Cheers dude,

100 years? Damn I aint got much time then!

Still, jsut got a T2 of 43.6 in a supra (with a lovely slide round the last hair pin đź‘Ť ) and judging by other times here that's not too bad. Just gotta nail that last section down.
My problem corners are the first chicane and the righty at the crest of the rise just after T2...
Gotta find those braking points!
I've never been that hot on street circuits - apart from Rome perhaps - so, if anything, this OLR should help.
But I fear I may have no life at all left soon....Oh well.

AAARRRGGGHHH! This is officially the week of Teh Suck!. I am out as of right now for this week. I got an eye infection so I can't wear my contacts, nor can I find a single pair of glasses that I thought I owned anywhere in my house. Must have lost them somewhere along the past 2 years. So unless you want to race a blind man, I am out. :( I am going to the Eye Doctor today, hopefully I can get a replacement set of glasses before Friday. If that is the facy, I will be back in the game :D.

edit, and only 1 grammatic mistake from a blind man

that really sucks miata.....

For those that want to try it out I was pulling low low 43 second times in the denso supra.... still 2 seconds or so behind my best zonda time...... but if you wanna try it out..... heres the denso setup I was running...

DENSO SUPRA:
Spring Rate: 17.5 17.5
Ride Height: 46 50
Shock Bound: 7 5
Shock Rebound: 5 7
Camber: 3.0 1.0
Toe: -0.5 0.0
Stabilizer: 4 4
Brake Balance: 17 13
LSD: 10 50 11
Final Gear: 3.260
Auto Setting: 36
Downforce: 1.00 1.25
TCS: 4

I haven't spent much time tuning it... but that seemed to work well.

I've never really run the Zonda before and after seeing this thought I'd tune it up and have a go...
YIPES!!! Man but does this thing shift. Methinks this could be a contender - after my first tentative run I beat the best I'd done in the Supra (only by a coupla 10ths but I was really pushing it). I can can see how you're posting 41's.

Anyone want a secondhand Castrol Supra? ;) Cheap!

Yeah, the zonda is fast alright...

Pulled 43.7 in the vertigo.

Nothing good from the others, but idafc and a few others have got me craving some toyota action.

I also want to remind everyone that 38 weeks equals about 5/8 of a year... 52 weeks in a year.

But still, since I had really never raced like this before the weekly, I would say the 38 weeks of practice I've had managed to help a ton.

Good luck to all.
--------
edit:
I just ran the denso and it seems like even though I didn't run times as low as my vertigo, it will be able to do so with almost no work at all.

I'm guessing the extra 200 hp is what pushes the car so easily. This race just like last weeks may prove to show that the best car isn't always the one that looks best on paper.

Take the diablo for example, 1.1 pwr/ 1.2 twr and for some reason, it's still able to keep up with the major players of the week.

As of the moment, the denso sure it looking nice, but only with time will I know if it is the one to take the place of my vertigo.

I mean, it's gonna be one hell of a challenge to keep the vertigo on the same lap times as the rest of the cars in this weeks race, but hey, thats why Im looking at it as a possibility.

Screw the Zonda!

Let the zonda run at the front of the pack and let the rest of us run it out with all the others.

I mean, have you guys never seen a good race for second place? (good, neither have I and thats why Im going back to the zonda ;) )

No actually Im not, but I still dont think anything will match the zonda... I ran the zonda for a couple of minutes with no fine tuning and put down a 41 something. With times like that so easily obtained, it becomes obvious where the zonda stands.

However, I still wanna see some nice racing this week, and that raybrig time sure looks like a good one (sough) so keep with it.

edit:

Just ran the supra a bit more... within 2 laps had my time down to 43.7, so it's looking like the supra may actually be the contender this week. (besides the zonda)
However, if the racer in the zonda isn't on top of his/her game, it's gonna be toyota tail lights.

Well, unless it's added to the 'banned' list, I think I'll stick with the Zonda. Seems the way to go. And it's got a good 'grin' factor - I'm having a whale of a time wanging it round the hairpin!

Just wish I could balance the steering a bit more... I've never been too hot at setting up cars and keep swinging it between understeer and oversteer. Just have to keep at it I spose.

Still, it's what I wanted... something to challange me.
Although I am beginning to wonder what I've let myself in for.

Joy!

Hey, nothing wrong with that, the zonda is indeed a great car and by far the fastest of the availible cars for the week.

I guess my problem is that, as of late, I have had a thing about everyone getting in on the top dog car and using that one alone. It almost takes away the fun of having a free selection process for the race. Just like last week, I have no objections to anyone using any car with in the rules and I also suggest that everyone uses the best car for them, or for winning.

Me, I think I just might stick to the supra, but who knows, I just might end up wandering back to the vertigo.

Seems everyone is heading of to race the denso.... I want to drive the zonda but also the denso to compare with the other guys driving, would it be alright if i submit both and the denso counted as a ghost run?

