What does everyone here do for work?

Currently trying to find some sort of job for the short-term to drum up some cash while also trying to figure out what I truly want to do.

Fun fun fun.

I thought about going into IT, but realized it would be a very bad idea. While I'm a very patient person, I'm highly intolerant of ignorance.

I'd end up strangling some poor dip**** user.

If you're intolerant of ignorance you might as well give up working now tbh.

My situation has changed somewhat since the last part. No longer a student (\o/), will be going in to Hotel Manager apprenticeship within the next month or so and do various bits of work for a game developer, from AI to techie support to advertising, yeah, welcome to the world of an indie developer where we all work from home.

I'm currently a typically broke business and law student at Casio's university so my job, I guess, is pushing pencils great distances and wrapping my head around things for a negative salary.

When the holidays end I hope to get a job volunteering at the RSPCA. My job would entail cleaning and readying animals for adoption - something that is sure to leave a smile on my face every hour I do it (especially if the subject to be cared for is a baby kitten/puppy). :)

I fix flying buses...
AKA regional airliners known as Embraer ERJ-145's for a small airline that got bought by another small airline, of which both of us have contracts with two big airlines that recently merged into one huge airline...
lol, try to guess what airline :P

After seven years as a copywriter, I changed lines of work and became an art director. I worked the last 3 years as one, until three months ago, when I went back into copywriting.

Oh, I work for Ogilvy
If that is the same Ogilvy, you all are one of our clients.

We do media research for PR and marketing.

It's the same Ogilvy. We're just part of the Latin American hub, but it's still the main company. Part of the WPP group. We handle the advertising for many countries aside our own, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Bolivia.

Nightshift. Some people may call it a 'job', but for me it's called 'messing about for 9 hours 4 nights a week to help pay my bills.'
The place I do this fun activity is in a well known supermarket chain.

Fixed. :sadtruth:

Nah, I've got a job where I rarely have to talk to anyone, there's no supervisor and I work alone. As long as I do my job and do it well, nobody bugs me at all.

I work in hospital administration managing an interactive patient care system and other technology related things that aren't clinical. It's a good job that pays well, I'm pretty happy with it.

Tattoo Artist. My father has done it for nearly 20 years so I've been around it all my life. Because of that my entire childhood was sort of my apprenticeship. I knew how to do everything BUT tattoo by the time I was 15. I've been committed to actually tattooing for the past 2 years and feel I've come a long way, and I'm looking forward to being able to say I've been doing it for 5, 10, 20 years hopefully. Ink work.

Pretty kickass. I quickly drew this up the other night with pen and my one friend thought it'd make a cool tattoo. Since you actually do this kind of stuff, what do you think?

As for me, I'm a Machine operator for large car company supplier. Pays the bills you can say.

Well I'm a student by day and an undergraduate research assistant when I'm not in classes? It doesn't pay much, but at least it DOES pay a little, it's flexible, and is (somewhat) related to my degree.

I work in a supermarket stocking shelves all day - been there since April 2007. :) Not the greatest pay, but have cool workmates and the job itself isn't too bad, so staying put for now. Might be a storeman job opportunity soon which i might apply for, but unsure yet.

Nothing (atm). I'm unemployed since July. It's hard to find a decent job here.
Used to be Auto parts seller @BMW before my fixed-term contract ended.

knowledge helps as a salesman but its not everything.. You can sell when you dont know much just by being very confident and being able to use common sense, however to be a great salesman you of course need some knowledge.. on the other hand ive seen guys know more about computers and technical side than i ever will yet they lack the sales and communication skills and i end up selling almost twice as much as them.

Sales is an interesting and challenging job hehe, i must say i enjoy it a lot.

I used to work as a computer salesman in the mid 90s. I wasn't very good since I tended to try to sell people what they needed instead of what they wanted.

I go to school and do chores at home. Workplaces seem to not hire high school students anymore .

Sure they do - you just have to work at either McDonald's or Sobey's:ouch:... at least in my town...:indiff:

But I decided that wasn't for me and did babysitting all through high school. The logic behind that was questionable at times, but usually it was rewarding, and they lived right across the street, so it was convenient. I'd probably take that over fast-food even though I only made $5/hour since I don't spend too much money usually.

I'm a Sales Rep for an LED display manufacturer.

We have built more than 70% of the large Spectaculars in Times Square in the past 5 years. Signs like: Forever 21, Walgreens, Aeropostale... They're truly amazing feats of engineering, art, and technology - if you've been there, you know what I'm talking about.

As an aside I also rep for a fitness company (videos, supplements, gear, apparel) in my spare time...
