Ah I'd love to play this game. I wish you can download PS3 games on the PS5.
I know Ridge Racer 2 is returning for PS4 and PS5 pretty soon, so I'm holding on to my dream that more Ridge Racer games will be available for Playstation Plus subscription or purchase sometime down the line. Our world really needs any Ridge Racer it can get.

Since my last post, I've played and finished:

Trek to Yomi - A beautiful game, with a great atmosphere. As short as it is, it does get a bit repetitive and the combat can be frustrating.

Tell Me Why - With LiS: True Colors recently added to Game Pass, I thought it was a good time to finally play this. Typical DONTNOD stuff.

In the meantime, I also tried to play the following games (but never really finished them):

FAR: Changing Tides
TUNIC
Chinatown Detective Agency
The Wild at Heart

Just finished Binary Domain. For a game that commits almost every single cardinal sin there is in videogaming, I didn't completely hate it. It was pretty hard to get through the second half, there were a number of occasions where I told myself that if I died and needed to redo a particularly bad bit of the game I'd just quit and never come back, but somehow I never did.

Just redownloaded PCSX2 and it reminded me why the PS2 era of gaming will never be replicated. Currently playing:

  • MVP Baseball 2005
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
  • WWE: Here comes the Pain
  • Apex Legends
  • GTA: Online

Finally got Horizon Forbidden West.

Can games seriously get any better looking, it looks amazing on PS5!

Only 10 hours it seems like the perfect sequel so far, kept what was good from the first and improved the issue with the original, mainly the climbing and generally moving around the world.

Just hope the story is a good as the first one.

GT7 and due to an update, curiosity sent me back to AC:Valhalla.

Having spent 800+ hours, I guess there's more to be had.

I tried that new Roller Champions game yesterday since it's free to play andddd meh, can see what they're trying to do but it felt a bit boring to me. Maybe good for a quick Rocket League type blast of arcade fun but RL definitely the better idea.

Does make me long for a Speedball 2 remake though, that could be awesome if done right.

Picked up a cheap copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 for $12 from a local store and have been slowly getting into it. I'm enjoying the slow burn that the game seems to be compared to its stablemate GTA. A very interesting world full of cool interactions. For example I saved a man from dying from a snakebite. He thanked me and I moved on in the world not thinking much about it. A couple of days later I bump into him outside of a general store. He recognizes me and tells his friend about how I saved his life. He tells me to go into the store and any item is on him. Little things like that stand out a lot to me and make the world feel so much more immersive. Its brilliant.

I've also been getting into Ride. Its been a while since I played it so its taken time to adjust to cornering on a bike given I'm used to racing on four wheels with downforce (F1 ACC etc). Its a good challenge and I'm slowly improving race by race. Ride 3 is on sale so I'll be buying that next.

I have not touched any PC gaming in probably at least a month at this point. I have only been playing on the Switch and that has been somewhat sparingly. On there, I have mostly just been playing Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart. The recent addition of more maps has gotten me to play some more Mario Kart. I have also been playing Animal Crossing here and there, but not much. I recently picked up these:

They look kinda goofy, but they make playing handheld on the Switch so much better. I basically never played handheld on the Switch before these, but will be playing much more going forward.
Prior to the last few days, I had only briefly used the Hori Split Pad Pro. The last few days I have spent several hours playing the Switch handheld. It is a completely different experience with these. The Split Pad Pro is not as good as a Pro controller, but it is probably about as good as it gets for a handheld solution.
I have been playing Breath of the Wild almost exclusively. I have been wandering around the world collecting Korok Seeds, seeking out Shrines when the sensor goes off, and collecting materials for armor upgrades. At some point, I need to tackle the remaining two Divine Beasts and second/third Master Sword trial.

I am also following up to the use of the Hori Split Pad Pro. Other than lacking rumble, it is awesome for handheld use. I have played handheld much since getting it, but when I have, it has been tremendously better than using Joy-cons.

I played RDR2 a bit after I was gifted it for Christmas, but have not picked it back up since. Maybe once I get through this playthrough of BOTW I will pick it back up.

Was playing Kao the Kangaroo revival.

Immediate regret. The game struggles to function to the point its Autosave doesn't work several times and you will be sent back quite far because the Autosave wouldn't work. There is no Manual save either so you are at the mercy at what the game decides if you don't binge through the game. A bit of a shame as the platforming is quite nice and the bosses, while long are enjoyable. Didn't get to the final boss because the autosave glitch set me back to the third world and I just gave up.

Story is really bad, Voice Acting is the worst I've seen in any game. There's no emotion out of the characters when they speak. Characterisation is all over the place. I can't tell if Kao is an arrogant Hero or a righteous Hero, he keeps alternating between the 2. It gets worse when he interacts with his sister and they 180 their characters between 2 cutscenes.

