''What if?''

The biggest 'What If' is whether or not the game will release AT ALL.
Gran Turismo 5 will certainly be a fascinating case study for marketing well into the century.

If we were going to start bemoaning Group B cars missing from the game, the BX 4TC certainly isn't where I'd start. Although if I were rich I'd sure be tempted to try to re-create one.

But if we're talking Group B 'what if' scenarios, I'd like to have versions of some of the rally prototypes that were scrapped in '86 to match up against the cars we do have. What if Group B hadn't been abandoned for safety reasons.

Yeah the what ifs for things like the BX4 TC and I think if my memory serves me correctly the Citroen Visa 1000 Pistes and the Toyota 222D i also think plus other things that i cant think of off the top of my head

I don't think we'll be talking. We'll just be playing.

However, I am sure negative Nancies will be here complaining about something!

This game is alright because I don't know what quality is and have no clue about coding!

Taken from the Dutch TV magazine Veronica:

'Create your own special events: Not part of the Special Events, but an important extra option is to create your own special events. Sony call this “What if” experiences, like the X1 prototype and concepts cars from the seventies. Players not only can recreate races from the past, but rewrite racing history!'

So we now know that we can create our own special events and races, and ''What if?'' situations, what sort of event do you plan on making?

I would love to recreate some DTM races, from the 190e 2.5-16 and E30 M3 era.

👍

But for that to happen, the E30 M3 needs to be in the game first! Which i have not seen any confirmation yet for the past 4 GT games :ouch:  :indiff: :ill: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

I have been waiting for the sole car E30 for 3 GT games already, still no sign of it... Kaz and PD are making another mistake if they dont release that BMW.

Right now, the only game we can play with GT5 is "what if" ... How sad? :dunce: :nervous:

I'd love this. Recreating (or creating, depending on how you look at it) the Group S cars that were supposed to follow on from Group B until it got binned. The only car I can remember is a Lancia S4 varient that had 600bhp+ in a sub 800kg, 4wd carbon fibre monster. Sadly, it wasn't to be. Hopefully this feature will let if happen, all be it virtually!

Edit: Here's an article about the car, a Lancia ECV Group S: http://homepage.virgin.net/shalco.com/lancia_gp_s.htm

Ooooh look at that 222D mmm I fear i may have just had a trouser accident lol, But yes both Group B and Group S I would love, we could then see how the rallys would have panned out if the championships hadn't been cancelled

Hard tuned Japanese FF cars V Australian & North American muscle cars.

I hope we are able to race against a grid of our own cars in arcade mode, also fingers crossed you can place them in your GT mode created event. Always got bored racing against stock cars in arcade mode.

What if we could have all the old Group B and Group S cars instead of 50+ Nissan Skylines

Edit: Frothing at the mouth over all them prototypes :P

the endless possibilities boggle the mind.

My favorites would be Group A stars. Delta, Celica, STI ver I, Evo I, RS Cosworth.
Battle of the sport wagons, 70's , 80's, 90's cup.
Supercar shootout, drift masters

etc. etc.

Im loving the ideas from this thread, I especially like the Group B rally Ideas, heres to hoping the Audi quattro comes to GT5 not only as the version from GT4 but I want to see the SWB and also the group B rallly variants.

The SWB Rally variant being the S1 ;)

What if GT5 was released tommorow? :grumpy: I could have been playing it, TOMMOROW! out of all days. It seems so soon. But. No.

No, it's not. I will be released this year or early next year....no doubt.

GT5 will not even make more than a mention in ANY marketing class. If it does, it will be because the marketing was effective. Look how many are ranting about wanting it NOW. Seems to be pretty effective marketing although it is undoubtedly frustrating for the consumer.

Not exactly the WAY you want to treat your customers, but there is a buzz about GT5 that many titles could only hope for.

Well yes, but I mean the S1 aswell as the road going SWB.

The road going SWB is definitely in my top 10 garage somewhere.

In that case ill let you off haha Would be a nice addition i must admit but if the rally car was going in more than likely going to be the road version would be included anyways :)

"What if"
What if there a tsunami that over takes japan and destroy everything tomorrow ?
What if there is no gt5 release this year? Would that change racing history?

If a tsunami hit all of Japan you would still just think of GT5 and if it were still coming lol. They really did make a huge cult fanbase with GT. I'm one of them.

what if KY was just spending all the advance mony from polyphony/sony on fast cars and nights out and the game was never coming.......

god i want it so bad it hurts!!!
