Looking quite interesting.

I hope to run or join some races as school winds down in a few weeks.

Good luck!

Round#2 Fuji VCRC

Cote Dazur/cotedazur06/Jaguar XJ13 Race Car '66/525pp/1:56.675/EDT

In for the race at Fuji Monday May 28th at 20h00EDT, tentative for the 14h00 EDT.

So we can use the power limiter, any restriction on how much we can use it. My understanding it over abuse drastically alters the torque band (making it flat). There are a few interesting cars at higher PP, but it would require a lot of reduction to dring them down to 1:57s

Also, I tend to drastically improve my lap times after see good drivers, so I'm a little worried my 1:57 times for hot lapping might quickly drop once I see how Trackbound and JP take the turns. Do you guys meet up for practices or anything?

Menown, there is no restriction on how much you can lower the power of the engine.
We have not been doing practices online, but we could, if anyone is available, the lounge is available to all members to practice.
So far everyone has been racing online at the pace that had been set for the qualification laps.
Give it your best effort and everything is going to be fine.
Also if you see your are to fast for the pace once racing, you can always increase the handicap of your car to get back down to the pace for the next race. It is in every one interest to be at the same pace or you will end up way ahead racing with yourself instead of having the frantic battles we have enjoyed since the beginning of the serie.
This is a gentleman league, we are all in for fun and friendship.

I couldn't be happier with that answer. :)

Looks like my friend is also interested, I sent him a link to here.

Freaky, I don't think we have had a problem with drivers being under the time in the race with the exception of my race #3 this past Monday. I got the lead early and ran a couple of clean laps that put me around 1.56.1 and 1.56.3 (under the 56.5). The ironic part of that (and the thing I need to keep reminding myself) is that I was "slowing down" because I was in the lead and didn't want to make a mistake. Because of that I ran that slight bit faster than I did all night and in practice when I was pushing too hard. Some of that also was because it was the most time I spent in that car on that track (have not been practicing near what I use to due to time limitations). Again, the best part of this group is the fact we all want to race with each other. I have not noticed anyone trying to get an advantage over anyone else or to be sandbagging the TT. If you look at the results from the last couple of evenings of racing, we have had everyone in every position at some point. If someone really wanted to "cheat" the system to win all the time, I think they have found the wrong group...and what would that win mean anyhow?

The reason I left the ORCA series was due to never actually getting to race anyone. I got some good finishes, but that was due to simply not crashing and driving past people who had spun off. I never really got to go door to door with anyone. This series sounds perfect. Kudos goes to whoever dreamed this up.

Just while I'm thinking about it. Is ballast allowed?

Nope, ballast is not.

Under tuning prohibited you may only adjust the engine power through the limiter.

MCRC Eiger Entry

and
Nissan 350Z (Z33,EU) '03 / 467pp / 1:15.723 / EDT

I'll have to decide which car to use. Both are a blast on that track. Or could I mix it up in the races?
Funny that both came out to 467pp. I use automatic transmission so the limiter can make up for tall gears up to a point. No limiting on the Nissan though.

Please put me in for Mondays VCRC.

I would prefer if you only used one car for the Monday races. At the moment even though they are the same pp the one I would take as your submission would be the 350Z, as it is slightly faster.

Which one would you like to submit?

Looks like Eiger will have a huge range of cars to choose from based on Miata's results to date:idea:

No ballast Freaky, but you can change the brake balance which can be important with some of these car/tire/track combo's, especially at a place like Eiger with the tight switchbacks, although it's a little less squirrelly in the reverse version.

I'm in for monday, I just need to get a car sorted that I can run consistently in. Just finding a car is fun :)

This is what I will be doing my racing in from now on.

Nice! What was the donor car for the seat?

I was thinking of trying to find an American MPV "Captain's Seat" or something to start building for when I buy a wheel in the next few weeks. At least something with arm rests and a cup holder...

It came from a Renault Megane CC, I got it for £1 from ebay.

Nice set up Mike:tup:👍 Mine is similar to that except the frame of mine is aluminum with an adjustable plate for the pedals and the wheel. It came with crappy chair so I modified mine to take a captains chair from a minivan and it's incredibly comfortable now and I even have armrests!!! You're gonna love yours!!!

I've been working on a no ABS set up. I month or two back I bought a couple of sponge balls, one hard and one softer, and stuffed the soft one in behind the brake pedal to enhance the feel. I pulled that one out and put in the harder one and it begins to compress right away and requires quite a lot more force to get to 100% braking power. I'm getting quite consistent now so long as I don't panic and press the pedal to the floor as I'm so used to doing with ABS. Even ran a couple of cars on Eiger and it was pretty good.

Hi all, this looks fun, so I decided to take part. Wish I had gotten involved sooner, but oh well. Its not the lowest PP car, but it was an accomplishment for me...

Obviously, this is for the Vintage division Round 2:

Well Juju. As long as you have the same race for fun mindset as the rest of this group, you will fit right in and have one heck of a good time. See you Monday.

OF COURSE I have the race for fun mindset. Thats why I think this is such a great idea. Its sort of a built in handicap to get everyone at the same level. I was about 1.3 away from the target time with the Yellow Bird, which would have been even more PP, but let me tell you, that car is a wild stallion. I thought it would be fun to try to tame it, but maybe another time.

First of all, hi and welcome. It's great to see new people come in and have a go. This format is great with only a few people, but with more it only gets better.

I think you made a wise decision leaving the Yellow Bird in the garage, as a couple of us have chosen cars in the past and found them hard to drive consistently come race day.

I will be there this Monday for the VCRC version.

Did a little testing for the MCRC Eiger. Did a little bit offline with a handful of cars. Liked the 04 M3 (standard), and the premium NSX-R and 02 GTR. After giving them each a quick run online I think the M3 will be my car of choice. Found the NSX a little too tail happy when trying to use the throttle around the hair pins. The GTR seems to want to push sideways too much.
