Yeah, I know how you feel - I don't really have the spare time (or the driving consistency) to test and compare cars...

I've only used 3 cars - about 10 laps each in a Evo VII Proto and Impreza Proto rally car, and about 5 laps in a Ruf CTR.

I don't think you were referring to my times, but just in case, they were set with a (brand new) Impreza Rally Prototype (PWR = 2.53x).

Dragon,

Thanks, that's what I'm using at the moment too. My best T3 right now is 50.1 with that car, though my best overall time was set with a 50.5.

I don't think there is any way to get the subaru down to 49.5. Eggman was talking about how he had to deal with breakin hp, which means he's not using the subaru rally prototype.

There is another car out there, but I'm guessing it's not any of the following:

I doubt Alfa Romeo

I still haven't tried Audi

There are probably some mitsu evo's I should check out still just in case, even though I have tried several.

I doubt anything in the nissan family because I've tried the best skyline that I have that can be equipped and it wasn't close.

I doubt subaru because I'm using the prototype and have tried the wrx rally and the high end wrx. Everything else seems like it wouldn't compete.

Toyota is lacking in 4wd. I should look at toms chaser for kicks.

I doubt the opel.

I should take the VW's for a spin.
--------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think any of these prospects are very good which leaves me with three possible choices. Either I've run it and discounted it too early, I've incorrectly assumed that it wouldn't perform, or it's not on the list.

Any of those choices is enough to get me to stick with my current suboptimal car. Hopefully one of these last few cars that I'm going to check out will do it for me.

@danofff...

You're searching the wrong half of the available cars. The one I'm driving is on your list of "I'm guessing it's not..." ;)

eggman, thanks about those tips!👍 Those really helped me. I made my record time with T3: 50.4. The last two corners are hard. Those two are my weakest spot. I always drive them wide or something..

I give up on this one. I can't seem to find a car that gets around here quickly. T times are pathetic - cant get under 16 T1, T2 is always around 34... this so sucks!!
Maybe it's me, I dont really play the rally tracks much but even so, I cant seem to get a decent line/ setup/ car - I dunno what it is. Bleh! :banghead:  :banghead:

The only cars I would have moved from danoff's "guessing it's not" list to the "maybe" list are:

Xsara Raly
Escort Rally and Focus Rally
Delta Integrale
Corolla and Celica Rally
VW Beetle RSi
second choices would have been the Astra and Calibra DTM cars

Is it one of these? ;)

Well I put them in the "I'm guessing it's not" list because I tried them and they didn't hang with the Subaru, but I'll have to go back and check them.

Edit:

Scuderia,

What's your fastest T3 in the celica. I haven't been able to manage much but I'm probably just tuning it badly.

ugggh.

Same car , same "best lap settings" and I can't even get within 1.9secs of my best time thus far.

I think I am done for this one. Gotta start getting ready for next week.

God I hope week 50 ISN'T a rally!!!!!

Well it is definitely not

Acura, Citroen, Dodge, Daihatsu, Fiat, Honda, Mazda, Mini, Peugeot, Subaru, Susuki, or Tickford. Which leaves:

Ford
Mustang Cobra R (tried it, not good enough)
Escort WRC (unfortunate upgrade spacing, no good)
Focus WRC (tried, not good enough)

Lancia
Delta HF Integrale Rally Car (tried, not good enough)

Lotus
Elise 190
Motorsport Elise (tried, no good)

Mitsubishi
FTO GPversionR (tried, not enough hp)
FTO LM (too much hp)
Lancer Evo6 GSR TME (+stripe) (tried, no good)
Lancer Evo7 RC Prototype (tried, no good)

Nissan
Nismo Skyline R34 R-tune (tried, no good)

Renault
Clio V6
Clio Race Car (tried, no good)

Ruf
CTR2 (tried, not too bad)
RGT (tried, no good)

Toyota
Celica GT-Four (tried it, couldn't make it fast enough)
Celica Rally Car (tried it, too slow)
Corolla Rally Car (too slow)

Vauxhall/Opel
Astra Touring Car (too much hp)
Calibra Touring Car (too much hp)

VW
Beetle 2.0 (wtf)
Beetle RSi (tried, too slow)

I just realized I really haven’t given lotus a chance. Other than that, the CTR2 performs well but I don’t know what the trick is to getting it to lap fast.

Edit: If it's the lotus, I don't care. I'm not driving that one on the dirt, it's too crazy.

