Hopefully I'll have fingers and hands left after all my trying haha :guilty:

But good going guys, it just shows what a good job the organizers (Boombexus, Kent and CFM) have done to make this series what it is ! Can't believe the amount of racers here. Only makes it much more difficult to actually reach a podium, but when you do, you can say you're a darn good virtual reality driver :)

Thank-you all for your comments. I know that we all look up to you Div 2'ers and 1'ers, and yes we may beat ya out in a race or two, and we hope one day that we can progress up the chart but it does mean alot too just the comments you give us, all the help we get in the races, and information. Lkie Nat said to me, she was using me as a benchmark, and I was using her. So we were chasing each other. :P So that is where our little rivalry came from.

With that said, Div 3'ers ~ Nat and I have been talking. Look for something soon for Div 3 racers to maybe spark up things in our divison. That is all you will get out of me for now. :sly:

WSSSUP!!!!

I cant really say much to what has already been said... The amount of people racing in this series is amazing, and lets hope the numbers stay.

Seems there are alot more Aussie's racing now, ROCK ON!!!!!

Anyway, Im Adam.. Div 2, but honestly i dont think it matters what division you are in as im here to improve on my own times and this can only be done with the help of everyone racing around me.

👍

Hi there Natalia - pretty name :) and hi all other Div 3 drivers :)
My driv games advanture started on Atari 65XE with - Racing USA or sth (I dont remember the title...) On GT im from the very beginning (take a look at my sig ;) ) but WRS is my first time with OLR. Its a great thing to have a competition with and meet ppl from all over the world - especially girls :) its very motivating to drive at your side :)

Terediel I envy you your current location :) I would love to be in Japan right now....
In my country its very, very dificult to go to Japan but some day I will arrive there :)

Anyway good luck to every one - lets have some real good competition in here and lets kick some div 1 a**** ;-)

PS. My real life character has nothing to do with my nick - I just used to it in last 10 years :/ (excess of youth...)

Hi everyone! *waves*

Well this is nice, our own little hideaway. I see a couple of you have been talking about me *blush*. Don't worry I won't be so fast from next month - I'm getting a DFP and Playseat for my birthday so I'll probably be the rubbishest (is that a word?) out of everyone since I don't drive IRL. Ooo, it's going to be FUN! :ill:

Can't wait to start the next race, we're racing Evos, baby! FUN FUN FUN! I love Mitsubishi Evos, they're so... FUN! Shame it's not on the 'Ring though, that would be...er... FUNNER!!! :dunce: *dies*

P.S. Obviously if I'm rubbish at the DFP, I'll revert back to the DS2 specifically for the WRS! MWAHAHAHA!!!!

"Outstanding" idea Natalya! 👍

I've been with the WRS since the very first Race & a gathering place lke this may have kept so may Racers from "Wandering Off!" It's VERY Encouraging to see so many new participants!

Don't fret about your Division placement...I started off at the bottom of Division II & eventually was able to take First Overall twice. All it got me was a promotion to Division I and the end of my overall victories!

Have FUN & enjoy the Comraderie...that's what this series is REALLY about!

A Hearty Welcome to you ALL! ...O.G. :D

Hi, I'm Mark and I'm a GT4-aholic. No wait, that's the wrong meeting.

I got a PS2 and GT3 several years ago just because I saw (and tried) GT3 in a store. I've been a race fan for many, many years and have always enjoyed racing video games.

I even used to think I was pretty good. But now, humbling is a word I started using last week after comparing my times with the rest of the crowd. What's even worse is not only do I have to watch all the Div 1 and 2 people eek out several seconds per lap that I don't really think is possible, but my 14 year old son (his login is "I Don't Know") has beat me for the first two races, and I have no doubt he will continue to do so.

So hello to all you fellow Div 3 folks. I suspect I'll be in this bunch for a long time to come.

I finished with a 1'15.3 for week 2, and I put together my "best" sectors from several ghost saves and discovered that had I actually mananged to put them together on the track I would have had a 1'14.7. Too bad I was never able to do that!

Grrrrr, on to next week.

Yeah, I had situations like that, too ... soooooo frustrating to run an awesome sector, only to blow it later, or to start off weak and then tear through the remainder of the lap. I never quite ran a T1 as awesome as the top guys, but invariably if I ran a strong T2 and T3, it was always on the back of a super poor T1.

Lordy, once I swear I glanced up to see a 37.xxx T2, but got so stressed and panicy that I immediately spun off on the chicane.

Mad? If the DFP hadn't been bolted to the coffee table, I swear I would have thrown it off the balcony.

Oh and @MArk, I'm sorry man, but I targetted both you and your son this week ...I wanted to beat you, because last week you beat me, so I figured that you'd both be a good benchmark and something to strive for. :sly:

How old is your son? He's a nippy one!

I had to go back and check this week's results ... and found out you beat both of us. So a new challenge for the week! :nervous:

I developed a cold late Saturday night, so throughout Sunday and Monday I'd keep trying for good laps and had trouble staying on the track. My submitted time was from last Wednesday - I never improved over that.

My son's 14 and he seems to take somewhat naturally to video game driving. We use a DFP, and he does a good job with it even though he's not yet driving (although he has been out racing karts a bit). He has a very different driving style than do I, I'm not sure how well he'd do if ever a WRS race is held with TCS being OFF is mandated.

So my challenge for the week is to beat I Don't Know and Kolyana. Maybe in a couple weeks my challenge will be to beat Villeneuve81!

