You do realise that by the time you've paid for all the installments you could have bought a real MP4-23...

:D

Haha, well true that because each issue will be MYR30, and it has a total of 85 issues so that'd be MYR2550

What's the scale of that? 1:18?

It's 1:8 but as you know the front wing of F1 cars in those days aren't as big as nowadays so it feels small and installing parts aren't that easy.

Oh okay, looks like its worth the price though. 👍

I had a Ferrari F1 Lego model (1:24 scale) that I took apart and turned into a tank, dumbest mistake of my life.

That's over £500! It better be good for that.

Don't worry, I did the same thing a few years back with a radio controlled Subaru STi which ended up costing about £100 more than just buying a similar model by Tamiya. :banghead:

Couldn't you rebuild it? I think that's at least one unique property of Lego isn't it? :P

A tank? What the hell?!

But it's owkey mate, that's the past. Get something and get working. You'll appreciate it ;)

Owh but I forgot to tell you guys (though I have said this in the other thread) that I'm just going to build the front wing and the rear wing. Still those would cost about MYR210 and that's still expensive. In any way whatsoever, it still is a whole lot cheaper than buying the official MP4-23 front wing from McLaren shop!

I'm short on cash honestly, so I'm unable to build the whole car. In the end the car would be massive at about 580+mm in length!

I take that back :scared:.

Not when you lost pieces, I underestimated the power of the vacuum cleaner :(.

Yeah I combined it with a Mega Blocks Nascar set I had as well as some other Lego. The tank did look good. My parents were pissed, and I was sad once I realised how much the thing cost.
But oh well...
I got like 8 model car kits I haven't even opened. So I should be good for a while.

As a kid, we've always done stupid things because I've done so many, many times before

But since you still have 8 models to go, why not to make a new start and appreciate the masterpiece you're going to build? 💡

Yeah, I have a 1969 Ford Cougar Eliminator body and a 2003 Nascar Ford Taurus chassis to fit it to (Nascar kit came with no body ) so that should keep me busy.

Just got home from work, and am about to go and paint a windowsill and a cupboard, making sure our kitten is NOT in the same room. I'm sure she'd love to 'help', but white paw prints everywhere are not in our design brief!:)

If you paint the walls the same colour as the floor then she can join in all she wants. :dopey:

I'm not sure she's actually trying to help as cats are quite lazy. i've never seen one with a job anyway...

She's been 'helping' this week by lying on the wallpaper as I've tried to paste it, following me up the step-ladder to steal my sponge, and dropping her toys into the tub of paste.

She definitely isn't lazy, but I think that's because she's confused and thinks she's a dog. I had to spend half an hour tonight playing Fetch with her. I throw her toy rat to the top of the stairs, she fetches it back and drops it for me to throw again. I get tired before she does!:)

Your cat's more dog-like than my dog. We tell her to drop the ball once or twice before we have to glare at till she drops it. The minute she drops it she tries picking it up straight away before we can get it it! She's also scared of other cars apart from our own

I made a 1/18 scale Viper GTS-R Team Oreca, it's not an actual lego model, my own design, it had an opening bonnet to reveal an engine, and opening doors to reveal an interior with race seat, gear stick and steering wheel. I took half of it apart to make a pathetic 1/28 scale I would roughly guess MG Lola. :(

Did a bunch of things today.

Replaced a diode in my MR2's headlight motor. The headlight now flips up like it should.

Removed the entire driver door harness and repaired a few wires that were broken. This in turn fixed my red courtesy light in the door panel, and I discovered there's a little light around the door handle keyhole.

I also used my newly bought DMM to find the dimmer wire and hooked that up to my headunit. No more glaring bright DVD player at night.

I just finished re-wiring my lights/occupancy sensor/timer so once I finish up a little piece of speaker cloth for a door and cut in a low voltage retrofit box and wire up the surround speakers I can order my new PS3.

Oops. :embarrassed:

Waiting for class to start, drinking my tea... my list of things to do before class started took far, FAR less time than I had envisioned...

Continuing my McLaren, now installing my first wheel, some suspension parts and front nose.

To my surprise, the rims that Kyosho provide is 100% metal and highly detailed!

Sat at work, half way through an incident report for some damage that a new start has caused with our crane.

Whilst also making sure that we are drilling in the right direction and not losing all our mud.

I'm currently trying to order 40 feet of aluminum tubing for a project - a new type of trebuchet made to throw a golf ball. Small scale right now.

I'll be posting videos here once I'm done - it'll be really cool. :D

Thanks TB! Have you built one yourself? For AP Physics last year I made a large floating arm trebuchet that threw a 4lb shot put about 200 feet.

Not the best video but it was shot with a scuba diving camera. We had problems with bad warpage of the wood so it probably could have thrown much farther. There's more info in the description.

The one I'm building is going to be no taller than 4ft, but my goal is to throw a golf ball at least farther than I can drive one. :D

Here's a larger scale built by Leonard Vance:

I didn't come up with any of the original plans but I did work with him to come up with a smaller design that will work better with metal.

Anyways, I'll definitely post vids here when I'm done. Probably going to get started this weekend.

No, and even if I do it won't be nearly that large (at least to start with)! A few years ago I was looking at plans for a desktop treb but it didn't make it past looking. Maybe when the kids get a bit older (although their close as it is) it can be a fun weekend project for us. 💡

Currently listening to Awolnation and reading my German textbook while waiting for dinner, because Pony-night follows. Tonight's going too be pretty awesome, especially after spending the day in Hamlin. Or Hameln, because the English version looks stupid.
