I've been going Chrome for a while, then I tried FF5 for a while and there were just a whole bunch of little things that I missed. Chrome's UI just feels smoother to me. So now that I'm back with it I can only think of 2 things I miss about FF5, and that would be the theme I used, and.... alright, I know there's something, but it's 5:49 AM here so I can't really remember it.

But overall I prefer Chrome. Partially for the bookmark sync with Android. I know I can do that with FFAndroid, but Mozilla should stick to PCs, because the Android version is garbage.

Dumb people use Internet Explorer

A recent study links intelligence test results with browser usage - and the results don't look good for users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer, especially its older versions.

The study, titled Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Browser Usage by Canadian company AptiQuant, compiled IQ test scores of 101,326 individuals older than 16 and divided them into groups according to the browser they use.

The results are fascinating. Users of Internet Explorer 6 have an average IQ score barely more than 80; Firefox and Chrome users fare much better, with average IQ scores of about 110, while Opera and Camino users have an average IQ score more than 120.

It's also interesting to note that average IQ scores of IE6 users were significantly higher in 2006, and that the IQ scores get better with newer versions of IE.

Internet Explorer 6 has long been a thorn in the side of developers who hated it for its non-compliance with web standards, while users struggled with its many security flaws. This new study will probably induce more mockery of the ancient (but still sometimes found on older computers) browser and its users, but it's probably not telling us that much about the browser itself - it's about unwillingness to upgrade to a new version of any software.

The study concludes that "individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers".

It's only logical that users with a higher IQ are more likely to experiment, choose a different software version or variant (notice that users of IE with Chrome frame score very highly on IQ tests) or listen to upgrade suggestions and security advice.

In March, Microsoft started a campaign to get users to stop using Internet Explorer 6. But did it take into account the fact that many IE6 users tend to have lower than average IQ scores? Maybe that's the key to finally getting rid of the world's most hated web browser.

"Individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers … Now that we have a statistical pattern on the continuous usage of incompatible browsers, better steps can be taken to eradicate this nuisance," the study concludes.

There are so many variables in there. You would need more information, I'm sure many older people that don't really know computers that bought one when IE6 came as standard would likely not upgrade to a different browser.

My first Windows 98 had AOL

My main computer, which is never used, had Firefox for most of its time before I switched it to Chrome. Then I had to get it reformatted and Chrome disappeared so it's Firefox now. I also tried Safari on it briefly.

The laptop I'm using right now (not mine) uses Firefox and Firefox only.

My laptop uses Chrome, and Chrome only. Although it has Firefox for wallpapers since Chrome doesn't do that :indiff: But seriously, Chrome is very fast and it's simple too.

I only use IE if it's the only available option on my computer, which means my dad's laptop or my dad's work computers. IE is just outclassed by the other browsers.

I used Netscape Navigator for the longest time (from when I first got internet) then was on the terrible IE6 for a couple of years because it came with XP then switched to Firefox around version 2.5 and never looked back.

Robin.

I use Firefox for browsing the web and Google Chrome for viewing videos.Chrome seems to run better on videos for some reason.

Yeah I noticed that. I just stole the flash plugin from my Chrome folder and shoved in firefox's . Fixed that problem.

I had been using IE8 ever since it came out (plus I used IE7 prior to that), but then I started using Firefox 5 not too long ago because I'd finally had enough of dealing with the various problems associated with IE. I have to say that Firefox 5 is far better than either version of IE.

I really should get some sort of medal for having to put up with IE for so long.

Chrome is not in the options?

I mainly use Firefox, but since it blocks my GTPlanet account :grumpy: on the PC I use Chrome there. I must say Firefox loses out a bit at this moment compared to Chrome for me.

Only thing that stops me from using Chrome is the way it bookmarks and there being no decent add-on for it.

I have Chrome and IE, I normally use whatever my cursor is closest to! I dont spend much time on the net.

I primarily use Firefox, frequently use Konqueror and Iceweasel. Within the past year or so I've used lynx, epiphany, and undoubtedly one or two I'm forgetting. I tried Chromium recently, didn't really like it. I'd like to try Chrome but it doesn't support linux (ubuntu and Red Hat yes, linux no).

Been using Mozilla for the last 5 years, never even bother to switch to any other... It's user-friendly and quick though it's quite a memory eater. Lots of Add-Ons available too!

I use Safari on my phone, Safari on my iMac, Chrome on my Macbook, Chrome on one of my PCs, and Firefox on the other.
