WGTC, season 1, please use new thread, link in post 1.Finished

I am going to be online in a while.
I would like to get a load of drivers on track to have a few fun races, so if you can get on then feel free to join 👍
If we can then I will probably start to look at testing possible pp penalties 👍

Ok, after testing today I would suggest putting up the pp for the GT-R. Just a slightly bit.
Other than that I´m thinking that the R8 is also just a slightly bit too fast, but that´s MY opinion after the race at Le Mans, maybe you should also state what you think about the car´s pace. 👍

I would agree that the GTR could use some more power.

It needs help with cornering more than power as it is fast on the straights :indiff: if all else fails then it might be the only option :(

It would be useful if the GT-R drivers could either post or PM me their PB lap times as they test, this will be useful and we will get all effort onto getting it up to pace :)

Well I think stiggy was running with no aero at Le Mans, which would account for his pace at Le Mans. Purely based on the fact that I could get a slipstream but then as soon as I pulled out to overtake I dropped back again

The GTR is a tough one... I can't help but think its due to the stupidly high front spring rate in comparison to the rear. It can corner well, with a good setup. Mine's not perfect but it's managed to get within 0.5 at all tracks ive tested on.

Spa was abit more worrying, I'm sure its just setups as I don't see any reason from testing at the other tracks as to why the Audi was so fast there.

At least you understand the magic of suspension settings  At Le Mans I also had a little "fight" with you in the GT-R and yeah, with a good setup it can match the pace of the other cars. Well, at least at the power tracks like Le Mans or Daytona...

Thats the thing, at the power tracks it becomes one of the fastest cars, so to give it a power boost would mean it would dominate at those tracks with a great deal of ease. I beleive Merlin is much happier with the suspension setup Caine gave him and could keep a better pace on it :)

yes well happy with suspension,, cheers caine  it help me hell of a lot now I can tweek a track tune instead of finding a tune for the car

Glad it helped :) Its tough for me, people seem to be struggling for setup, so if I keep quiet I have a better chance of winning, but would it be fun if theres two or 3 people miles ahead, no. So by helping you guys with setups it makes the racing more fun.

Nope, I had max aero. I checked after the race cause I was wondering also:lol:

Want to have a drag race before you put it on, and after you put it on?

Engine: Standard
Turbo: High range RPM
Power Limiter: 60%
Ballast: 30kgs
Power: 588BHP
Weight: 1380kgs
PP: 617

I think I'm missing something. I have these settings on the GT-R but I only have 560BHP and 609pp. Argghh. :(

Oil change?

Nordschleife with the Z4 : 6.32.612 but the car is too nervous, no fun to drive, it seems like i cant find the real good setup for bumpy tracks like this....

... and im always falling out of the caroussels i dont know why

After yesterday's fiasco at Nürburgring, i tried to find a different way of tuning the car, i found a better setup, the car became better, it suits my driving style better now, but its not yet perfect (it never is :D ) The problem was the too low chassis and too stiff suspension (which works pretty good on smoth tracks...) caused the car to bounce off the bumps, under/oversteering, and made it impossible to drive fast. My best laptime was 6:21:0 (11.5 second faster than the Z4 before) i'm trying to improve a little bit more, i think 1-1,5 sec is still there somewhere. :)

I was running with no tyre wear, just as i was driving the z4 before, so probably a few seconds will come back when we'll drive online but i think now i won't be that far away behind ;)

I changed the oil and that fixed it but I hadn't even driven the car. :irked: Do you always have to change the oil in a new car ?

Yes I always found changing oil on a new car (even on GT5) added power, but cars no longer seem to gain power by being "run in" but keep clean oil all the time as it will lose power. 👍

EDIT: on another note, I still need to see and assess your pace to know what category to put you in, I am online most days, please join us at some point before pre-season starts. 👍

And on that note if all drivers are ready then pre-season starts in exactly 2 weeks :D

I will , but I only drove the car for the first time today and all I've done is 4 laps @ Spa.

Just as head-up to the GTR drivers, I've been experimenting with the setup on the GTR as it just can't quite keep up with the other cars on twisty sections. I made a discovery at Spa. With the right setup its possible to go through Eau Rouge full throttle in the other 3 cars, however the GTR was proving difficult, until I raised the rear ride height to 120. At this height, it comfortably goes flat, and handles better. However, it limits your top speed by between 5-10mph depending on gearing. I tried upping the PP by two, and it made very little difference with the rear ride height so high. After looking into this situation, I discovered that through Eau Rouge, with a lower ride height the left rear was grounding out, and the front right was lifting off the ground. Causing the rear to kick and sudden understeer from the front.

Now I'm not sure how many circuits this will effect, but Eau Rouge is probably the corner with the highest loading on the cars, so I'm currently in the process of finding a setup which doesn't compromise top end speed and still allows it to get through Eau Rouge flat without grounding or lifting. If this can be accomplished I don't really see why it wouldn't work on any other problem corners at other circuits. The other issue, is if this requires making it so stiff it doesn't handle as well on the mid-speed corners. Then we might have to come up with a plan B.

Whatever the results, I am going to post a base setup that people can use for ALL cars. They are general setups which I begin with and then tweak to each track. They might not suit your own driving style, but it should help those who are struggling for pace.

On a slightly different note, the SLS might be subject to change spec wise. It seems that each day, at different tracks I learn something new about each car, and when taken back to previous tracks its improved the times their as well and the SLS is a car which keeps cropping up at the front. Add to that the ease at which it can be driven in comparison to the other cars. And it appears to be the dominant force at the moment.

For example, at Spa, in the SLS I managed a 2'12.5, in the R8 I managed a 2'14.3 and Z4 2'14.4. Two seconds faster, literally overnight!

Keep your eyes open for updates. :)
