Glad you made it without pitting chimeleon, and welcome to the weekly series. It's nice to see new racers coming and going nearly every week. I think some of them get scared away after the first race though:(

Off topic, the final official results for the BC3 were posted, a few results were changed with a few DQ's and non-submissions, but we still came in seventh place overall. I know all of the racers for GTP worked on that race a long time and put alot of effort in, it was fun teaming with all of you, and extra thanks to lotus350 for leading the way.:D Link to BC3 results:

I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes what your best lap times are on this series. If you eat it all on the last lap because of your tires, you'll lose in the long run.

If you think about it you can run 1'48's for laps 2-4 and then if you're 3 seconds faster on the last lap because of the tires, you've made up for not running 1'47's.

I tried pitting in a few combinations last night... it is definitely out of the quesiton. There is no way to get 30 seconds back by driving 4 of the 5 laps faster.

I'm very bad at managing tire wear and haven't gotten the combo tires to work (t6 on front t7 on back). The back tires still get eaten up before I'm through.

I think we're gonna see numbers all of the place on this race. I certainly am on my finishing times (especially when pitting).

Thanks to u;)

But I think that in fact the final time will count, therefore it is necessary to save tires while turning into 1.47,9 without making stop with the stands,

because I believe that one loses a lot of time

So what is the target this week? Fastest lap? Fastest over all laps? And I take it u have to come first, right?
Sorry if it's a stupid question but I have only run a few races so far and not one like this, the others were 1 lap fastest lap times.

Anyway my fastest lap so far was lap 2 at 1:50.423.

The objective is to get the fastest total time for all 5 laps.

Had a few runs at this last night :) This is one of my favorite cars in the game :D apart from when its suffering from terminal understeer ;)

OK....running mid 1'48's for the two fast laps last lap is about a second slower than my first lap ;) on T6 tyres no stops.

Considering T6 fronts with T7 rears to see if it clears up my understeer problems on the last lap (back tyres more worn than the front??)

You may want to try to setup your brake balance something like 18/24 with the T6/T6 combo so that the rears take more of the punishment in hard braking. It helped me a bit, and I considering trying a 12/24 setup during my next session. The only drawback is if you are the type of driver who turns alot while braking the rear end will have a tendency to slide out more, but that can be reduced by changing spring settings or ride heights, etc. It may or may not be to your liking but may be worth a try.;)

The reason you guy's did so well in the BCv3 is right here with Boom's weekly series. Having everyone submit good clean runs and not getting DA's helps alot too. In BCv2 race 1, FPT was a no show that set the tone for that run. BCv3 was a much better comp this time around. Except for those freakish Rally races.

my first race. i think i'm gonna be placing last in my division. i don't care, it's fun though.

After running only about 5 races, i'm pretty much decided on the T6/T6 setup with no pits. My lap times are considerably slower than everyones, right now my second lap is 1'48.xxx. My first lap is about 1'56.xxx. I admit I'm being way too conservative with the tires, but playing this way gets me midway thru the last lap without my front left being bright red until coming out of the long right hander in the tunnel. this technique allows me to keep pretty consistent laps throughout the race.

These are some of my average splits, for the middle laps, as you can see not blazingly fast.
T1 19.386
T2 55.014
T3 1'14.457

i will fidget and experiment over the weekend. good luck y'all.

Thanks to cfman for settings and brake setup advice:tup: ran a first race on t6:s with a fastest lap of 1.48.3. Car is a bit to understeered for me though..

I try to avoid the grass as I think it wears a lot on the tires.. Is this right at all?

Best run so far:

1'55.0
1'47.6
1'48.7
1'49.9
?'??.?

I've been running a modification of Fumes settings from the tuner's vault (more downforce, tighter gears). Will try the CFM's tonight.

i finally got a full 5 laps in without pitting and man is it hard to keep from spinning out the last few turns. and apart from that i only dropped about 17 seconds of my pitting time

I gots no work this week, it's raining and I'm bored.

So, I ran 300 miles and got 3 clean saves. HAHAHAHA!
I was wasting my time trying to conserve the tires and eventually started driving it like a bunch of hot laps.
Going slow in the first 4 laps to conserve the tires, just means I'm going to have a slow total. The car is going to be slower on L5 no matter.
If I push the car the entire race, I save 3½-4sec. and L5 is within 1sec.
I just have to realize the braking points have moved much farther out. I lost .6sec on L5 because I forgot this.
If you have to pit, you're toast, restart.