Hi .... me again:)

I managed to squeeze a few laps in a few cars after all:P

The first car was the RUF :embarrassed: it was like guiding a portaloo on wheels around the Alps :embarrassed: ... sorry not for me ... best T3 in the Ruf was 49.8 but crappy on the end section

So in the end I just got out the trusty old Delta ;)

Easy car to drive and set up and i'm happy with my lap for such little time 👍

Best save in Delta has 15.3 /31.9 /49.6

I run the Delta on the NTSC gamesave as the majority of racers in here are NTSC anyway :)

Time submitted.

Alright, I am absolutely sure my times could improve being that this is my first ever rally olr. But hey, there's a first for everything.

In honor of truely not being a punk ass, I am turning in a time, even though I know it is not competitive. I hope that hits home for anyone who dodges out on the weeks where they can't keep up. :mischievous:

I think the splits were close to average around here.
None the less, time submitted.
Cya next week.

👍 👍

Never was able to get back to this after my session Wednesday, so I'll have to go with that (15.796 33.221 51.677). Using the Imprezza Rally Prototype.

Time sent.

VE HAS VAYS OF MAKING YOU TALK :irked: ... spill ze beanz ...? your car now Her Mich!! :D

Nice sector man ;) i think your already killin my time btw :P

ve shall see:tup:

It still feels to me like the impreza prototype is the fastest car out there. I managed a 49.7 T3 in it. Mr. P, I think you should give that one a spin and see what you can do.

Judging from mich's times, his car is faster though.

Yeah, what is it? I want to know too ;)

P.S. Mr P, I can't help thinking of "'Allo, 'Allo" after that post - are you sure you aren't a cast member moonlighting on GTPlanet??

The Delta is faster than the Imprezza Proto. It won the ARC Swiss Alps race. Its all about the set-up.

Racing line strongly disagrees. Of course, It also says that my final time is totally feaking pathetic!

Edit: Never mind, I'm a moron. I just realized there is a larger turbo out there for the impreza, which would be what they're using on racing line.

Boom,
Please disregard my submitted time.
I will submit again if it's alright. I managed to pull .3 off just now, and I believe that with some work, another .3 can come off.

I will be back tomorrow (monday) with updates, and hopefully a better time to submit.
Thanks for you patience,
-

I think I've had a slight improvement on my last time (submitted)

15.928, 33.135, 51.353

Looks like I'm going to be contending closely with NielsG this week, but if I can get a better time this evening (before Midnight) I will submit it and hopefully win...

Not a fan of rally at all but I will give this a shot tonight - I just thought to myself that its important to compete to kep the numbers up. I will give it a good shot though !!

Bottom of Div 2 I think this week

Road race next week PLEEEAASE !!!

I had all but given up on improving my time yesterday but watching the opening round of the WRC last night inspired me. So at 11:30pm I spent another hour tweaking car settings and trying a new line around a few corners (using things I learned from watching the WRC). I ended up bettering my time very slightly (-.120 to -.213) but watching the replay of those laps I noticed the tail of my car just slightly brushed the berm on the outside of the last right hander in T1, TWICE! Now it was VERY hard to see but in the interest in fairness I threw the laps away. I ended up not bettering my tme but over 25 laps all of my times were ALOT closer (all within .5secs) to my best time than they were earlier in the day.

If only I had more time, hahahah.

I learned a ton from this race in car setup AND driving technique, especially for rally driving. My time is fairly slow, compared to what I know is in the car, but what are you going to do.

Ok looks like you can disregard my time too Boom ! as i had a few laps in the Suby just out of curiosity :D

Initially i was hitting T3's in the high 47's  .... until I saw it was under the 2.5pw, so I dropped it to a stage 2 turbo and its over 2.5 now

best T3 in suby Proto so far 49.1:tup:

Last attempts tonight :mischievous: ..... when this room is childless:D

laters

BTW my Momo has a fault with gearing so its all DS2:irked:

Good lord. Granted T3 was the biggest time suck in my times but I couldn't get under 50.1 in T3, even WHEN I felt I hit the proper line and did everything right, my official time is even higher I think.

The god damn left hander right over the bridge is my problem. Thank god the road helps you out there with it's slight banking but the slick surface always caused me to brake to much and taking it in 3rd of 4th didn't help...the other issue was once you get that turn tight you have to have the car setup for the next one which if your nose isn't pointed the right direction you scrub more speed!

I'll be curious to know your race line strategy tomorrow when the results are announced.

Nice p, real nice.

Good luck later tonight.

As for me, I don't have school until tonight, so Im gonna get in a few laps before the day is up.
Once again, sorry about spaming up your box boom. Right now I have already sent you a total of 1 pm, but I already beat that time, so tonight plan on getting another. My bad.
