If this was a multiple-choice poll, I'd say Firefox, Opera, and IE7. All work really well for me.
Yes, FF does take longer to open, but tabbed browsing make up for that in a hurry.
That's for damn sure. I'll never go back to anything that doesn't support tabbed browsing.
The only IE7 I've tried is Beta 1, but the tab system sucks in comparison to anything else.As you may know, IE7 has tabbed borwsing now too . Took Microsoft long enough
MachỎne;2436975IE7 RC1 eats memory like a mother compared to previous versions. Plus, the layout of it is really crap, and it still has the same security holes as before.
Well, die-hard users will probably be using the IE7 betas, and so they'll probably have enough practice for the final version. However, I can imagine a bunch of confusion with the ignorant (meaning they haven't heard of Firefox before) people. Can you imagine how the die-hard IE users are going to react when they are forced to use it when it becomes final? I see some mass-confusion in the future.
I'm talking about those that think that big "e" on their desktop is the internet. (Yes I know a few people who fit this category)

MachỎne;2437037I edumakated my grandparents on the basics of their computer. They pretty much retched at the sight of FireFox at first, but now, my grandma uses tabbed browsing on E-Bay like no other.

I tried to convert my dad to Firefox from IE6, especially since he has a ton of important data on his laptop, but he thinks it'll screw up everything of his.I've tried to convert my friends to FF or Opera, but was only successful twice. Then, I stopped bothering.

He personally thinks Safari is pretty nice, but he just doesn't want to switch because he thinks Firefox would screw his laptop up.What does he think of the Mac and Safari?
I hear a lot of excuses. This one is the best one: "You know it's a Windows world right? Sooner of later, you'll regret getting a Mac for college and you'll need Internet Explorer."
This was during the summer before my freshman year and coming from my friend's mom after saying that I use Firefox instead of IE that and I would replace my Dell with an iBook for my 3rd year of college.
Two years later, and I'm still planning on a MacBook. But that iMac price-cut is tempting me.
- Netscape's business model was not to give away its browser but sell server software. Microsoft understood this and attacked Netscape's revenue sources, bundling Microsoft's Internet Information Server web server "free" with server versions of Windows, and offering Microsoft customers workalike clones of Netscape's proxy server, mail server, news server, and other software free or at steep discounts. This didn't have much effect at first, as much of Netscape's revenues came from customers using Sun Microsystems servers, but the gradual result was to make Windows NT more popular as a server for Internet and intranet while cutting off Netscape's income.
- Microsoft created licensing agreements with computer manufacturers requiring them to provide desktop icons for IE [2], while penalizing them for shipping Netscape on their computers. (DOJ/Antitrust paragraph 80)
- Microsoft made it very easy for small and medium ISPs to release branded versions of Internet Explorer, and with few exceptions they did, meaning that users of many ISPs were encouraged to use Internet Explorer and not Netscape.
- Microsoft created a licensing agreement with AOL to base AOL's primary interface on IE rather than Netscape.
- Microsoft purchased and released a web authoring tool, FrontPage, that tended to create pages that looked better in IE.