Umm well after reading the whole 5 pages, I have just seen interesting stuff, well I have to go back at home to run some laps with the Speed 12, Zonda or RX LM...I can't remember any other racing cars I have that can make the work for this week(100+cars). And Tokyo, man I love that track, thanks boom! :D

Well I have been trying other cars and so far my top 3 times have been from 3 different cars..... the zonda, the raybrig, and the denso.... I think I am going to lay off the zonda for a while and start setting up the raybrig

i'll probably try running an NSX today. its about the only car i havent tested yet (aside from the zonda, but that one doesnt intrest me this week) The nsx definently is a great car, but i think the denso might have the edge

I'm thinking I'll stick with the Vertigo (even though the FTO and RX7 lm racers are looking pretty sweet at the moment). I dunno, if this were a GT2 comp, I'd have a definite sleeper for all of you; the Opel Tigra Ice Racecar. The thing handles like a dream and accelerates as quickly as an F1; i just hope they include it in GT4...

Edit: also thought I'd mention that the Zonda has less tha no appeal to me; I wish that they never included it in the game. Seriously; it's slow (can't really win many races with it), its handling is erratic, and it is nearly impossible to tune. Sorry if I offended, I just had to get that out of my system.

I would have to say the Zonda tuned and maxed is one of the most well balanced race cars in the game. This week should help to uphold that claim. Besides the cars listed as illeagal for this week, the zonda is hands down the fastest. Regardless of driver skill, the average gtp driver should be able to race faster in the zonda, than any other car availible in the comp.

However, there is also the side of things where some times you just feel like driving certain cars. I'm finding it important to try and fully use one car's potential. With that in mind, Im glad to see there will be a full race listing this week. We should end up with quite the variety when the results are in. I'm thinking we will see zonda, rx7, supra, vertigo, and nsx models through out all divsions of drivers. (or atleast thats what I would like to see.)

Your totally right. I have my fastest time in a zonda... for those that want to know I pulled a 41.752. But I am not going to submit it.... I am going with a car that I dont think anyone else will use, and I am gonna drive it to hell and back and see how she compares to the big dogs (excluding the Zonda)

In my opinion, I think the Zonda should be taken out of this race, it will add a lot more competition, you will have lots of even cars instead of 1 real fast car and lots of slower ones behind it.

If you take the Zonda out the next car to win will be the Denso so it doesn't really matter, i don't think there will be two cars that match evenly.

I got something up my sleeve, trust me, I didn't think it was fast until I drove it, it can hold its own against the denso.

Well I do think that an almost even race is possible when you compare a certain group of cars.

Raybrig, castrol, arta nsx's .vs. castrol, denso supra's, .vs. s2000 Lm, .vs. rx7 lm .vs. a dozen others including the alteeza, the vertigo, and the impreza.

So yes, there can be great competition with certain groups, but as competitors in the weekly, we can see those groups ourselves. For those of us that don't turn in zonda times, we know automatically that we are running with the rest of the people and the top class of car. In real life races they often do this, why not here... everyone participating knows how the cars stack up, so lets just race and have some fun. (btw, the zonda really is a riot to drive.)

i've been testing out a couple of cars for about 20 laps each...
zonda RC - constant low 42s
calsonic skyline - constant low 44s
altezza LM - constant low 45s
mitsu FTO LM - blegh i dont like the way it handles, understeered all over the place..
Denso supra - havent tried yet

so yes, thats all of the race cars i have in my garage..
all of them need some more tunings..
but all and all im gonna try and make the calsonic skyline to run 43s

That seems like a good goal to start with. (bandit)

Personally, Ive just come to realize that I have a test tomorrow and a research paper due in about a week. My time for this weeks comp is going to almost completely dry up after tonight. Hopefully I will get something done with the castrol. (yeah, I think I just might run the castrol for the sake of giving all the denso's a close competitor in a different car.)

Anyway, maybe later tonight when I get back from school I will have news, or with any luck, just before school... until then.

later

I'm staying with the Denso. I saw zer0h's time and it is very fast. To me the Zonda is in the same league as the R390 and the GT-One. Just a tick slower. The RX-7 LM should be pretty quick too. This would have been a much more interesting race without the Zonda in there. If anyone is using the Desperante, good luck. You'll need it.

Well, I tried the Zonda out a bit. After some tuning on my part, I ran a lap that was alot faster than my fastest dreams in the Vertigo *cries*. Man, I really have some tuning to do if I ever intend for this to be a close to what I think some of te faster drivers are getting. Who knows? maybe I'll be running T2s of 40.8 by the week's end (current fastest is 42.4)...

to me, there is no point in getting first place, when you think about it, all you get is a congratulations. I wanna bring in the underdog, and I want people to congratulate me for getting a street car to run with the big dogs.... and I will tell you now... its close to being done. :)

Zonda c12s or gt40, either fully tuned should put in some good times.

Speed 12 could also fit into the road car category I guess, so thats another, good luck with it.

Hmm the Speed 12 is a solid car, but too difficult to handle, but on the straightaway it blows every other car you want, if I can at least control a little bit that car on the turns, it's gonna be a pretty good time :)

I just finished a last second session before I go to school and sure enough, I saw some slight progress from the castrol supra.

Looks like the castrol's power rises like any other dealer bought car, so hopefully the hp will be at 970 soon. Right now it's at 951, so I guess it wouln't take too long.

I found something new (once again  ) It was tough to tame and still needs some work but I just pulled a clean 43.224 with it. I think it will hold its own against the supras that many people are moving towards.
