I always race until I achieve a time I'm happy with, and then send it in. I do look at the thread for tips and to see if my time is any good, but never really to beat any of my fellow Division 3 drivers. That's why I was surprised to win the first race, thought I was going to be mid-table. :)

Ahh but Nat and I have something to also make things spicer...... 💡

Soon young grasshopper .. soon .. and you shall see. :sly:

Hello Kolyana.

I don't know why I'm a division 3 racer but I don't care much.

I'm a good racer in the Gran Turismo series, but it's hard to gauge yourself when there is no one else on the track, I do a lot better that way, I change my racing technique and style while seeing others and how I should adjust.

If I go to Time Trial I really don't push myself as hard as I would with real competition on the track and a real prize at stake..

Hello everyone. Started racing a bit with GT3 but when my son and I got GT4 I was hooked.
Looking forward to WRS in division 3 it's going to be fun.

Hey LargeFryz, it's good to see another father/son racing duo. Does your son beat you every week like mine does?

I'm looking forward to our competition this week, because I don't think this car/combo favors my son's driving style. Maybe I have a chance to put up a better time than he does at least once!

I got my neighbor interested in WRS last night. I suspect he won't be a constant driver, but he might check in every now and then. At a minimum, it expands the neighborhood pool (maybe I can beat him! :dopey: )

Boy Nat, we gonna be busy ~
new count is 76 Div 3'ers

I think if it gets any bigger, which I'm sure it will sometime very soon, someone should start considering opening up a Division 4...considering that in this last WRS event, the time difference between the fastest time & the slowest times in each division was:

Div 1: 1.4 seconds
Div 2: 4.4 seconds
Div 3: 6 seconds

I think if the times were more evenly spaced, it would make this an even more challenging divsion and the suspense as to how well one has done would be cause for a lot more nail biting!

But, then again, this is just my humble opinion! :)

Some may know me still from the latest GT3 WRS weeks. Back then I had more time to race because I was about to loose my job and had every week a few days of.

I am married, two children (boy nearly 2, girl just 5). 38 years of age and feeling younger as I am getting older!?

I have a new job now (quality control of medical -PTCA-devices for heart surgery) and I do not have as much time to race as I would want to...

25% into GT4 with DFP, but I also have to find time for my other passion: rockclimbing!

Thank you so much to put El-Capitan in for me!! Rock-climbing heaven and one of the most enjoyable circuits into one .

I think this is a fair comment, but the old hands seem to think that there will be quite a bit of drop-off, and they are the ones with all the experience. I'm sure that if we ended up with 40-60 drivers racing regularly, that they'd do something about it, but in the past they've had so many drops outs that one guys raced against NO ONE one week :P

We're definately going to keep the divisions as 1-2-3, no need for a 4th. Remember that people will be promoted also. That large gaps right now are from people being new and never really trying to get the abosolute fastest lap possible...the AI in the GT series is not very challenging to say the least.:yuck: Once people run a few weeks and people get used to trimming thier times down a bit, the gaps should tighten up.👍

Nice to see you back k2racer. Hope to race against you again soon but either you have to be promoted to div 2 or I have to be demoted down to div 3 for a direct competition ;)

Having a 4th division could seem a good idea, but I fully support CFM (OK, he's the boss so whether I support him or not doesn't matter at all, but I support this anyway :P ). People will get used to the weekly format and WRS rules, regularly fast/slow drivers will be moved up/down a division, and in the end things will settle down. Just be patient.

hey I was in the gt3 wrs but my ps2 blew up, but I got a new one and gt4 and now Im in. Im not that good but I dont need to be, I just play for fun. I look forward to racing against you all. Have fun

He sure does but the gap is getting narrower. :)

@Large_fryz

hope you didn't mind the pm's yesterday?

Just didn't want good times to be wasted if you hadn't done the qual's!

It's nice to have more mature driver's for company, am 37 myself and foster kid's tease me for playing games so much! lol

Good that you and s_f race against each other, pity he's quicker! lol
Bloody youthful reactions and h/e co-ordination!(makes him quicker than both of us!!!)

Hi Neil, yes when i too joined the WRS I wasn't sure of quite what i was getting into. Thought i would be racing against mostly much younger, faster guys, with too many body piercings and too much hair product. (tongue firmly in cheek) :P Well it turned out I was right (possibly not about the piercings or the hair product) they are younger, faster and from what i have read of thier comments most are plenty mature too. Ive always believed maturity is a state of mind, and not so much age. As it turns out we have a huge cross section of society here, (even a few females of the opposite sex, woohoo  ) be that age, location or beliefs. (OMG really starting to dribble now) :boggled: . The world would be a better place if it were more like the WRS !

Mmmm well what i meant to say is , Hi Neil , I'm rapidly approacing my 48th birthday,so you arn't alone my friend, my reflexes arnt what they used to be (neither is my waist measurement) but that wont stop me from trying to go as fast as i can, when i can. See you on the Scoreboard, I'm sure .

Guess I didn't think about that and the comment from Kolyana about possible drop-outs! Valid points to say the least!
Thanks 👍

Hey Ray, how's it hangin?

how you getting on with this weeks combo? I suck at it at the moment! lol
Can do reasonable T1's but it all goes tit's up in the second sector! Just can't get into the rythmn!
Ho-Hum, spose i'd better get some more practice in!

