This is a bump, but better than making a new thread. Opera for the win, it just works much smoother than other browsers I've tried.

If this was a multiple-choice poll, I'd say Firefox, Opera, and IE7. All work really well for me.

Good point, I'm sitting with them all up now. On Honda-Tech with FF, on GTP with Opera and on ImageShack with IE. The latter because "My images" are stored on the IE-"user".
My main usage is on Opera, but hey, FF is free too. And you've got to change a bit, mann. Variety, yeah mann!
By the way, I think Opera's problem is distribution. Mozilla is more common I guess, as Opera is originally Norwegian (I think it still is).

and intenet explorer sucks:yuck:

every time i use it it either closes or crashes and if it didn't do that i would probably still be using it but it really p!$$es me off

IE7 RC1 eats memory like a mother compared to previous versions. Plus, the layout of it is really crap, and it still has the same security holes as before.

What? I used RC1, it didn't use any more memory as opera did. And I do agree with you on the layout, it's rather confusing and it pissed me off and I quit using it

Can you imagine how the die-hard IE users are going to react when they are forced to use it when it becomes final? I see some mass-confusion in the future.

I'm talking about those that think that big "e" on their desktop is the internet. (Yes I know a few people who fit this category)

Well, die-hard users will probably be using the IE7 betas, and so they'll probably have enough practice for the final version. However, I can imagine a bunch of confusion with the ignorant (meaning they haven't heard of Firefox before) people.

I edumakated my grandparents on the basics of their computer. They pretty much retched at the sight of FireFox at first, but now, my grandma uses tabbed browsing on E-Bay like no other.

I guess I used the wrong word. I didn't mean people that are interested in the bleeding-edge of technology. I meant people that know close-to-nothing about computers. When Windows Update upgrades their precious IE6 to 7, oh man...

To further explain just who I am talking about, take this actual conversation from last year. I was interested in switching to DSL or Cable, but I asked the wrong person.

Me: Hey what kind of internet do you have?

Her: What do you mean?

Me: Do you have AOL?

Her: You mean for IMs?

Me: No, I meant, do you have dial-up or DSL or whatever.

Her: I don't know.

*Decides to take a 'less technical' approach*

Me: How do you get on the internet? Does is dial like a phone or do you just click on Internet Explorer and you're always on?

Her: I just click on Internet Explorer. Why?

Me: I was going to ask you something but nevermind.

*Talks about something else*

I've tried to convert my friends to FF or Opera, but was only successful twice. Then, I stopped bothering.

I tried to convert my dad to Firefox from IE6, especially since he has a ton of important data on his laptop, but he thinks it'll screw up everything of his.

What does he think of the Mac and Safari?

I hear a lot of excuses. This one is the best one: "You know it's a Windows world right? Sooner of later, you'll regret getting a Mac for college and you'll need Internet Explorer."

This was during the summer before my freshman year and coming from my friend's mom after saying that I use Firefox instead of IE that and I would replace my Dell with an iBook for my 3rd year of college.

Two years later, and I'm still planning on a MacBook. But that iMac price-cut is tempting me.

He personally thinks Safari is pretty nice, but he just doesn't want to switch because he thinks Firefox would screw his laptop up.

Because everyone loves wierd graphs.

I actually only looked these up because I was wonder why the hell Netscape went off the face of the earth. I remember when I started using the Internet Netscape was the bomb. Turns out Microsoft pretty much out moneyed them to the ground.

  • Netscape's business model was not to give away its browser but sell server software. Microsoft understood this and attacked Netscape's revenue sources, bundling Microsoft's Internet Information Server web server "free" with server versions of Windows, and offering Microsoft customers workalike clones of Netscape's proxy server, mail server, news server, and other software free or at steep discounts. This didn't have much effect at first, as much of Netscape's revenues came from customers using Sun Microsystems servers, but the gradual result was to make Windows NT more popular as a server for Internet and intranet while cutting off Netscape's income.
  • Microsoft created licensing agreements with computer manufacturers requiring them to provide desktop icons for IE [2], while penalizing them for shipping Netscape on their computers. (DOJ/Antitrust paragraph 80)
  • Microsoft made it very easy for small and medium ISPs to release branded versions of Internet Explorer, and with few exceptions they did, meaning that users of many ISPs were encouraged to use Internet Explorer and not Netscape.
  • Microsoft created a licensing agreement with AOL to base AOL's primary interface on IE rather than Netscape.
  • Microsoft purchased and released a web authoring tool, FrontPage, that tended to create pages that looked better in IE.

Firefox all the time, except for when I'm getting some insurace quotes, some companies sites don't like FireFox so I have to revert to IE.

very sorry to abuse this thread

etc

steven

wow, totally random.
if I've understood you correctly, I think you should just need to do a printscreen of your finished excel table and paste that into any imaging program to crop it down to what you want to show. Upload the pic and insert it into your post.
Sorry if you've tried this and I'm misunderstanding your troubles.

Anyways, Firefox for me. I even keep FF Portable on my USB stick so I can use it at computers without FF installed. I love the tabbed browsing.
