What Does the Gran Turismo Logo mean?

Jenkins.

It's Jenkins:

I always thought as a kid it was Gr XD . I latter found out it was GT , but for a while I thought it was GR, I mean its so good Forza copied it , FM, and need for speed made there own lil logo.. and now drive club.. DC

Yeah because abbreviating your name in a logo was first done with Gran Turismo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Red and Blue of the GT Logo supposed to represent A-Spec and B-Spec? I recall Yamauchi-san saying that somewhere but who knows where.

You are correct on that, I remember something of nature. B-spec was first introduced in GT3 correct?

The design style is scary similar.. Drive club is one D with the broken silhouette of a c , were as Gran Turismo is a G completing a t , Forza had an F completing an M... its a straight rip with different letters. I'm not Talking about the abbreviation, they could have made a badge or something , but they went turismo ;)

Possible, though the colours would then predate the inclusion of B-Spec by about 7 years.

Or, as any decent graphic designer would tell you, it's a very common approach to logo design in any field. Of course, people will always let their biases speak for them.

Back in GT2, I believe the Arcade disc was red and the GT mode disc was blue. Or the other way around, haven't played it for 12 years...

That GT logo you've found has some cars that are in GT6. O.O

Really? All I've seen was that every other black car had a number 2 on it, and there was that one special Citroen that probably the artist snuck in there to fool us...

Perhaps it's just a styling change? I doubt it really means anything beyond that.

Re-branding. No artificial colourings. Meet the new logo: same as the old logo.
Et c.

Anyway, the logo being a foretelling of the coming of Jenkins is clearly the runaway favourite theory at the moment. It's just so obvious and full of sense. :dopey:

So how long have you been playing the series?:odd::sly:

Um, not to long actually, but the first game I got was GT3 for my PS2, and I fell in love, back in 2011. Then my friend had GT4, gave to me, and again I fell in love. I finally got a PS3 on Christmas, I got GT5, I loved it.

By "The red and blue GT logo", I think he meant those two skewed red and blue squares next to each other above "Gran" (they're white now for GT6).

AFAIK - the 'red and blue' came from Nissan's 'Red Stage' and 'Blue Stage' marketing strategy - Nissan being somewhat involved in the early productions of the game. Or maybe that's just a coincidence. ;)

The 'GT' part goes way back to the Lancia Aurelia B20 - pretty much the first real Grand Tourer - a.k.a. a car that can transport people at great speeds long distances in comfort.

Ideal combination of symbols if one was to make a grand touring driving game connected with Nissan, don't you think?

However - it seems that other automotive makers may have wanted that whole shtick reconsidered and so the red and blue has to go.