New Super Lucky Tail is just a better version of this so if you want a niche platformer, I recommend playing that instead.

Sniper Elite 5 on SX, multiplayer, sniping only no cross game mode. (I hate these games on controller)
However I love sitting, waiting to see the muzzle flash or scope glimmer from another sniper & then prepare my shot & BANG.... I get a bullet in the head from another sniper that I didn't see.

Reminds me of the old Soldier of Fortune sniper only maps I used to play on PC back in the day, great fun.

Must hook up my keyboard & mouse to my SX though.

Soldier of fortune, brings back memories, gory fun.

Just started Webbed last night, it's good but not as good as I hoped; some of the objectives aren't very clear and while I might be doing it wrong, the physics-based moving of objects for the puzzles is a bit pants because you seem to have to string things up a lot to make them move.

Other than that I seem to just be playing Steam, I'm buying so many games at the moment and not getting through my backlog like at all. My Deck-specific backlog has ballooned to something like 250 games and that's mostly stuff I haven't played before, I'm sure there's a ton more I'd want to play again on a handheld (like MGS V for instance)...

Having a bit of fun with sw rogue squadron, fleet battles vs ai.
Yesterday, i did 1 match on the higher difficulty and was going to win it near the end pretty easily then it switched fast and lost.

Then today i did a few matches and it was harder, no wins i think.
I have a feeling the ai gets better as you get up in ranks perhaps?
Gets more advanced weapons etc, i don't know.

It would explain the just 2 difficulty settings.
All i read in the past is that it was crazy hard against ai even on easy.
But doesn't seem all that hard even on normal, as im just getting acquainted with it and managing pretty well.

In any case, pretty fun, cool feel with drifting and boost. Runs perfectly smooth and looks great on std ps4.

I'm gonna download Need for spped rivals, Dirt 5, Pinball Arcade, and F1 2016

Now F1 means formula 1 racing, I believe, right? What is that just racing in a formula car around famous tracks?

Back on sw squadrons, trying out more of practice mode now.
Selected x wing, and a mix of ties and reapers as dogfight enemies, on 1 below highest difficulty.

Seems harder than the fleet battles with ai.
There's 4 difficulties at least, like in story mode.
Wish they added them in fleet mode, weird.

It's a good challenge, each ship, yours and enemies have specialities, and different loadouts.
Makes it tactical a little.
Too bad no ai allies on this mode, be fun if you could ask backup, or help out.

Not sure if in fleet battles the ai can help if you select help me, or regroup. Hopefully they will make a sequel and add more options like this.

Plus fun to maneuver around on maps with debris, or big stations, etc, using boost drift.

Snowrunner because of the free PS5 upgrade

Same! And then I realised there was a DLC for the new Defender, so that was nice. Also playing Watch Dogs 2 that was only £10 in the sale on PSN. Over on Series X, I started Sniper Elite V. Love the X-ray cam so much.

I have been playing Grid Legends, and Dynasty Warriors 9 lately. Last night I played Avengers for the 1st time in a couple of weeks

Cyberpunk 2077, I’m working on getting the platinum trophy for this because it’s one of my favorites.

I turned off the minimap, job tracker and a few other things and it feels a little more immersive for me. But I wish there was a survival mode though, similar to what Fallout 4 had. Turning up the difficulty just makes the enemies feel like bullet sponges.

Diablo Immortal

Had some friends, who I haven't played online with in quite a number of years, get me to download it and we've been at it a good chunk of the day.

Have you played Diablo 3? If yes, how does it compare?

I played it when it originally came out back in 2012, but only for a little while. I went through one time on a character, then didn't play it, again. I like this better. I'm usually not a fan of MMORPGs, but if it's a a story I like and I can play with people I actually know in real life, then that makes it better. The only other MMORPG I've played is SWTOR. I usually stick to FPS or racing games.

I guess I will have to give Immortal a whirl then. I really enjoy Diablo 3 and will occasionally jump in and run some rifts.

Finished Webbed earlier, it was fine I guess but nowhere near as good as I wanted it to be which was a shame. Not sure what to move onto next, I have a touch of choice paralysis owing to the fact that I've got about 50 games installed on my Deck and I want to play them all. Maybe Paradise Killer or Snowrunner. Or A Short Hike? Or Lonely Mountains: Downhill? Or... Yeah, I have no idea. Would quite like to carry on with Spider-Man Miles Morales and Ridge Racer Type 4 too at some point. And Superhot: Mind Control Delete. I've also got DLCs for Outer Wilds, Cloudpunk and Wreckfest to play, too... And then scores of other games, both old and new.

Fixing to download the following on my ps4:

Pinball Arcade
Need for Speed Rivals
Rayman Legends
Dirt 5

Did I make some good choices, and are they fun to play? I've never played the Dirt racing series before.