So a question for my fellow Div 3 folks. When you get to a point where you think you're driving as good a lap as you're capable of, but it's still way off the Div 1 and 2 times, what do you do? I try to stop and analyze the lines I'm using, figure out if I can push my braking points later, think about car setup, etc. I usually end up scratching my head trying to figure out how the heck they're doing it.

Typically, i pick a few people racing faster than me and then someone like Villeneuve81 ... I won't match him, but it gives me something to chase.

I'm always way off the pace by quite a bit, but after a couple of days the car and track start to sink in and after 4 days I should have something half decent (for the division). At this point I have a gut instinct as to whether I'll go any faster or not ... like in week 2 I felt that I might have pushed a little more out, but it would have taken too long and been too stressful and - high on what I did score - I settled for that.

But in Week 1 I just could not really figure out where I was going wrong ... there were corners to be taken slower in order to hit following ones faster, and that's the sort of thing that I don't instinctively know.

Once - in the Mini-cup challenge - I actually did some track research, printed off an aerial view and watched my B-spec in order to pick up some hits and tips, but by then I'm going faster than him so I'm just watching for some obvious cornering clues. But this sort of 'research' is rare.

In week 1 I could not figure out where to gain time, so I submitted what I had and walked away with my head low and can only hope to gain by then watching some replays or something.

As a rule of thumb, I don't chase Div 2 times ... I have enough on my plate trying to keep up with our own div3 leaders :P

Ooooooh, chase me! Chase me! *runs around batting his eyelashes*

But...er, anyway.. yeah, I'm mental, me. I'm always chasing Div. 1 times, even though it's not really my place to.

"Practice, practice, practice" as..um, someone once said. Oh and when you said a couple of times you came away from doing a lap with your hands shaking and heart beating out of your chest, I get that too - it can be pretty scary when you've done a fantastic middle sector and you hope and pray you don't mess it up, which makes you nervous and jittery and tense and then you DO mess it up.

By the way, even though I haven't verified my laptime yet, would it be ethically correct to update my WRS status in my signature with my win?

ahahahahahahahhahaa

After that? DAMN RIGHT I WILL!

Villeneuve81

If you want to have a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugeeeee head about it, of course you can.

Show off :P

Hmm, sounds like somebody (cough villeneuve81 cough) needs to be knocked off the post! It won't be me, but I'll sic my son (I Don't Know) after your time for this week.

I think I'll wait a day or two for my cold to go away before I even attempt this week's lap.

Lol, no, not me. Honestly.

I'm just very proud and excited that I've achieved something like this (I've never done this sort of thing before) and I have a habit of organising and displaying details of what I've done in chat profiles or signatures, I think it comes from doing websites and things like that.

I nearly pooed myself when I saw I came 2nd last week and I know that while I'm improving, everyone else is. It would be stupid, arrogant and downright insulting of me to think that only after 1 win, I'm the dog's dangly bits. Not me. I'm just excited I guess. :)

I think I'll wait until the replay is verified anyway, I don't want to look like a complete w**ker. ;)

P.S. Oh, and the "Chase Me" thing was me being daft, rather than me being an arrogant twit. :embarrassed:

As in the avatar, the name's Jetboy. I recieved GT the year it came out, ('97?) and was hooked ever since... GT2 was my favorite; I had 800 cars! Anyway, that's dust on the floor now.

Love this OL Racing... Is it really true? Almost 80 in Div 3 alone? I believe my only podium will stay my only podium at this rate! Good to see those of which in the oposing sex have a go at this!

 Jetboy

Hey Kolyana,

I like your idea about this thread so much, I had to make one of my own for Div 2. But it seems that Div 3 drivers are alot more talkative than Div 2 drivers. Or they just think I'm an idiot. :dunce:

You know, when you share the gutter of the race track, when you are the lowest of the low and spend your time running through the dirty oil left by the higher divisions, it bonds you man, yknow ... IT BONDS YOU!

I'm sure your Div 2 drivers will warm up ... they're obviously just a shy bunch (or maybe on completely different timezones :P).

Mmmm...Cookies...

*runs out and gets cookies for all, only to find an empty wallet*

Doh!

Guess I didn't think of the time zones. 💡

TheChemist
Bake cookies, that'll get them talking.

Could I possibly interest anyone in a muffin?*

* Div 3 only.

I got carried away a couple of Saturdays back .. should have been racing and concentrating on Race#1 instead, maybe I would have placed higher :P

Maybe the div 2 people are frustratingly (is that a word?) trying to beat holl and hot604boi's times...

Hey, you 'guys' have been busy while i've been sleeping!
Time diferences etc,etc lol

got started on the 1000 miler in the european hall before i realised that i wouldnt be able to get out without completing it, so not put any time into the wk3 race yet. My 'b'-spec driver's doin 99 round monaco at mo, 3x speed of course, so should be able to start putting some rubber down around autumn ring in a couple of hours of so!

not my fav track/car combo, but will try to give everyone a run for their money.

speak later bud's 👍

ps any of those muffins left?

Hey Natalya,

Good to represent us Div 3 racers, I missed the 1st race, but did the 2nd round and u were quite a few positions ahead of me. Reading all the messages that have been posted, ive found out just how cool and friendly people are around here. Its good to be able to mix with you guys (and gals :sly: ) peace.

Yeah, and it's kinda the whole point behind this thread ... I have a huge sense of camaraderie (sp?) and wanted to acknowledge that. More importantly, with so many people in Div 3 I think that there will be a high turn over and possibly some people will get bored, or intimidated ... only 20 people each week can score and (odds on) at least 10 of those slots are going to go to the same drivers all of the time, so I wanted to ensure that there's more than 'just racing and point grabbing' here.
