What have you done to your car today?

Well at least the rear quarter looks shiny
Well, the whole car is very shiny minus the peeling roof and the bumpers I sprayed. Both of them had potential to turn out good, but due to various factor that happened to come into play during the painting of each one, they both turned out crappy. The front one has a bad color match and finish, and the rear has a good finish and match, but is peeling again.

Washed and used some spray wax product when drying. Came out pretty good.

That sucks - details? How'd it happen man?

I am about to fit up the fuel tank back in the car - my fuel pump arrived earlier this week and I fitted it last night. It was pretty easy, just had to fit the filter, mount it in the carrier with a longer peice of hose (supplied with the pump), cut the existing wires and crimp them on to the new fuel pump wires. Took around 10 minutes.

19 year old girl "changing a CD" swerved completely across the road. I dodged the head-on collision and got hit there.

Suspension must have gotten tweaked because the steering wheel is slightly off center to go straight now. Most people wouldn't notice it but I do. Wheel took some of the impact and it barely even damaged that, all the force went to the suspension and gave it a little bit of toe out.

I'll post better pictures in the morning...that was with the cop there and such, didn't know how much I could get away with.

Won't cost me a cent...That's going to be a tough repair though. Door sill has to be wrinkled too, might be more than just the door skin being destroyed. I'd just assume they write it off.

Helped my buddy detail his 330i, the thing was a mess from when he bought it and looked like it hadn't seen wax in years. Looking pretty good now.

Fitted my tank up yesterday, which meant I could fit up the battery and connect it - not a bad design if I do say so myself, everything just bolts up easily and it doesn't move :)
Here is a picture of it, the only thing I have to do is loom up the cables up to the box to make it look pretty:

I have installed the isolation switch in such a way that I can connect a pull cord to the handle and feed it through the rear of the vehicle with a handle on that to isolate it from the exterior of the vehicle, just for track duties later on, if it is deemed necessary.

I replaced the hood release latch and cable. The old hood latch was nearly seized and the cable had snapped. It wasn't a complex job, but it took a while to thread pull the grommet out, and rethread the cable and grommet through the firewall.

My hood release works now though!

Washed it, clay barred it and waxed it. Tomorrow I'm going to polish it and then work on cleaning up the inside.

Took out all of my stuff, except the radio, amplifiers and speakers, emptied the ashtray, and put the last of my can of oil into the engine. Will be the last time I mention my Golf in here. :(

MR2's tie rods are done. Seems to have fixed a steering problem. Awful alignment though, will have to play with that some more tomorrow.

The only play in them was from a bad steering rack internal bushing which was also replaced. You'd have said the tie rods were good if you pulled on them too.

Always sad to see an old car go, especially one that you're really connected to. I felt the same way with my Escort. :(

Anyone got any tips on removing windscreen wiper arms? Paints going on all mine so I figured I'd pop them off and give them a respray.

Plastic cover came off, nut came off, but can't get the damn arm off the spindle. Tried penetrating fluid, tried leverage, the car starts rocking on the suspension I've put so much force into it.

Have you tried this?

One end on the stud, one on the bottom of the wiper arm. Worked for me.

No, but still looks like a brute force effort. Gonna see if I can make a bearing puller/wiper arm puller out of an existing bearing pull or G-clamp.