Best save:w/T6 & 513HP
1:53__PB-1:52.455
1:46__PB-1:45.674
1:47__PB-1:46.998
1:48__PB-1:48.403

There's 2sec. left in it.
But, it's like Whack-A-Mole.

It's such a pain to record and review these long races.

GTJugend: The grass does accelerate the tire wear, as does the sand and any body contact.

Anyway, you all have a bunch of fun and good races.

:) :) :) :)

Well I have improved my best time about 7 secs less..here are the lap times:
Lap 1:1'54.864
Lap 2:1'47.605
Lap 3:1'48.507
Lap 4:1'50.513
Lap 5:?'??'???

It gets hard to drive the last lap, but it's way better than pitting, as some other racer in this thread said..if you have the need to pit, there's no need to continue, restart ;)

Out of curiosity, and for comparison, is it possible to show who is using what to drive GT? ie Joypad or Wheel.
It'll be interesting to see if there's any major difference between joypad and wheel users.
I'm a pad user myself.

Boom, maybe have a J or W next to people's names in the list...
what do you think?

Hmm. Pretty good idea.. But I believe GoldJunkies have J or W listed next to the records.. And as far as I recall, there's as many J's as W's so I hardly think it makes that big a difference...

For the record, I'm on J until the 900 degree Logitech Wee arrives :D

I use the dual-shock, with the sticks for both steering and gas/brake.

Tried the CFM settings, and couldn't do much with them. I think I was already too used to my previous setup. I kept running off on the inside of the turns, so they might do better if I only had time to adjust. But between a few days out of town, and a 24 hr power outage it's another short week. Might get one more crack at it Monday night. Thanks for posting 'em anyway CFM.

*mumble, grumble*

I'm out... Just not all into it this week. Wouldn't mind another five lapper with AI, but fast times and tire wear for me just don't mix very well. The lowest lap time I managed was a 1'47.0xx. I may give it a few more shots, but I'm going to take some advice from AO and give a few of the Polyphny Digital Cup races a try.

why dont you just post youre time anyway and see how what YOU think is a bad time stacks up against everyone elses. I only had time for one race this week(well 2 actually but i banged a wall just a bit too hard on the last lap:banghead: )and i still handed in my time. Its going to be a shocker, i think my best lap was like 1'51.XXX or something:lol:. I think it just doesnt seem right when u have a go at a race but you give up because you think its not 1st place material. Its like schumacher pulling out of a race on the last few laps because he's not 1st.

I'm not really looking for first, but I am looking to be in the top rankings in my division. The thing is, I'd rather not have something that wasn't what I was really trying for represent me. You know the saying, "Do your best in whatever you do."? It's sort of like that. In a lot of races I may not be putting in as much time as I could, but I race it a lot and do my best. It's just not happening in this one.

After the 2000cc race, I felt like a lot of my other attempts just weren't good enough. I put in a good few hours to get the time I submited, and even though I placed 2nd, I was totally happy with the time I put in. However, it's sort of making me feel that I'm not doing my best in any of the races.

I sort of gave up on the Polyphony race and I bet I'll be in the Clio a little tomorrow and see what happens.

hippyneil: I'm using the controller that came with the console.
I steer with the D-pad and throttle/brake is analog stick.

I ran another session and knocked off 1½sec., all of it on the last lap.
But, I made a mistake on L3 and bumped the exit from the chicane.
It caused a 9MPH drop, so it's within the limits, but it slowed one of the most important exits on the circuit. I probably lost ½sec. on that one.
I can see another 1½sec. in there.
I may have another couple of goes at it later today and Mon.

Bedtime for me.

You submit your total overall time to Boombexus via PM, do not disclose your total in public. You can post your split times and lap times for laps 1-4 here if you want to compare how you are doing with evreyone else's times.

P.S. My new best save has a fastest lap of 1:45.4:D I probably won't work on this any more because I have to finish up my TORC race and Bob's Diablo challenge:cool:

I think I've got my time for this now...haven't got close to it for a while.... quickest 2 laps low 1'46, low 1'47 but my last lap is only a couple of hundreth's slower than my first

Man I cannot hang this week! I had no idea how much I relied on the ghost car to improve my times. Oliver is kicking my a*s all over the place. I'm going to put some more time into it, but I don't expect good results.

i hate the ghost car. It always blocks my view and i miss braking points. I dont know how to turn it off either. Also......how do you use you analog for accel and brake?i use it for steering but i cant find how to change that. i'll go have a quick search
