What does everyone here do for work?

I'm unemployed as of today!! Goodbye crappy minimum-wage job!

As of Monday, I'm starting some courses at a marine trades college, which should dump me out in the middle of March. That's when the marine industry (huge in my area) is going to be hiring for the season and beyond, and for a good sight better wage than what I've been making.
Good for you! 👍 Anything to improve your job skills and move you beyond minimum wage is a great thing.

After a so so year of pretending to be self-employed, I'm starting as Sys Adm again on turdsday the 15th of February...

Right now I'm an unemployed college student, it's awesome.

I've had lots of odd jobs though. For the past few summers, I have been part of the paint crew in my local school district, we basically go around to the 4 elementary schools and the high school in the area and paint whatever needs done (classrooms, hallways, trim, etc.) Normally painting is incredibly boring, but since we supervise ourselves and are very fast and efficient in our painting (last year one of the principals offered to pay us to paint his entire house he was so impressed), we have plenty of time for fun.

I worked for a bagel shop until a few weeks ago when I quit, I hate serving the rich snobby customers in our area.

However, not too far off in the future, once I finish college, I plan on being a secondary english teacher, and then from there move on to my ultimate goal of teaching in a college or university someday.

Am a Legal Secretary at a Law Firm here in NZ for 6 Solicitors (including 1 Partner) We mostly deal with Maori land claims.

I did not have any secretarial qualifications when I got this job! Just learnt as I went along, so was really lucky to get it! I started out as the office assistant and have held my current position for a year and 3 months and am really enjoying it!

Good for you. 👍 I don't know about New Zealand, but over where I live, you have to often move on(to another company) to get a raise, or get a promotion. I wish more companies let you move up within the company.

P.S. Welcome back. Hope to see some posts from you in the Movies&TV Section. :)

That's quite an achievement!

Which did you enjoy the most?

Still stacking shelves in Tesco. Might look around for a new job though, the hours really, really suck and there's little chance of change.

Is it true that any faulty foods, you can eat?

Propably the computer assembly line manager. Really liked the company (worked there as a salesman also) but unfortunatly it went bust.

An other "odd" thing is that the job with the most pay (arounf 3000€/month) was the one that I hate with every inch of my body. Did it for couple of years, and the construction job after that (with salary around 1000-1500€) felt like heaven.

I'm a Production Engineer using CADCAM to write CNC programs to manafacture engine components used in big V12's. Its interesting but stressful work. I've been at my Firm for 22 years.

Tadaa! I did take a huge risk resingning from my last workplace, but yesterday got the news to make it worth while.

Starting on monday with a new job. Doing exatly the same work as before with better pay, steady 8:00-16:00 workhours (last place had 3-shifts) and a much better company. :) I'm so happy.

I work tech support. Computer systems at car dealerships. Please note that I am posting this at 1:30 in the morning. I'm the on-call tech this week, and tonight has been full of problems at two of our larger clients, so I've been on the phone with field techs for the last few hours. Fun, fun.

Well, I guess it's time for a bit of an update.

The trades college went fairly well, although it was not as in-depth as I was expecting. It was a four-week course that, for all intents and purposes, was a pre-employment primer for the marine industry.

I had multiple job offers in the third and fourth weeks of the course, so I did a bit of job-shopping (Quite fun, actually. You can be choosy about who you go to and, to a certain extent, define some terms you come on). I Ended up at a local boatyard with an excellent reputation. I've been started as a marine electrician, although I'm not sure if it's where I want to stay. It's only been a week, but I've got a couple ideas of where in the company I would prefer to move to. However, because we're super busy right now, I'll stick with being an electrician for now.
Job environment is OK, but not great. Every day I've been stuffed into tiny, confined spaces trying to run wires or remove them (Which is often harder, or so it seems). It can get quite cool in the mornings as you're working on a boat in the water, but it's to be expected with the job and should be alleviated as the weather warms up. It's a fairly big company, as far as boatyards go (I believe in the area of 75-80 employees) so it's alot of people to try and remember, but I'll get used to it.
But one of the best parts is the pay. I'm getting a very nice benefits package ontop of a wage that is 65% better than my last job. While it doesn't amount to anything spectacular, it should allow me to live much more comfortably and start saving for flight training a couple years down the road.

Just started working at Starbucks. Wow, they take care of you there. Great wage and a whole lot of free beans. I'm talking 5 free coffees a shift and a pound of free coffee a week.

I am a Business Development Manager for an Investment Company. Basically I spend my days looking for up and coming businesses that need investment to grow to the next level or old established businesses that need new management or more capital to expand or recapture market share. Most investments range from $250,000 for seed funding up to $10 million for something more serious.

I work for an investment bank. My clients are hedge funds and other asset managers. I develop and promote business building solutions and wealth management products designed to fit their immediate and long-term needs.

Yes, there is. I work for a company nobody has heard of, in a city where nobody has been, making a mysterious white powder (for a very decent wage). I expect many IRS audits in the future...

I work at Haig's of Rochester, a jewelery and antique store. I'm the internet sales manager.
