Decided to grill up some chicken, brats and veggies.

I'm tired from early work shifts, but I made it through a grilling session.

Not quite the works that I usually do. I also didn't get to marinate the chicken too long and had to place it back in the oven to finish.

Was that the burger conceived by one of the Things?

It's definitely that time of year. It's after 10:00 and yet to drop below 100, so the drink blender came out. I'm presently enjoying a smoothie comprised solely of fresh peaches and ice...

...and some bourbon.

Dinner was grilled chicken sandwiches on toasted sourdough-walnut bread with tomato, spinach, feta and a white balsamic mayo with some minced pickled garlic and olives mixed in.

No, that was all me. Bacon, CoJack, bread and butter pickles, Hoisin. Very tasty.

It really does sound tasty though.
 
Last thing I made was grilled chicken drumsticks, but I wanted to condition those into something else.

I made a kind of biryani with cabbage, sweet potatoes in it and the grilled chicken. I put cinnamon and nutmeg, plus other spices in it and simmered it for an hour.

The rice absorbed all of the smoky flavor from the chicken and the chicken fell off the bone when it came in contact with a spoon.

I will say, some rice overcooked, but it tastes AMAZING.

Black Manhattan, made with Cynar. It's...bold. It's not bad, but I don't think I'll repeat it.
 
I just ate a pancake that was past its expiration date. It tasted not as a pancake has to taste. :yuck:

I checked the date and the pancakes were still edible until yesterday so I thought what is one day past the expiration date.

It's a pre-made pancake, of course it's not going to taste like a pancake is supposed to. :lol:
 
Today I tried to make a homemade cheeseburger. It looked like the real thing. It was big, huge and was not that bad. Suffice to say that it was certainly not as good as the cheeseburgers I get from a burger place shop thing..
 
Bucatini and clams, and a Caesar. Since I had the vermouth out for the clams, I had a dirty Gibson while I was cooking.
 
Baked potatoes
Salad
Tomato
Carrots (steamed)
Fried eggs
and lots and lots of mayonnaise and curry ketchup
 
Smoked New York strip steak to go into a steak salad for dinner. Salt, pepper and a small amount of garlic salt on both sides, then smoked at 225F for an hour.

Finish by searing fat cap and both sides of steak to get the crust. Let rest, and slice. Also made sliced portobello mushrooms cooked in the pan that's been deglazed with a white wine. Both mushroom and steak went onto a salad of kale, lettuce and red onions, with remaining reduced pan juices as dressing.