Neil

I finally got a chance to sit down and do some laps with this track. I'm glad we're in time trial with no tire wear, because I can't imagine the tires would last very long with all the tire squealing as I drive around the track.

I had the unusual experience last night of doing 4 or 5 laps in a row with my T1 and T2 times getting worse each lap but my time at the s/f line getting better each lap!

The end result is that while my current T1 and T2 times are not much better than the ones one this week's unofficial leaderboard, my time at the s/f line is about 5 seconds better than the time from my first submitted lap. And it's a clean lap to boot! Boy, is it tempting (and very easy) to short cut some of the corners.

I'm curious what speed you folks are usually hitting at the s/f line, and what speed you're going down to in the first corner. I'm usually about 114 mph at the line, and I'm having trouble getting my minimum speed above 40 mph through the first corner.

I know I've still got time to lose so I'll hit it more this weekend.

Haven't really been lookign at my speeds too closely; I tend to drive by 'feel' until I'm at a stage where I can start glancing at the speedo.

I'm the opposite of you ... I'm running better T times, but NOT improving my overall time .. which is actually somewhat frustrating! I tore around T3 once in such a manner that when I shot around a corner I was "whoah, how the heck did I do that?" ... and I've been trying to figure it out ever since :P

So far so good I must say...though it's taken about 40+ laps to get there!! :)
The only real problem I have w/this setup is that long swooping, uphill left-hander towards the end...I just can't seem to keep my speed up w/out losing so much traction...

My best T1 so far is somewhere between a 25.9 & a 26.3...it's been about a day since I last rode some laps and so I can't quite remember...

Will get back on the PS2 sometime over the weekend and confirm.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can do better this week then last week!...but only time & good fortune will tell! lol!

Peace-

New to WRS completely. I was just 46 thousandths off of D2.. if I would have waited another 15mins or so, I would have been in D2. Oh well, I am in a proper place. After all, I am not even gonna speak my T-Timnes.... I am embarassed of Small_Fryz's old man. He's faster than I!

4am is a bad time to be making intros, but what the heck.

Steve - though you can call me Nigel, a long time racing addict from the days of the venerable Sega Saturn and the rather sad first gen port of Daytona, and hours and months and years of Sega Rally Championship, and from there to other games too numerous to mention to Gran Turismo. Especially GT4. It was such a quality game that I plunked down the $140 some odd for the DP Pro, and went mad trying to get it set up, as it wouldn't fit on the old DP lap adaptor. But bolted onto a shelf board set up on an unused keyboard stand, it looks very... well, interesting, but feels fantastic.

I chafe at the thought of fussing with the parameters in arcade mode, preferring the stock cars - and isn't pulling off something with the car as it is a part of the accomplishment? But I suppose when the next race comes I'll do the parameter fudging and see how I stack up with the others who are probly doing the same thing. Unless the rules change and they insist on leaving the cars as they are and then I'll be a happy camper. As it is, my laps don't even appear on the boards. Oh well, looking forward to sharing in the thrill of the drive with the others in Div 3, and if by some miracle I dredge up some mad skillz, Div 2.

i just realised ive posted but havnt said anything about my life :P so here goes

my name is Ashley, (yeah i know its a girls name but hey) im 15 (16 in july) and i live in brighton in the south east of england, i am single but looking so hopefully something will come to me soon.

Im new to OLR, had no idea of it when playing GT3 (i only had it since christmas) but like many i thought with GT4 its a good chance to get in from the word go and after my podium in race 2 im addicted and am very very excited about it!!!

i played GT1 when it first came out, i remember watching the first video on a OPS magazine demo disc with my dad, i remember him saying it looked **** hot, i played that to death then and then GT2 came and it was everything i dreamed of, got it on day of release and didnt put it down till christmas 04 when i finally got my PS2 with GT3, so i only played GT3 for 3 months and i played GT2 for over 6 years or something, i got GT4 when it came out and havnt looked back since.

Recent events in my life, during spring break, tideway (the school i went to) got severely burned so we got transferred to comart which we started at on monday, didnt last long as we got attacked by outsiders (i was brutally attacked being cut on my arm by a knife) i got out of there quick and at the end of the day we were escorted onto buses by armed police.
Following that we are being put back into an isolated block in tideway, we arent allowed to stray away though so bummer.

I got dummped by my girlfreind after being with her for 3 years which sucks but thats how she feels so bleh.

thats about it i think, oh and im still a virgin ;)

Having the same problems myself!
got T's down to 26.546 & 1.02.113
but on my previous fastest overall lap i absolutely blasted that last sector away, and now can't bleedin replicate it!
would be knocking well over a second off total times if i could!

:ill:

BTW on a completely different topic,

What views are my fellow D3'ers using?

have used the bumper view for years, going back to gt1 and even on the pc i use the same view! But just started using the front of roof view, and it does help when trying to cut those chicane corners.
You can see better where the sides of the car is, and still get good feedback about under/oversteer.
IMO of course

👍

I'm using the bumper view ... I wanted 'cockpit', but obviously it wasn't available. Both roof and chase views seem false to me ... the car doesn't feel right ... and that's coming from someone who played PGRII exclusively in Chase mode.

I get a good sense of the 'side' of the car and where the wheels are at even in cockpit view and I struggle now trying to drive any other way.
