Great to see people are actually participation. Perhaps I'll talk to a mod about getting a temporary sticky up in the photography forum with a link to the competition, so the photographers know about it.

Great idea, since it is after all both photography and a competition. I'm sure they'll do it. I normally PM duke, I find he has the fastest resonse times

What did you get?

Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 and a 256 meg memory stick. I saved $150 over the retail cost b/c of discounts where I work ... It still ran me $700 (after taxes) for the whole package though

I was about to get a 3.2 meg fuji but I didn't like the build quality or the interface... Plus it was about 25% larger than this one and the sony. For carrying in my pocket, it would have been too bulky.

oddly enough my camera has an advertised res of 3.2 MP but in the menu it has a setting for 6.0? How weird.

My dad just picked up a fisheye lens, too. That's lots of fun. Lucky for him, he doesn't keep any of this stuff at home.

I was ready to buy the Fuji S5100 because the price, features and 10x optical zoom - and the 4mp ccd. Hell, I would have saved myself like $150 on the fuji, but it was just too damn big for my purposes =(

A lot of Fuji cameras have something called a SuperCCD. The SuperCCD allows the camera to take in double the detail and it basically simulates a ccd of double the mp as the original. It's not a gimmick either - the image quality is just as good though I've heard it's slightly darker and a tiny bit on the fuzzy side

I use the 6 all the time, I have no problems with it. I wanted the fuji becasue I don't carry it in my pocket, plus I like the SLR look. I might buy something higher end later but this one works perfectly. The battery life is amazing too!
