Drinking a Fuller's London Pride at the airport lounge right now, it's nice to have an ale again after weeks of only lagers.

Brunch was soup and pastrami sandwich. Yeah, I know...

Dinner was BBQ Smoked Pork Loin Chops with Carrots, Potato Pancakes and Stuffing. Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale for dessert.

What was the sauce by the chops, Solid? Looks like cranberry, but I could be mistaken.
Never seen that Blue Moon in our stores - I should ask; looks intriguing - pumpkin ale?

Wasn't hard to imagine that; made my mouth water. 👍

Dinner was supposed to be simple - steamed cabbage and chicken nuggets*.
Then came the dips.
A Taste of Will.
Dinner was an italian beef sandwich so big and soggy from being dipped in au jus, I had to eat it with a knife and fork. Plenty of hot giardiniera.

Had a rerun of last night since it was so good. (Plus I had an extra roll to use up)

Kicked it up a notch by adding melted mozzarella cheese this time. 👍

Haha . . . I know what you mean, adamgp . . . some meals just call for an encore - and you know, more often than not it's an Italian dish.

Just had a huge bowl of fettucine drowned in a meat sauce - diced hot Italian pork sausages, in a rich tomato sauce of red bell peppers, shredded celery, garlic, onion, etc, - the predominant herb being thyme.
I was pretty much in a daze after that, but also thinking of when I was going to repeat the whole process.

Biggest reason I had it again was out of laziness, lol. Wouldn't exactly call it an "Italian" dish, since it originated in Chicago.

What you had sounds pretty good as well. May have to try it later in the week.

Contradiction there. What is the story behind it, sounds interesting; 'italian' influence in Chicago?

And now I'm off to dive into more food - thinking of strawberry Pop-Tarts and copious amounts of tea. And maybe some video-gaming, or fiddling with model cars.
Ah! Don't we just love weekends.

There are 2 theories on how it originated. Either from a local Chicago joint, or by Italian immigrants working in the Chicago stockyards decades ago. Mainly what makes it "Italian" is the kind of ingredients that go into the juices the beef is cooked in.

Chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich - Giant Sized
And when I say chocolate chip cookie, the emphasis really is on the chocolate (a thin veil of cookie between each chocolate cluster).

After popping the clamp, it was devoured by several munchkins.

I know what you mean - as soon as I even smell oregano in a dish I'll think 'italian!' :)
Some condiments are very closely associated with certain cultures.

Which leads me to think:
I wouldn't put soya sauce all over my fettucine.
But, then again, if I call them noodles, it wouldn't be so inappropriate, either.

The sauce is Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.

Harvest Pumpkin Ale is OK. Mild pumpkin spice flavor. Not bad, but not great. It's only available during Fall. It's available in 12 packs, so look out for it.

Lunch is going to be:

* left over chervil soup.

* spaghetti with home made spaghetti sauce and emmentaler cheese.
