What games are you playing now?

Ongoing:
Diablo 2 - now at level 96, things are getting slower. As long as I dont fall asleep, dying is not possible
Dragon Age - Fun enough, but at the same time lacking. The classes dont feel quite right to me, the RPG elements do not feel well thought out, the explanation about the dagger is missing. But at least it plays well enough to not bother me too much so that I can still enjoy it.

New:
Hammerwatch 2: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! constantly crashing in multiplayer on PS5, no support by the developers.

Decided to go back and play Lego Star Wars The Video Game on PS2 again for the first time in a long time and beat the story mode yesterday. Now I am going back and getting all the minikits in free play and buying whatever I can as I go. Trying to get everything done in this game because I intend to play its sequel afterward and I want to have access to all of the first game's content with the use old save extra the game provides.

Having a lot of fun replaying this game, even if it wasn't what I originally had in mind.
Beat that game on Friday and got absolutely everything on there too. While getting all the extras was a bit of a boring grind, I still had a lot of fun replaying it for the first time in forever.

I then started on the game's sequel the next day on a whole new save game for the first time since 2007 and so far I am on the 2nd level to Episode V. I'm already having a good time with this one too and I plan to play it to completion as well. I am tempted to replay all the LSW games since that's been what I've been in the mood for as of late, though I am unsure how or if I'll replay the The Complete Saga since it's a bit too similar to the first two games I already played.

I'm always playing Final Fantasy 14, like it's my natural state now days. I play GT7 regularly, but not as much as I used to.

I just finished the Riku playthrough of Kingdom Hearts: reChain of Memories :banghead: :yuck: so I can finally put that crap behind me and move on to the next in the series.

And I just jumped into Final Fantasy 2. I'm surprised by the leap from the first game. I figured it would be largely the same gameplay with a new story, but there is so much expanded on in terms of leveling stats and what the characters can do. I'm not far in but it's already gotten heavy with loss and consequences. I can't believe the sympathy I'm feeling for little pixel sprite characters.

Made it to Icon 600 in The Crew 2 and unlocked the Ferrari LaFerrari LaFerrari LaF...

Worked out that Icon 650 will be the point where I've maxed all the "Perks" and can start to put every point after that into Bucks.

Game is still throwing cheap cars at me every time I login at 25% discount which eats up my earned credits

Done about 2/3 of the regular races now, going to pretend the Air Race doesn't exist...

Had a look at the Motorflix tab for the first time and realised there's a ton of stuff to do there when i finish the regular races.

Still have most of the skills and photo challenges to do. And the Stories. And then there's the Hobbies to work through.

At the rate I'm going, I'll still be working at this stuff in 2028

Also been playing some FM23 BMW Tour. And Not BMW Tour

You know, for some reason, I just haven't been able to get into Motorfest. Nor the other two Crews, for that matter. Yet, I enjoy TDU SC 🤣 I think it's got something to do with Motorfest's busy, convoluted UI (just my opinion)
It throws so much at you constantly. How about this race? Go to the central hub. How about this championship?

It's mind numbing 😴 Then it's got The Summit, where you're on a timer and in order to rack up enough "XP" you have to play the bloody thing daily for hours.
I don't think the whole boats, planes and other assortment of vehicle types helps in my case 😉 I prefer something to do one thing well, rather than trying to be a jack of all trades.

As for 2028, do you think Motorfest will still be playable and purchasable by then? 🤣 Looks like Ivory Tower can't wait to pull the plug on its online only games. Why not have the option of making it offline come EOL?

I don't know how to play poker at all. How do I learn?
I am happy to teach you. Bring cash though. 💵

-

There's a tonne of tutorials online, but the best way to learn is to play - maybe watch a couple of YT videos first though.

And... don't ever play for cash, especially online. Or with friends. 😅

Ironically, real poker does actually require cash/real collateral, because the gambling portion is a huge part of the game play. That said, swatting up on basic statistics and probability is a sure-fire way to improve your game, and I still love playing 4-5 poker hands against myself with a real deck of cards. Poker is an amazing genre of games, but gambling can also ruin it - that said, I know two poker pros and they are considerably richer than me. 😅

As I put in the Crew 2 thread, I only do each Summit race once or twice each week. That is enough to get me gold each week on Xbox. I'm deliberately NOT grinding those events for platinum as that is the absolute WORST and most BORING way to play these games.

My weekly Wednesday routine is:
Summit races (always done in order Icon points races first, go to profile and add the perk points, then back to Summit for $45k races).
Then I go to Activities and run some races in one category.
Then I do one of the Stories part way or fully.

That reduces the "busy" UI to bite size chunks, I agree that it throws a lot at you, but most of it can be ignored tbh.

