Installed a GPU holster for my 1080ti.

... I've just remembered something I was supposed to make. Oops! I've got a Zotac Amp Extreme GTX 1080 which weighs 2kg, I remember thinking I'd get the guys in the workshop to make me a little bracket for it but never actually asked them...

Check this thing out, it might help if your GPU is sagging. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076GYL25H/?tag=gtplanet-20 This is the one I got, but there are many others you can find in the "Similar Products" section. This thing works tremendously well and it's just $10. Takes about 5 minutes to install after some adjusting.

I wish I had a before and after pic.

Depending on how your GPU is sagging, this could help. He puts another screw into the brackets at the back to help support it.

I actually saw this video (I love this channel) and tried it myself. However, in my case, the GPU cables are adding a lot more weight, which resisted this method. This resulted on my whole card bending in an upside-down "U" kind of shape. the PCB, fan shroud and even the heatsink were warped. Just imagine the panic

Today marks two firsts for me. First, I successfully made an Android APK through a sample Godot Game Engine game. Second off, I successfully sideloaded an Android application. The game was a demo of a template provided by Godot. It played surprisingly well on two different devices I tested it out on. I was able to test it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A and my Google/ASUS Nexus Player. Only real problem I noticed was that the touchscreen buttons were on when tried on Android TV. And on a tablet PC, the touchscreen buttons could have been moved up so they don't appear hidden. Otherwise, I can really see what awaits should I successfully build a game for Android through Godot. The future is bright. I also tried to test this game out by sideloading it on my OUYA, but the farthest I got was a message saying, "there is a problem parsing the package" when I tried to install the game. The other two Android devices I used are at least Android 5 or 6 while the OUYA is on 4.1.2 "Jelly Bean."

At least this makes me realize what is possible should I successfully make a game using Godot. Once I get over a few quirks, I really feel more confident making something with this game than I have previously. I also am taking advantage of using cloud storage to be able to distribute my APKs for testing. For the OUYA and my tablet, I finally found some usage for one of my USB Flash Drives so that I won't need to download from cloud storage for testing/debugging Android games. I may have to rely on cloud storage for usage on my Nexus Player since storage is difficult to begin with on the Nexus Player. I may eventually want to replace my Nexus Player with the Xiaomi Mi Box, since it has better USB support and will still allow for decent Android TV development.

Only other thing I may try to figure out is how to use Godot without having to have Android Studio loaded at the same time even when I am not trying to export game projects to Android. If I can figure that out, I'll REALLY be happy trying my hand at game development.

I learned a little bit about UWP, or Universal Windows Platform. Apparently, it is to offer Windows seamlessly across a number of different devices. I heard of UWP when I found out it was one of a few different export platforms for the Godot Game Engine. I don't know anything about UWP, but I at least exposed myself to UWP today.

Decided to play around with pretty colours. The software is so glitchy, but I had the patience. Only thing missing is that there's no Fn key in the program... So can't change the colour of that one, which is a bit odd and confusing. Also I still havea hard time getting this phone camera to cooperate at least a tiny bit.

I've been relegated to using my PC with the TV as my girlfriend has decided enough is enough and she needs a desk - we only have room for one, so naturally she's got my desk. I'll miss the G-Sync of my PG279Q (which I'll have to pack up for now) but at least we've got a nice Samsung UE40MU6400, it's actually pretty good for gaming on (which is mainly why I bought it, for my PS4 Pro), obviously the thing I'll miss the most is using a good mouse - I've got a Logitech K400 Plus wireless keyboard with a trackpad and while it's decent, it's not for gaming on (obviously). I would look into a Corsair K63 wireless keyboard with the lap... Thing, but this is only temporary until we've moved out. No idea how long that will take though, probably months. Still, it could be worse, our last TV was awful.

Got it yesterday and started installing my games on it overnight.

It's a midrange HP Omen with a GTX 1060 3gb inside and a terabyte HDD.

Not on the carpet please.

It attracts the dust, cockroaches and other nasties.
It's on the third floor, so the latter two aren't relevant. I was thinking of repurposing the little stand on my desk in my room for it, but...Not sure if it's big enough.

