What did you notice the most in the demo?

First thing I noticed is the updated map in the hud. In GT5 we where only a small red arrow in 2D. Now you are a red arrow in a 3D map while your opponent (Ghost) is yellow. I imagine the possible blue, green en yellow arrows around the map while you are racing an endurance race :

Green arrow: 1st position
Yellow arrow: Driver ahead of you
Blue arrow : Driver behind you
Red arrow : You

Next thing I noticed, at Autumn Ring with the Nissan 370Z the race is in the afternoon with a low sun position. Advanced day/night time on every track ?? :D

And like many others, I noticed the new physics engine. The body-roll and braking is much smoother and communicative with the driver. Big plus for PD here !
Engine sounds are not that good (still), but somewhere there's more depth and authenticity in the revving and I enjoyed the way I did some practise at Silverstone and turned the stereo louder and louder.

You know I just noticed that there doesn't seem to be that horrible "valvetrain-ish" noise as the the cars approach the camera in replay. I honestly think that was always my biggest problem with the sound in GT. All I hear on approach now is road noise and some engine note. Very nice 👍

Would running 720p help with performance as well by any chance? It´s really hard to evaluate physics at 15 fps... Will have to try it I am just afraid it will introduce some input lag on my monitor with it having to do the scaling to 1080p
15FPS? I suppose you have a way of showing what FPS the game runs at then? The game runs as smooth as silk on my PS3 Slim.

What I noticed straight off, sadly, was somewhat lower quality visuals , interior wise especially as compared to GT5. Sure, the tracks are downright beautiful. Autumn Ring has rockets in the sky, birds like someone mentioned, and I also noticed leaves along the kerb being blown around by passing cars when they show the starting formation of the rolling start.
But during the introductory tutorial, I noticed a lot of blur and flickering around . Also in-car, since I'm a cockpit -cam driver, noticed somehow quality was not at par with GT5. You can notice the jagged steering wheel while driving the 370Z. Also during replays, the rims are pretty jagged too. A step down from the visual quality of premium cars offered in GT5.

Though I guess it was all required, because the menus and UI are fantastic. There is hardly any waiting while transitioning from menu to track, or loading cars in the dealership etc. Much much much smoother than GT5. That's a plus point.

And the biggest plus point of them all is the updated physics. You'll notice it soon as you get in your Leaf. THe body-roll, the responsiveness, the feel. Also, I've always been a rash driver so I've noticed the car reacts differently from GT5 under heavy breaking, sudden sharp turns etc. All these small things are part of the immense changes they've made in the physics. And im loving it :)

Set a time of 2:23 on silverstone so far. Been completely unfamiliar with the track, so it's like learning from scratch. Gonna try to improve my time, though it's not gonna count, as my country is not eligible for the competition.

It was disappointing for me but it's still a long way off release, lot's of time to change things. I liked the UI, seems much sharper and hope it is the same in the final release. Didn't like the Leaf, reminded me of watching big old American muscle cars with the amount of roll it had. Overall, didn't really get me any more excited than I already was, maybe if they had stuck the Deltawing or the KTM in the demo I might be more enthusiastic.

Am I the only one with game running on 59.94p? O.o :/
Whole game looks stretched and doesnt really fit the screen.
You can see it while looking back with R1 at your car (especially hood and lights)
I cant set display percentage to get good quality :/
WTF?

Menus - Absolutely beautiful compared to gt5.
Loading -Vastly improved.
Visuals - Lighting is phenomenal on all tracks in the demo.
Physics - Suspension and body roll are a thing of beauty during the races and even better looking in replays.

Overall, a vastly superior game to what we have seen in Gran Turismo 5.

Congrats PD, you're on to another winner.

The textures and color on the Silverstone tarmac reminded me of the GT2 Seattle circuit tarmac, gave me an amazing nostalgia. Still under it now. I love GT6 already.

Handbrake doesn't work ! Am i the only one ?

Yeah same. But I changed all the buttons around to how I have em in GT5 as i use the triggers and use cross and square for gears. And various other buttons I change. Including circle as handbreak

Inconsistent Brake, Major understeer, Retarded AI. With that, I absolutely can not complain. They gave it to us for free and it is very good for being a free demo.

Also: If I can't complete one full lap on silverstone without getting DQ"d, you guys will no longer see me on ps3 as it will be thrown from my window.

