I mean... aren't these scalloped potatoes?

Does a fennel not taste like an onion?
Yes, it does not. Fennel has a sweet anise flavor and it's not even remotely related to any of the alliums.

My wife loves it. I don't.

That would be a gratin of potatoes, however they've added cheese where the traditional preparation is just potatoes, butter, cream, salt and pepper.

...

Picked up a pizza; mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, lemon and parm.

Currently knocking back some rather nice flavored milk.

@Spacegoat... why have I been reading “Scapegoat” for so many years? Did you recently change it?

No, no. It's always been "Space". You've got me wondering now, if I did change it to "Scape". Would anyone notice?
But seriously they're potato fritters

Agree to disagree? :P
I suppose you don't eat fritz or yiros either

I had to google both. Honestly fritz was sounding pretty good before I got to the part where the casing is a sheep appendix. What the hell, man!? :ill:

In fairness, you've also got your collagen casings which are made from *other* parts of animals. Nothing particularly bothersome, mind, but I prefer the natural casings.

Yep, nope, I am right there with ya man..I am not a fan of anise either. Why would anyone want to make that a soup?

I dont think the pic is au gratin, I mean, it's a little yellowish, but I dont think cheese was in the recipe.

Cheese in/on potatoes au gratin isn't a foregone conclusion, and neither is breadcrumbs; though either/both appear. "Gratin" refers specifically to the browned top.

All that's needed for a gratin is [in this case but not limited to] potatoes, with dairy and utilizing high heat from above to allow for deeper browning. Typically butter is included for added richness, as is seasoning.

You've got countless variations on the general idea, such as a gratin dauphinoise (from Dauphiné) which calls for the potatoes to not be cooked before slicing and instead be sliced thinner, as well as a gratin savoyard (from Savoy) which does call for cheese.

Scalloped potatoes are a basic gratin with butter and cream, defined by the scallop pattern traditionally used to layer the potatoes. However, the preparation can include other ingredients and involve other processes such as the making of a roux.

Ok, it is past lunchtime. I took me over 1 hour to prepare but the result is very good.

  • Mushroom cream soup
  • Whole grain brown rice
  • Sauce (Mushrooms, carrots, white onion, red paprika, Himalayan salt, vegetable bouillon, and cashew cream)

What was the hint? Were the raspberries paying the "warmer colder game" to find the cup of water?
Smoked Turkey with really crispy skin sounds freaking amazing right now.

Instant Pot adventure #2 was a success. I made burrito bowls which were fantastic. The chicken came out super tender, although I think it could have benefited from a little more heat.

I've only made 2 things with it so far, but I'm really liking it. One of the issues I've had with my current job is that I frequently don't get home until later in the afternoon which makes it hard to cook an actual meal. This thing cooks so fast though that I can cook a proper meal in the time it would take to make a frozen dinner or hit the drive-through.

My next four meals are planned out and all of them will be cooked with the pressure cooker. Love that thing although I do have to ever so slightly modify the recipes as I don't have an Instant Pot and that's what all of the recipes like to use.

Pressure cooker Coke (the cola!) shredded pork shoulder.

With cheese, sour cream, rice and cilantro. Definitely making it again, just with spicier enchilada sauce.
I invite you to come to Belgium and make lunch for me and my dad every day.

You are a Chef.

EDIT: this is a cry for help @TB. I need your culinary talent. I can't even prepare a pizza properly. Look what I did to the cheese. :irked:

Shirred eggs with bacon and chives; cottage cheese with fresh peach slices, salt and pepper; coffee.

After an hour on the elliptical, I didn't want to completely blow it so just a ham sandwich with a bit of mayo. Simple but tasty.

Teach me.
Elliptical? Some sort of cardio fitness device?
Blow what?

Ditto, except reverse and inverted.

Skipped breakfast and had a ham sandwich about 10:15. Only added a slice of mozzarella.

Consumed water.

Went for a mile walk/run about 12:45.