Installed Windows 98SE on that old machine.
PIO mode FTW.
Took an hour to do.
Need to get the video drivers for it, which I can get since I have downloaded them but since I have no USB2.0 flash drives I have to find another way to get them installed, rather not burn a CD just for video drivers.
Need to see if I have an old USB 2.0 flash drive somewhere as USB Mass Storage Devices should work under Win98SE.

Trying to find a new, simple video editor to make time lapse videos.

Windows Movie Maker for W7 was easy and just worked. It was removed for W10 so I'm doing some playing around with alternatives.

If you use the wayback machine you can still get the software to install WMM on windows 10. that's what I did.

@Obelisk @nowcontrol

If you're interested, here is one of the three time lapses I put together yesterday. One shot at the top of the hour from 7am to 5pm starting September 1 up through the end of last month. I haven't grabbed June's images yet.

It looks much better full screen.

Thank you again for the assistance. 👍

Did a lot of research on the PSP on how to fix a button issue I have had for years now that prevents me from setting the date. So I watched a video on how to take it a part, but sadly I had no luck. However my research indicates I may just have to replace the button ribbon cable and I hope that is the case, however I fear the flash may be corrupted and I may have to just buy a new PSP. :indiff:

A few days ago, my GPU started acting weird - the fans wouldn't activate until the card temperature reached 55-ish°, even if I manually set the fan speed in MSI Afterburner or AMD WattMan. It seemed to have happened out of the blue, I didn't have any driver updates or any major Windows updates. I hadn't touched the card in months, either.

Anyway, I removed the card and cleaned the fans (along with the rest of the PC), and tried putting the card in a friend's PC. His PC didn't seem to want to POST with my card plugged in, so I put it back into my PC... and it started working again. Everything went back to normal, as if nothing had happened. Computers are weird...

Well after a UPS battery failure I had to re login everywhere,
Of course couldn't been so simple to replace the battery when the model of your UPS is discontinued.
Also it was due for a new one anyways. (But since it's Sunday not many places are open of course)
So hopefully no severe storms until the new one.

From my previous posts about that old Deskpro.
I retr0brighted the front panel.

Before, it was more yellow than what you see in the pic

After, color is more accurate in this one.

I used a small amount of 50% Hydrogen peroxide
And a 2 tablespoons of powdered gelatin that was mixed in.
Applied a layer with a paint brush, covered with plastic clingfilm wrap

Done two applications since it is winter, and not all that sunny ATM.

If this was done in summer, could've gotten better results.

Replaced my Razer Blackwidow Chrome v2 with a Logitech G613 Wireless Mech. Keyboard.

Couldn't deal with the noise the Razer Green switches (similar to Cherry MX Blue) produced, not to mention a weird LED glitch, where some of the keys on the numpad would turn to a different color and then suddenly switch back to the pre-determined color.

Very happy so far with the Omron (Romer-G) switches, very early actuation point, which certainly takes some getting used to, coming from 2 Cherry MX and 1 Razer switch keyboards, but I like it, and most importantly: it's quiet. Like membran quiet, while still retaining the same feel and clicky-ness of a mechanical switch! Let's see how I cope with lack of backlighting.

I noticed something that only seemed to impact Firefox today. When searching on Google, something hijacks the browser and linked me to Bing. It only impacted Firefox from my experience. It didn't impact Edge or Vivaldi from my tests. Also, I think it only impacted when trying to search on Google with Firefox. I could reset the browser or something. I know not of any suspicious programs loaded on my PC that may have been added. Or I may think about getting rid of Firefox. Crazy to say... I am almost wanting to give Chrome another another chance. I say "another another" because I completely was DONE with Chrome and trying to fiddle with it and make it work. I gave it another chance several times and ended up being dissatisfied with Chrome. I then thought about having Chrome as my secondary browser, but only for possible game development in HTML5 or Flash.

I tried something to see if there is a way I could enhance the WiFi for my Nexus Player. So what I did was disable WiFi on a device I seldom use (my Amazon Kindle). This was merely experimental. I may eventually get a Xiaomi Mi Box to replace my Nexus Player.

Windows 10 is your issue.
Microsoft overrides your default browser, doing this seems right up their alley
