What A Game!!!

First, let me start by saying I haven't played a GT since GT4 on PS2. When my PS2 bit the dust many years ago, I decided to make a switch and bought and XBox. Of course being a huge fan of the racing genre, Forza Motorsport was one of the first games I bought. From there I was hooked. Since then I bought and played every Forza that was released. A few months ago, I decided to join the cool kids club and upgrade from my XB1 to one of the next Gen systems. While I was leaning heavy on the new Xbox, most my peers were on PS5. So, I decided to switch it up and purchase a PS5. And of course, one of the first games I purchased was GT7. All I can say is "Wow"!!! This game is amazing!!! From the graphics, car selection, tracks, customizing, competitive racing and even the community. This might be the greatest raving game I've ever played. I'm only a few weeks into it, but have already logged in quite a bit of racing hours into this game. I really enjoy the racing as it's not so easy to where you get bored with it and it's not so utterly hard where you get frustrated and want to put the controller through the wall. The car selection is great. Nice mix of classic, modern and specialty vehicles. The customization is insane. Some of the liveries just boggle my mind. And Scapes might be my favorite part. So many locations and options you can do to capture that perfect moment with your favorite ride. I could probably go on all day about how great this game is. I can't wait to see more great designs, race more challenging races and capture those great moments. It's great to be back.

Good for you. It’s definitely the best racing game currently available for console, hands down. It isn’t quite up there with GT4 (imo) but it’s not so far off.

After about a year I’ve tapered off a bit, but up until a few weeks ago I was playing the hell out of it every day. So definitely got my value for money with it.

My advice is to not get too obsessed with the car collection aspect or you run the risk of it turning into a dreary grind fest. Most of the mega expensive Legends cars aren’t really useful for anything anyway, they’re just for bragging rights and/or trophies. So don’t feel you have to mind numbingly grind away for credits or you’ll just sour the experience

Welcome back.

We all Would really welcome your fresh pair of unbiased eyes,
And brutally honest point of view on this game.

The good, the bad And the ugly of GT7 in Comparison with Forza

And Vice Versa, the good the bad and the ugly of Forza in comparing with GT7.

I am subscribing to the thread and am looking forward to hearing from you !!

I also made the switch from Xbox this year and I definitely agree with you. Gran Turismo has this 'premium' feel that even made a Mazda 2 feel special at the menu book in the beginning of the game. Beautiful music, UI and art direction. In car terms, Forza Motorsport is Toyota and Gran Turismo is Lexus. And then the ability to customize cars and take pictures of them in real life museums or locations, amazing. I have no idea how Polyphony could improve on this for GT8. A huge leap in gaming hardware is needed to warrant a GT8 imo. All they really need to do is keep adding cars and track to this game.

Exactly...

Such a simple analogy, i wish thought of it before.
I also have been saying or thinking the same, I am perfectly fine with how GT7 for the next 5 years as long as they keep adding and tweaking and in improving it, I really don't need GT8...

Edit:
Is there anything from Forza that you think is better and should be part of the GT game ?
Features or car or function or UX etc....??

Would love to continue the discussion here.
All in the name of making GT the ultimate car game.

The only thing I can think of that Forza Motorsport did better, is the Car Club feature they had back in the day. Basically a clan feature. You had these overall hot lap leaderboards, and the four best times of the car club members made up the time of the car club on the leaderboard. That created a lot of competition in the game and made people work together on builds and tuning. At one point I was top 20 in the world on the Forza Motorsport 2 overall hot lap leaderboard. Fun times.

Public Service Announcement

We have had many Forza vs GT threads in the past, and they have, at times, become the source of much moderation action. Mainly due to members who are unable to separate rational discussion from tribal loyalties. As such the following rules will need to be followed for this to remain a topic of discussion.

The first and most obvious regards the AUP. Every single post will be expected to follow the AUP, any AUP violations will result in action being taken by the staff.

However I want to clarify a few points in this regard:

  • Opinion is not fact - don't present it as such
  • Argue the point don't attack the person making it
  • The term 'fanboy' (including any and all derivations) is banned
  • Accusations of 'Troll' simply because you don't like what someone says are also out
  • If you make a claim back it up with sources - fail to do so and you will be asked to provide them
  • Don't just post up pictures and video without any form of meaningful comment. This is a discussion thread not a picture/video gallery. Offending posts will be deleted on sight.

The staff reserve the right to amend and adjust the above as often and in any way we see fit.

Discuss away, but play nicely.

As @Scaff said: only Friendly Constructive Criticisms
On both sides.

Make sure to separate facts (truth with objective evidence) vs fiction or opinion.

We are all in here for the love of cars.... No use in fighting each other.

It's pretty much settled that GT is a better game than Forza lol (and so I start with an opinion), but based on many facts what we will try to discuss and lay out here in this friendly thread.

Welcome to all car lovers.

I for one wish Forza was a better game, giving GT a run for its money, because competition drives progress, but in terms of usage it is struggling to even make a dent.

Deep down I am rooting for the underdog, but Forza team has made a few wrong decisions sadly, and now it looks like they have fallen way behind...
Or is my opinion completely wrong, and if sol Please educate me

My personal preference is Forza Motorsport, based on the following broad breakdown:

Visuals: GT7 gets this one, no question it looks better to me, however I do still find the tracks overly sterile looking, but the car models more than make up for that.

Audio: Kudos to PD for bringing GT along so far in this regard. FM long held this, but overall it's pretty much now too close to call.

Physics: Again pretty much a draw (ignoring GT's dirt physics), they both lag behind the more dedicated sim titles around, but that's not the target market for either anyway.

FFB: This is a tricky one, as out of the box GT7 gets it, but once dialed in FM7 does manage for me to slide ahead. However, neither title are close to the best FFB around.

Car List: GT has the numbers, than much is objectively true, but subjectively FM7 has a car list that appeals to me on a personal level (oh and it has Lotus in it).

Track List: Despite my dislike for modern PD original circuits, PD gets this one on objective numbers, but does still annoy me for wasting the Pikes Peak license

ToD / Weather: I personally give this to FM7 simply because of the greater flexibility in use, however I do really like the weather map in GT.

Damage: FM7 has a model that will effectively end your chances in a race should you mess up, so gets it for me.

AI: Both suck in their own special ways (Sophy doesn't cover all track and all consoles - so I'm not counting it).

Race Structure: It's an odd one to have to add, but given that PD still stick to the 'chase the rabbit' approach for the vast majority of the single player I just can't avoid calling it out. FM7 for me on this one.

In-game Economy: FM7 for me, it's far more simplistic, avoids 'random' awards and just gives you money to buy cars as the core mechanism (and no micro Transactions).

Photo-mode: For replay stuff it's pretty much a draw, but GT7 gets the edge for Scapes.

Modification/Tuning: A draw, both have unique elements, but for me they balance out to be overall level.

TLDR: It's very close, but FM for me due to a small number of factors.

Edited to add: GT7 on a PS5 and FM on PC.

In Forza (can't remember which one) you could share and download tunes. Controller players also had the options to use a clutch, which is helpful for immersion, drifting and when you need to do a clutch kick U-turn.
