Weekly Race Series, Week 18

[CFM]

Had a productive session with my longtime favorite, the Oreca Viper.

New clean save:
20.067 / 36.530

The whole lap turned out really smooth with no obvious flaws, just one of those sweet runs that glides along like butter!

This may be the time I turn in for the week as I'm not really too motivated to go on a car testing binge this week, kinda sick of testing cars period. It's not so much the testing but the endless tuning that's a pain.

I may try to better this lap with the Oreca as I haven't run against the ghost of it yet to find any weaknesses. I know slightly more is possible because I did run some T1's in the 19's once again and T2's in the low 36.4's. But in reality it would take all my skill and effort to get maybe another .150 or so off my total, might not be worth the time investment. Have a good drive everyone.

Man i hate this track why am i findind it hard to break into the 36's at T2 i can't understand it ,im matching most peeps T1 times but when i get to T2 im way off the pace ..I suppose it's my own fault i don't know this track very well ,and i honestly can't remember the last time i ever ran this track..Well can't be good at every thing i suppose..
Any help would be welcome..
I will try one last time then im giving up on this one ..My DS2's nearly met with a unfortunate end several times,but i've managed to contain it ,im not sure how much longer my nerves will hold out ...

Edit whoopie do i finally done it got a 36.7 but im still loosing speed somewhere that was from a T1 of 19.9 i will maybe try again later..

Hi All
This may be a little off topic,maybe not.
I am still using the dualshock 2 controller.I need to get a wheel to better my times,but with GT4 coming out, and the release of a new wheel to co-incide with GT4,should I wait for for the new wheel(8+ months,possibly 1 yr)or buy the l-gitech Blue wheel?
Then,#2:I would really like to be able to see Mr.P's CFM,or anyones clean runs.I need a Sharkport.Money is tight.Should I just get the Wheel now,wait for the new wheel,or get the Sharkport?
My T1 at the moment,21.3,T2 is killing me.I keep swinging wide,or spin when I hook the inside rumble strips.

Hello Cinjun8! Well in the end you are the only one to know if your times will improve with a wheel. I use the DS and think that my times would not improve noticeable with a wheel. I think the most important is just practice and more practice to get good laps.

I would go for the sharkport! I ordered myself one, since it just was an incident here that made me probably set the fastest time in my first comp here (brag brag ) (comp 14 - the replay is still only on my memcard..) When I make a good lap I want to be able to upload it. Also wiev others laps in a comp where I put much effort and finished behind..

And about the new wheel, It has 900 degrees between full left/right so it will give the game a new driving experience but probably it won't be good for really fast racing.

Personally if I were you I would go for the Sharkport as it will be more useful to you. Just remember that you will only be able to view the replays of people with the US (NTSC) version of the game. I have been dying to see some Mr.P and Mr. H replays but can't since they have the PAL version of the game. But anyway I think the Sharkport will be all around more useful since you can use it for more than just watching replays. If you look around the internet you will see that on some of the sites that contain lap records the ratio of wheel drivers to DS/2 drivers is about half and half. The wheel will definatly give you a small advantage with things like a bone stock Miata or a rally race, other than that you can keep up with a DS/2 almost all the time, just a matter of more practice. I was thinkng about getting a wheel but have decided to wait till GT4. Get yourself a Sharkport, by watching others and chasing their ghosts you can pick up little technics that can't always be described. And you always have proof of your work when you get a really great run put down. Just my opinion on the matter,CFM

Well since this is my first week in which I actually have time to race and compete well , sure why not

Currently , im stuck @ T1 : 21.5XX and T2 : 39.04X

I can get into the 20's and 38's .. just a matter of squeezing more laps out of myself.Im really enjoying this , and cant wait to submit and see where I come up

I signed up for Torc 10 and currently i'm running a warm up race before it starts in 3 weeks , my time will be limited for the next 8 weeks , i'll race what i can though i have a save for this week already .

the T's aint so good but the lap time I didnt think I could reach that low. I finally figured out how to take the last corner and the corner after tunnel 2, but the chicane before tunnel 2 had me stomped. I must say I am not feelin this track, but I do see room for Improvement.

BTW anybody has setups for the RX7 or tips for the track (PLEASE)

haha yes noojra i really hate this track now like so much i never want to set a tire on it after this but i need to bring my times down also with the viper but its so frustrating to drive here i finally got rid of the understeer problem so hope fully ill get some decent times now.

Did 19.824-36.729 and said "Oh fiddlesticks, just run it out". It was faster.

Then I knew there was another full second in there.

Hey flerb....if youve got any of the other cars that are on this list, i'd suggest using one of em. haha. I tested the panoz out when i first started tryin cars out, and i couldnt really any great times w/ it. But that could be just me. I drive better in some cars than i do others. but like i said, if youve got any other options available to you, i'd try em out

The only... Strike that, ONE of my problems is major understeer through the long righthander before the second tunnel... I'm looking at <130kmh to keep the car on the track. And an exit speed of around 165-170ish.. Not really a speed that'll keep me in the top 100

grr...i hate when i do this. Ive got a new best lap, but w/ split times of 20.0/36.5 Oh well, faster is faster, but it still shows theres room for improvement yet...the question is will i be able to? I think my car was starting to get GUBBED (hehe sorry pedro, had to steal your word ) from a lack of changing the oil, so maybe once ive got some HP back i'll be able to pull somthin off

Actually that's a lie, I did try the loctite on tuesday for a few laps and it's now known as the locshite, I used to like that car too.

Are you using a wheel or a DS2 ?... I can't put tcs to 0 on this one.. Much too sensitive even though I'm using stick

edit: We don't do the Maypole, but we do tend to have more than a few beers

I use the DS (sticks not buttons), tried tcs 1 first but without it I could go faster in the hairpin, set 2:nd gear to max = less spin. but you're right it takes careful throttle-control.. especially in the hairpin when you're turning..

I like this track. The only thing I dislike with the track is how this game calculates things. It may be right, but when you travel 10 mph faster and lose a fair amount of time, time wasted in braking and improper line or not, it's annoying.

the turns entering and exiting the 2nd tunnel, do you use wide/wide, close/close, wide/close, or close/wide? I use close/close.

Close to the right all the way around the crappy corner leading into the tunnel.. Sticking to the right (as much as my understeering POS will allow) through the tunnel. Hit the curbs on the left when entering. Almost all the way out to the rumble pads on the right and keep real tight to the left curbs when leaving the turn yards before T2....

I tried out the C5R for kicks and took a while going through a pretty detailed setup. So I ran some laps and was getting T's of 20.3/37.2 or so, but then I realized my C5R was worn out with about 1500 miles on it, so I cant say for sure how much potential it has yet. But then some how I re-loaded the game without saving the settings. I did manage to save a replay with the settings I want and I think there is a way to retrive the settings from the replay file, does anyone know how to do this? I was planning on posting them up because they were shaping up pretty good, thought it might help any of you having trouble with the C5R. If anyone can tell me how to get the setts off the replay file I would really appreciate it.

Run it through MK's program or Arwins replay manager both of these will open an x/sharkport save and show you settings 👍
