what is one thing that you don't like about GT3?

the one thing that I don't like about GT3 is the fact that the cars do NOT slide like in real life. Except the time when I put simulation tires on a stock AE86:cheers:

theres no nurbergring. Which is a shame.

And the speedo is in kmph, and im used to mph so thats REALLY annoying, is there some way to switch it to mph?

I started with GT3 so the lack of cars didn't bother me. There's still plenty I haven't driven yet. GT4 gained as many useless cars as the good ones. And really, how many variants of Skylines, Evos, Imprezzas, and Sylvias does the game really need? They could use a first generation RX-7 though.

Best point so far,GT3 was/is a great game some stiffer competetion from AI cars would be good.:)

I don't think there is, unfortunately.

It's easy to say what what you wish there was more of. More tracks, cars and tuning options would be sweet! Duh! Hell, if you had 1000's of cars and hundreds of tracks, you'd still want more after drivin on them for a while. That's always how it will be. But, a few more tracks would be better. I think the car count is good, and the tuning is also good. Just a track or two more would be nice, though! -kevin

The one thing I don't like about GT3 is that it just felt like a really big tech demo. It... lacked a lot of stuff, like cars and tracks.

Oh, and on Smokey Mountain, I think it is, why does my cars' front end always rise when I jump that hill at speed? Broken physics or have I discovered the secret to take-off?

Which car are you talking about? Cars that have poor front-end aerodynamic groundforce won't be "pointed" back to earth as fast as those that do have a front-end spoiler or something.

I believe this is about GT3 psyhics..
If you've ever taken a bump/"jumper" in sledge and been airborn for awhile you are
familiar with the term "lift" or upwards weight shifting.

This is mainly the thing happening when you take the bump/jump in high velosity at GT3 rally.

the reason for front end to point up instead of down is somewhat related to direction of movement before jump.

forward--up ->weight is transfered to the front and thus causes the front end to be launched upwards.

this also makes it possible to do 360 with a waterglass witout spilling the water.

Weight shifting ^^

Goodness me, people here certainly are helpful.

Even with tweaking, my Skyline R34 always tried to do a backflip when I approached that drop at speed. I just always wondered why a front heavy car would keep the back-end on the road.

You're driving an ordinary R34 for dirt tracks? :boggled: Yikes!

Come on, we've all gone crazy in GT one time or another! :) I can probably say that everyone here has at least driven around a track backwards into the opposition one time or another >_>

I've never driven a track backwards against Ai, but i have done other stunts. Like i just watched a replay yesterday of me in a Viper doing donuts at Grand Valley in some race while the rest of the Ai ran off. They were all slow cars. Anyways, after like 30 seconds or so, i finally take off! I caught up to them as the first lap ended, and zig-zagged between all 5 Ai as i went up the straight!

I like to drive backward for 1 lap, then turn around and see if I can catch up and pass the AI cars. On topic, yes the AI is horrible mindless drones. Plus you can't get 100% completion (rumor has it this is because the drag racing was removed...?) plus you can't do a racing modification to a street car like in GT2. Otherwise it's fantastic, I like it better than GT4 (they messed up the car handling & physics, I think).

Can't believe this assertion went unchallenged! 100% is achieved by, er, completing everything! :) Licenses, races, and Arcade Singles and Time Attacks.

If you are stuck at 99%, go carefully through your race histories and find the one event you didn't win - probably you have a silver or bronze in one round of a series race where you nevertheless aced the series.

about the first post, on that test, i got the SICKEST drift ever, i saved the replay too, i am sideways all the way around one turn, it diddnt say fail so i kept driving, and i got bronze. woot. lol

When you enter a 10 (or any series of race competition), and finish a race, you click on next to move onto the next race, but it does not tell you which course your racing at. You either need a good memory (which is sometimes lacking with me), or you need to write them down before you actually enter the whole series (which is what i do).

Kinda drives me nuts, but heck its my fav GT game, so no biggie.

I know.. It's not racing, or gameplay, but what I really dislike about GT3 is that once you finish a race, you press x, then a replay comes up, you press start, then up then x, then up then x, then you're finally at the bit for the next race, but you have to go to finish, then go to next race, then start.. Way too many buttons to press.

I didn't find that one so hard, really. It just requires a spot of throttle control. Bit trickier to gold - but nowhere near as much as the Skyline/Trial Mountain rock section ones.

I agree with the Skyline test on Trial Mountain took me forever to get gold in it. The only disappointment in GT3 otherwise for me is the lack of F1 cars on the PAL Version

My dislike on GT3 are 2 things

1. on pro races, no matter how conservative i drive my tires wear out much quicker than the AI who's using the same car

2. on pro races, it's much harder for me to compete against stock production cars than racing against race cars

The obvious question: which tires are you using, and for which races? It's possible the Ai is using harder tires than you are. 💡

On the other hand, I've found that I personally drive harder than the Ai, taking many turns under near-maximum pressure and stuff. Assuming me and the Ai are on the same tires, same car, same weight, I'll always wear my tires out before my opponent will.

I know you say you drive conservatively, but are you really driving as conservative as the enemy? Low tire squealing? That sort of thing? The Ai is programmed to stay within its tires' friction circle at all times; hence this is why they don't squeal as much or corner as hard as we can. Are you driving as conservative as they are at all times?

If there's one big fault PD has, it's the fact that tires don't last nearly as long as they should, even if we drive conservatively. A real-life set of soft-grade tires would last much longer than 3 laps, for instance.

there aren't many events i have trouble with this problem but the one that issues this problem the worst is the polyphony digital championship race. this event you can't tune or change any tires at all. I usually use the R34 V-spec II since it was quicker than any other JDM in the competition, but when i face up against the same car, it's really pushing the car to the limits and i'm really on the edge of trying to keep up with it's pace. the AI's tires wear out in 4 laps and mine's wear out in 3 laps. trying to drive conservatively makes my pace slower, i do try to keep the squeling at a minimum but it just looks impossible for me to do such a quick pace and keep the tire friction at a minimum

I love GT3 because it has the best ai out of the series (not saying much), and it was the first ps2 game I got (got my ps2 last Christmas with GT3 and GT4). The only things I have a problem with are that there are no used cars: no High Speed Ring, with this track in GT3, there would be no GT4 on PS2: no drag racing, come on Polyphony, at least put it in GT6: and finally no racing cars or real family cars: how much fun would it be to push a Chevrolet Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire to its limits, sure beats the hell out of driving a Corolla. My complaints are few, but my love for Gran Turismo will never die :).

Speaking in the sense of 2001, the cool original circuits exclusive to GT2 were taken out. Which is really bad, even to this day.