Edit: Just got 53rd place, soon to be 52,062

I absolutely love the feel of the cars, I was so shocked on the 370z outlap at how much the car dives. I feel as if I am fully in control for once, which is nice. I also like the clean display, it follows the traditional GT look whilst being brought into 2013. I don't want to go back to gt5 now, I just want more gt6!

Pros: Improved lighting, better sounds (at least on the tuned 370z), awesome physics (though a bit exaggerated on the Leaf) but perfect for drifting, kicking up leaves on Autumn Ring :P, HUD looks good, menu navigation greatly improved as well as buying cars
Cons: Inconsistent FPS, dumb AI, no 360 degree rotation view, instant-shifts after 3rd gear

Positives:
Menu navigation speed.
Real player name instead of PSN ID.
Lightning engine.
Better looking HUD.

Negatives:
Graphics stutter.
AI.

I still have to get more experience with the new physics engine before I can judge it, but so far I'm not enjoying it compared to GT5. I hope it's just until I get used to it.

Just noticed a couple of things in the credits. They're using Robert Penner's easing adjustments, obviously in th UI, but also Mersenne Twister, wonder what they're using that for.

What did you notice the most in the demo?

Absolutely shocking AI.
Poor Frame Rates.
Lots of Aliasing.
Forced music and driving aids on my initial lap.

Less understeer, better overall physics but still felt similar to GT5 with minor improvements.

Loving the loading times and how the game runs.

Hating how they made little to no effort on improving the terrain textures.

And it feels better, gameplay/sim wise, they did tackle the suspension issue accordingly.

The visual improvement both in terms of graphics and UI are much more of an improvement than I thought they would be.

the map is shocking, no sense of depth with it to me, id rather it kept gt5's birds eye view one. but otherwise so far i found that:
Autumn ring mini's braking points are still the same,
Traction control really seems to do stuff all,

You can change that. If you press start in the main menu and click options, you'll find what you need there. I think the track map is under display.

Yo only have your real name because its GT academy.

+ Waaaay better looking Autumn Ring (it looks great)
+ Silverstone at 5PM looks nice (full lap with 370Z)
+ Overall lighting is great.. even better than in the GT5
+ Medium/high speed driving is great
+ Body roll and weight shift while driving are very nice
+ No more low resolution smoke/dust
+ Better shadows in TPP cam (but still worse than in GT5: Prologue)

- Terrible framerate when there's smoke on screen
- Overall bad performance on Autumn Ring
- Low quality and VERY low resolution shadows with in-car camera
- "new physics engine" is a lie.. it's still the GT5 engine (which I bet is based on GT4s physics engine) with all of its flaws, just with some modifications
- Still TERRIBLE low speed physics

Positive:
I love the new menu system and the loading times. everything is so fast and responsible.
The new physics are great, even with the DS3 controller I can feel every single wheel and the wight shifting of the car.

Autumn Ring looks awesome so much new details, raining leaves, jet trails, birds and a nice warm lighting. Also we got the best rendition of Silverstone in a game I have seen so far. (and yes I've played Iracing).

Negative:

The shadows, oh my gosh the shadows... especially in the cockpit view the shadows are just awful. Also lots of flickering and framerate drops. I hope PD can fix those issues till the Full release.

Pro: Very detailed ( birds in the sky, inside of the car is better, better terrain textures (still not THAAAAT good),...)
NEW PHYSICS MODEL... AWESOME
Autumn Ring looks so great, so does Grand Valley...
The new menu is beautiful and fast, nearly no loading time.

Con: Poor AI, still some of the old sounds as placeholder...

I can't say very much about the fps because I am playing it on a 20-year old fat screen, so my playstation GPU does not have to calculate very much...

+ body roll
+ physics feel tighter
+ drafting effect reduced
+ streamlined UI

- Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan
- no damage (just hiding it for all the wrong reasons)
- still poor crash physics
- Nearly impossible to spin AI out (I did once after 5 mins of trying)
- slow AI. so so slow
- inconsistent visual quality (Grand Valley barriers look worse then Autumn Ring's)
- trees look weird at times
- Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan
- grass stretches in the wind as cars drive by
- no AA so lots of flickering
- framerate less consistent in cockpit
- framerate drops at certain areas of the track even in 3rd person
- low res terrain and grass behind barriers
- Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan Nissan