Ivory Tower have said that both TC2 and TCM will have offline (presumably at EOL), but of course seeing will be believing.

I've just started playing Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders on Game Pass. Being an ex-MTBer I've already got Lonely Mountains: Downhill and the switch to snow makes sense.

I'm working my way slowly through Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Racing-wise FM2023, EA WRC and World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24. If you haven't tried Outlaws you really are missing something. It's not doing my posture any good though going round in circles all evening

We have been playing minecraft with my son for 3 days. There are 2 villages, everyone beautifies their own village. The villagers are also happy with this situation. ( PC - PS5 )

I can't get enough of Arma Reforger, I'm having so many laughs with just random players. I haven't enjoyed an FPS this much since Battlefield 4.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer (the new one), classic racer in a modern jacket. Loving the early access version so far, also considering they've only released about half of the total game right now. 👍

(And not playing GT7. :P)

Now, I'm playing NFS: Heat

This series is okay, but the cop chases can be highly annoying. They are fast at times and can bust you if you're not fast enough to escape. Frustrating at times, is anyone having the same issue? I try to hide behind traffic and buildings and they still end up finding me racing with the other opponents.

Early game cops in NFS: Heat is annoying with a not so powerful vehicle below a certain performance threshold. (Can't recall exactly how much or even the type of performance ratings they used. It's been a while since I last played NFS: Heat) Sadly all I did was "cheese" it by jumping up onto things to avoid the cops if you're able to. The best spot is the docks with the shipping containers, then they can't find you or get to you. It's not a fun way to play, but it certainly helps alleviate the frustration with them always finding you. Luckily once you get more powerful vehicles, it becomes a lot easier, but the best way to lose them is to jump up onto things. Wish I could give more details of it, but it's been (what feels like) a long time since I last played Heat.

Wouldn't mind playing it again, but for some reason I can't start up the game anymore on PC.

Three games occupied my attention and time this weekend:
  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, where I'm now around the 30-hour mark and with the endgame in sight.
  • Dungeons of Hinterburg, and I should be around the half-way mark.

And, since I'm rewatching Castlevania on Netflix I first tried the Castlevania Collection (it was cheap), but honestly, and in hindsight the gameplay of the games of the NES era is now abysmal when compared with Symphony of the Night, which I'm replaying. Incredible than in two more years it will be 30 years old!

How come Konami has never tried to remake the NES games with SOTN mechanics is beyond me and a completely lost opportunity.

I can't recall having too much issue with the cop chases? Generally racing games like that I tend to try to concentrate all my spending on one car during the main story/career.

At the time I was playing through it I few of my mates on XBox were also playing it and we had a few race/chase sessions together. The cross-platform works really well.

Well I'm gonna try the DIRT 5 and see if that's a better choice, one of my friends gave me a new copy a month ago, but I haven't opened it. But right now, it's time to and play a new game. NFS is too crazy IMO, it's suited for higher skilled players that have quick reflexes.

That's a pretty accessible game (and not too high speed), so hopefully you'll have a better time with it!

If you didn't take the hint at a certain point while racing at night they could get pretty tough to get away from in the sort of mid-game kind of level, before that I think most people knew their car wasn't up to much and late-game builds were a lot more capable, I definitely remember rage quitting a few times.

I'm on chapter 4 of Eastward, it's still holding my attention but I'd guess "not wanting to drop another game without giving it a fair shake" is probably 30% of the reason I'm still playing, I'm not massively drawn in by it but I don't want to move on to Yakuza Kiwami yet. I'd also like to go back to Rollerdrome, Chinatown Detective Agency, Lisa: The Painful and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk before I pick anything else up, but we'll see, that's a long list.

I've also just reinstated my VR system and spent far too long playing Take & Hold in H3VR last night. It's certainly not any easier than I remember, having last played in 2020. Definitely didn't help that I tried to play it seated (because I have nowhere to put my base stations so they they can see each other and don't have the sync cable either) and before long decided to stand up, but I couldn't stop myself physically turning around which meant occluding the base station several times which meant a complete loss of tracking in the middle of a firefight. It's hard to reload your gun when your right hand has warped about 20 metres to your left and your left hand is stuck in the floor.

Cant seem to find anything interesting to play on the PS5 at the moment so bouncing between the PS2 versions of Colin McRae Rally 3 and WRC 4 on the Steam Deck.

The PS2 era was the golden age of rally games for me, both these games are still so fun to play today.

PS1 and PS2 was the golden age of everything: a simpler time!
Agreed, games shipped complete and bug free and we didn't have to wait 5 years for sequels to our favourite games.

This is why buying a Steam Deck was great for me, emulation works great and I get to relive all the old classics with better graphics, so many PS2 games have aged so well, some PS1 games are a bit harder to go back to today though.
