode 3 in the middle of the lap in preparation for a defensive push at the end to maintain 1st. Got the Hyundai gr.1 car from the 6 star ticket and of course it's nearly at the bottom of its market curve so I'll sell it on another day.

How are you guys so quick in the Monza Special Event? I know I’m terrible with downforce cars of any kind, but I shouldn’t be so far off. I was running 1:33s on FM2 with RMs, but no where close to winning on easy. The penalties kill me too. I am running the base tune, but trimmed the aero to minimums. Any tips guys?

Don't change the aero. Actually, don't change anything. RM tires and fuel map 2 with short shifts. If you have trouble with the traction, add a little TC. I don't bother with stops. The RM tires have more than enough life for the entire race.

I suspect you are sneaking through the chicanes too slowly. Although, if you want, you can get the adjustable transmission and stretch it out for lower revs on the straights.

Surreal that I won the F1 race after 10 attempts. [always played at easy level] time: 15.25.674. Won by 4 seconds. Tires RM. Suspension settings are all on the lowest except toe angle front 1.00 rear 0.00. Top speed 320. Downforce front: 950 rear: 1400. Fuel map at 3-4 as other players here. Edit 4: Front toe out: 1 rear toe out: 0. Edit: tcs: 2. Edit 2: LSD all at 5.
Edit 3: on another user account I just did 15.15.011 & won by 14 secs. Adjusted top speed to 330 & rear toe [out] 0.13. front downforce: 1000. Rest as above.

The most important after the strategy listed in my post and many other posts depending on driving style, is that the many turns on Monza are unforgiving because the average speed is so extremely high.

Embarrased to see that I was already on easy but strategy is really important here. I used @Pigems tune which also helped a lot, thanks!

FM4 for the first couple of laps then FM3 from Lap 3 onwards.
I was 5th on lap 7, and took the lead as the front 4 pitted - as I cross the line to start 8th lap got 1st!
Still had 35% fuel and 75% tyres at this point.

During lap 9 I moved it to FM2 after the Lesmos as my lead had dropped from 10 sec to 8.5 and for the final lap hit FM1 as the lead continued to drop (new softs vs old mediums)

Crossed the line in 1st 4 seconds ahead of 2nd. Thanks for the posts describing strategies and victories, it is encouraging!

Monza is brutal. Every mistake is compounded and punished by most of the corners leading to long straightaways. And then that is triple compounded by the F3500-A being an ultra twitchy mess of a momentum car with massive traction issues and a powerful NA engine that wishes to become the Suzuki Escudo engine when it grows up.
  • mess up the first chicane? +0.6 to 1.5 seconds
  • mess up the second chicane? +0.6 to 1 second
  • bad exit / too slow through Lesmo 2? +0.4 to 0.8 seconds
  • bad entry / not enough speed through Ascari? +0.8 to 2 seconds
  • brake too late / too early - get on the gas too late / too early in the final turn? = +0.5 and now the next lap is compromised

TIPS
  • I believe higher downforce is the way to go - 1200 / Max at the front
  • Reduce downforce a little in the rear - you are balancing safety versus turn-in sharpness
  • Taller gears or TCS 2 if you're (understandably) sick of dealing with wheelspin - it can save you if go wide at Lesmo 1 and 2
  • Try Counter Steering Assist - it keeps some of the high speed twitchiness in check
  • Calm down, hit your marks, stay consistent

The potential extra top speed of a low downforce setup was not worth it for me compared to all the momentum I lost fighting for grip. Especially through Ascari and the final corner.

Though we're running custom setups, I think these are good baselines to help you figure out where to find time

That’s how I ran it, too. I finished 3 seconds ahead. For my first try, I ran RS on FM1, pitting on lap 6. I got smoked.

I think I won with 20 seconds, I often use "overpowered" cars, but even that the Audi S1 pikes peak starts first in this race, it's still very easy to win by a good margin, you can do wall-riding or just use 50-50 distribution front-rear & full downforce it's easy.

I could be tempted to turn difficulty level to hard for this race since I can't grasp that players on this forum have problems with easiest weekly challenge, as opposed to the hyper-difficult Monza race.
Lolololmao... the snow race i dread was easy peasy lemon squeezee, as I find the F1 race is the beast i need to slay. Various attempts only gets me P3 at best.

I’m not good or fast whatsoever and won the F1 race on my first attempt without any trouble on normal.

I suspect people having trouble are using a controller and not a wheel?

I imagine this event being really hard on a controller. I always found fast, high downforce and twitchy cars to be almost impossible to tame on a controller back when I was still using one.

It took me at least three attempts at th F1 race before I got a third place with medium tyres and a non stop run. That was on easy with a DS5. I got one million credits from the six star ticket. That made it worth it. I normally do the fifth race in the weekly cycle for a change of pace from my normal grind race, but not this time.
