Firstly, that's rubbish. I don't actually think the job market is too bad at the moment, there is still work out there, but as usual people won't do jobs that are "below" them.
Secondly, how is theft funny?
There is still work out there, yes, but most of it in my area is for managers positions and everything else that pops up is for door to door sales. I'm not doing that simply because I feel it's wrong to invade people's privacy . I'm hoping to get the job I applied for as a photography assistant though.
Not sure why I put the laughing icon but the reason for taking the cash was that they failed to pay us on time for 3 months running and then closed the shop without written notice which I'm told is illegal. So we took the safe float and the takings for the day (Which isn't a lot, it was a tiny store) and the rest of the money (everything we took from before that day) is going to the administrators. Otherwise we'd all be fairly skint running up to Christmas!
One of the guys who works for the store used to work for Fopp when they got shut down and the same thing happened. It's still in court to this day, since there was no written notice given.
Depending on where you work the administrators/liquidators will still come after any employees who they can prove have stolen money. I just hope your store didn't have CCTV as any financial organisations who have money owed will be looking to reclaim as much as they can.
I saw a very well know toy shop in London go abruptly into liquidation, employees stole £1000's of pounds in stock and they were in court two months later paying it all back.
There's no CCTV, it's been explained above. I wasn't there when it closed but one of the guys did try and take some stock but was told not to by the security guards who were escorting them out (it's an airport store).
They basically took very little. The administrators are still getting all of the takings from the store.
I was hoping it was a joke. If not, I think I know why the business closed.
You're telling me you'd let the administrators sack you without any notice and leave you skint in the run up to Christmas? The stock has been taken by the airport since the regional managers refused to pay the rent, and the takings have been taken by the administrators.
The shop never had any stock or money go missing when it was open, the reason it closed was because the managers refused to buy any stock to sell. I have no idea what their thinking was behind that but there we go.
