What have you done to your car today?

I recently "installed" a new sticker....lol....:

and here a pic of my coupé with 18" rims and coilovers (adjustable in height and hardness):

I have to say I love more and more driving this car because it is so rare in my region!
How is it treating you for maintenance? That era of FIAT was notorious for it's lack of reliability.

Gave my Jeep the Euro treatment. :P

Figured out an electrical issue. For a couple months now, my lights have been flickering when going over bumps, but it was very intermittent, and about 2 weeks ago my subwoofer started sounding like crap.

Well today, the lights finally quit on my while going 70mph down a back road. Fortunately I found a place to stop and figure it out once and for all. Found a loose wire going into my fusebox. Tightened up the crimp for now, but I'll fix it later.

Got back into the car to leave, and discovered my sub also worked well again. Awesome.

Nice. I think I've got all my alignment/sway bar woes behind me. Toe control arm is still waiting to arrive at the shop, but I just send a payment for two sway bar end links with nuts and the bracket I needed. Also ordered four camber bolts from Tire Rack. Hoping to be back on the road later this week if the toe arm comes in...

Started reconnecting the suspension and other odd bits today. A few small parts I need to go to Honda for have to wait until Friday.

Finishing up the swap, I'm just going to pull an all-nighter in the garage. Currently re-researching the ECU pinout to make sure I get the VTEC, knock sensor and secondary intake butterflies plugged in right. I've also got the power steering line bolts here with me, I'm going to fill the hollow centers with JB weld, let that sit and harden 'til morning, then use them to plug the holes on the rack. Got tires earlier today, a full set of some very lightly used BFG all-seasons for just $80! Going back out to work here in a few, hooking up the radiator, pouring in the fluids, then probably walking down to Safeway for some premium - the half a tank of regular (87? damn it's been a while since I've seen a gas station) has been in there for nine months haha.

Wow, thanks for reminding me. I was looking into it a week ago and was told to leave a certain line open while plugging the other three. I'm not looking to have to constantly replace the rack! Forgot, many thanks.

But an update: the hood wont latch with the larger valve cover. It seems pretty hit-or-miss with H-swapped Accords, guess I'm one of the unlucky ones that has to stack washers on the hood bolts. Dorifto engine cooling ftw! I didn't get quite as far as planned, I fell asleep and was almost late for work. But really it's just oils, coolant, draining/filling the gas tank. and a friend's probably going to weld up the exhaust. Then the CEL code that will undoubtedly come on and delay me further.

Is it the frame for the hood that hits the cover?

If so, you could just cut off a part of the hood frame from the inside to make it fit.

Also, why does your rack have 4 lines going to it? Usually there's just two, and you loop them together, and just run a T fitting that goes up to a small reservoir of ps fluid. That way it's an open system and you can change the fluid every so often to keep things working smoothly.

'89 Toyota Corolla Sedan

3-speed Auto
0-60: 23.48 seconds...

:embarrassed:

Mine is slower. Last time I tried to do a 0-60 mph run in my truck, I ran out of road. It does the quarter mile before it hits 60...

Watched a truck run the quarter mile at under 60mph one time. Thinking it was a fullsize with a V8, even.

Two go to a vehicle speed sensor on the transmission. Not sure what for, I just looped those two lines at that VSS, as is popular. Got the hood to close with some washers to space the rear up. I've had this deep feeling over the last couple days that I had forgotten something. Went to pour the coolant in... yup, the heater hose connected to the head. Looks like a trip to Honda in the morning. How do you dispose of coolant and gas, btw? Parts stores wont take them. Burn the gas, and seriously dilute the coolant and dump it somewhere? Surely those potholes with the picture of a fish mean "Save the fish, dump your crap here."

This isn't today, but recently:

Replaced timing belt and pullies.
Replaced serpentine belt.
Took off timing belt, fixed timing, put timing belt back on.
Replaced radiator-to-heater core cooling hose, as the serpentine belt rubbed a hole in said hose.
Replaced plugs, wires, and ignition coil.

Because of the timing belt issue, I was out of a car for a good three weeks (I can only use the shop I work in on weekends, and nobody in town had a part I needed one week :ouch:). It feels good to finally have a working motor vehicle again.

Holy sidewall Batman! What are these going on, the Audi or a Miata?

Saturday I got my wheels and tires mounted and installed on the car, raised my front end a quarter inch, and got rid of some camber for better steering feel and increased flushness.

I'm going to post pictures here soon, and I'll get some opinions on the ride height. I really really don't want to lower it more because nobody makes roll center adjusters for my car, thus I can't fix my steering geometry. If they did, I would schlam it. Whatevs.

I need to rear wheel bearings. I also have a box full of bushings - Racing Beat toe-eliminator bushings, front LCA bushings, rear semi-trailing arm bushings, and hard rubber trans mount bushings. I figure that if I'm going to replace my bearings, I might as well do all the rear bushings, and if I'm doing rear bushings, I might as well do everything else. What a horrid job I have ahead of me.

Ah, I hadn't noticed that third tire in the picture...kinda wondered how you got all four of them in there.

Why not use the Corolla?

Tried to start it up today and she sounds ready, aside from the expected hard turnover. But because of a 7.5" gap in the exhaust before the cat (short dp, I think it's off an OBD2 car) it sounds like a top fuel dragster and smokes some horrible fumes like none other. Looks like I'm waiting until at least Saturday for a friend to come over and close the gap before I want to try again.

Video of said top-fuel-dragster-sounding car NAO.

I put my 1985 factory sway bar on the MR2 today. That's, like, antique!

I'll see if I can get a video with my digicam in the morning lol. Honestly, I wouldn't mind that sound every day, if only I had the power to go with the illusion of having a V8 Accord! There's actually a guy on CB7Tuner.com that fabbed an exhaust that exited behind the front wheel for track use, but could be closed off and routed out back for the street. That would be cool.

So I bought my Head Unit on eBay, and paid for postage etc, being sent by UPS. I have to go away to work, yea ok, I keep and eye on the tracking number to see where it is, and today it said "Delivered" and "Signed by Dr Front Door". So I rung my friend can got him to swing by and pick it up - nothing there. At all. OHHHH crap. So now, I have to wait till Tuesday before I can ring them (and abuse the crap out of them) and try and recover it. Crap service - normally they leave a note and you go and pick it up or get a re-delivery.
