Looking for something for dinner, curiosity got the better of me. Picked up a pack of these and made one for dinner:

Alarmingly they smelled like canned dog food when I opened the package, but I cooked them (cast iron skillet) according to instructions. After cooking they looked like meat. I wanted to go easy on the toppings so I could taste the burger, plain bun with some BBQ sauce.

It didn't taste bad, just didn't taste much like a regular beef burger. Good try though.

Maybe someday I'll try the Impossible burger. For now, that requires going to a restaurant and interacting with people. I didn't want to do that tonight. The Beyond burger is supposed to be the best, most meat-like burger available in stores so I got that instead.

Yesterday I made a mistake making spaghetti sauce resulting in not having spaghetti. This means that I can enjoy my delicious homemade spaghetti sauce today, with spaghetti of course.

The impossible whopper is now available country wide in the US. Everything I've heard daddy's they ate nearly identical to a regular whopper. Hopefully that doesnt include the gut rot BK tends to give me. The wife and I plan to test them.put some time next week.
This morning I am having coffee. I'll make the kiddos something for bfast, but we started a new campaign in Starfinder with out D&D group and I may have imbibed a bit to lavishly to eat this morning.

Spaghetti en spaghetti sauce was almost perfect.

Who eats spaghetti sauce with cheese? Any cheese.

I know it is nation-wide now, but only in restaurants and I didn't want to go out last night. Someday I'll track down a Burger King and try one, haven't been there in years, as there are better fast food burger places around here.

Bagel breakfast sandwich with a folded omelet, Canadian bacon, a slice of Muenster and sriracha mayo. Black coffee.

Please tell me those are not intestines on a stick.

EDIT: Or worms.

EDIT TWO: Okay I couldn't look again to get a third idea. Hard no.

That bit at the top looks offal.

...

Got some Thai takeout; drunken noodle for myself and a couple red curries with beef.

Had a request for a cream-based cocktail after dinner so I did something along the lines of a Golden Dream but with equal parts whipping cream, orange juice, Galliano and Cointreau. I could have done a double just fine but three cocktails in one shake took longer than I'd like to get it sufficiently frothy and ended up with more dilution, so I splashed some additional Cointreau on each once they were poured...and it was fantastic. Called it a New Gold Dream after the Simple Minds song.

There appear to be three sticks.

:P

What's wrong with variety meat? Ever had scrapple?

After my Friday night experiment, I was craving a real burger. Ground beef & bacon mix topped with smoked American cheese and BBQ sauce.

Also had a grilled ear of corn.

Just me for dinner so I thawed some cooked lentils for an easy salad with red onion, capers and lots of parsley, and did a quick, hot grill on an oyster steak with a shake of very potent pepper flakes.

Had the 2nd Beyond burger tonight.

Gave them a shot, but certainly won't be buying them again. Too expensive, smell like canned dog food, and taste/texture are odd.

I'll stick with the real beef burgers.

I ate outside my dietary budget a little to late last night. Got my steak for lunches in the water a little to late last night and it wasn't ready for the grill until about 930. What's a fella to do while waiting? Eat ice cream of course! Accompanied by a banana and some chocolate syrup. So, think I may skip breakfast and eat lunch a little late. A delicious steak salad for lunch though.

I got a turkey filet instead of a chicken filet. The chicken filet didn't smell right, so I returned it and got turkey instead.

Last night I ate out of my comfort zone. I’m a meat and potatoes guy normally but this sounded to good not to try.

Fried Brie Platter
Brie wrapped in puffed pastry, fried and topped with house made chutney.
Served with apples, pears, blue cheese crumbles, honey/date balsamic reduction, candied walnuts and grilled baguette.
It was incredible

Bloomy rind cheese and pome fruits are so good together.

...

Had great homemade pizza tonight at a neighbor's. And daiquiris.

Haven't checked back in a while since the *clears throat* incident above. :P

Glad to see you gave those burgers q second try, @Adamgp. But, I'm even happier that you're not going to be sticking with them.

"Then didn't feel like tacos."

I can't quite understand this sentence.
If ya don't get it, then it's nacho business. :sly:

It was a 2 pack, so it was either eat the 2nd one or throw it away. The 1st one actually wasn't that bad. I might have waited too long to eat the other one, which is why it tasted funky. That, and I was 100% sober for burger #2.

Anyhoo, tonight's dinner was a smoked jalapeno & cheddar sausage that I brought home from the Michigan trip which was awesome.

Also some air fried veggie ring things that weren't good but they were cheap.

Heh...did tacos last night (chorizo and potato with avocado salsa), and some esquites that a neighbor brought over.
