what is one thing that you don't like about GT3?

Not in one, but close! Still I can't find GT3 in any of the stores near me.

Yeah i understand. There were some used copies of GT3 at GameStop back when i bought it, but i wanted a new one. So i remember going on a quest that lasted a few hours. Finally i wound up at Toys R' Us. New copy back in summer of 2005 cost me $19.95 or thereabouts.

This brings up an interesting question... I bought a copy of GT2 actually in part because of something you said a while back in another thread, PB - that it's the ultimate game for car enthusiasts - and you were right. The selection is IMMENSE.

Would you say it'd be worth picking up a used copy of GT3?

SPOILER ALERT--i dont want to burst any surprises, but then you may have already read what i'm about to post...

It's worth it. But be forewarned that a lot of cars you may have seen in other GT's are not here. :grumpy: Some tracks found in other games are also missing.

The racing? it starts off incredibly easy. There's only a handful of beginner's races that offer any real challenge. You can enter a stock Toyota MR2 or MR-S in the MR Challenge for instance; and with no qualifying blow the others away..it's ridiculously easy.

But the good news is GT3 gets more and more intense as you rise thru the Amateurs & Pro levels. :D There are lots and lots of races to conquer. The downside is there aren't as many tracks as you'll find in GT2 & GT4, so you eventually can't escape the "here we are again" feeling. :guilty: Some of the races (especially the ones at the Test Course) are tediously boring; after awhile i personally started to skip these cuz the game was starting to feel like a chore at some points. Also, the feeling of "speed" is weakest in gT3...you're rolling down a straight at 140 mph, yet it doesn't seem as fast as in other GT's. :(

But overall it's a good game. The graphix and physics are different from gT4...i think some of the tracks look better in GT3 than they do in 4 matter of fact. Drifting is top-notch in this game and easier to accomplish than in 4. I'll shut up now!

G'day all, greetings from Oz.

There are a couple of things I did not like about GT3 but I will only post one for now.

Graphics - although a quantum leap from GT2 I have to admit I did not like them. I particularly dislike the lighting effects on tracks such as Laguna Seca and Seattle. The Cars are very well rendered but the tracks and backgrounds just do not do it for me.

...come to think of it, the lighting is rather bad on those courses, but the long shadows cast by the scenery make it even worse. The cars may also look *ahem* 'too polished'.

I do not mind L/Seca but found Deep Forest too dark & could not see my lines at first . I might add it is now one of my favourite tracks.

My gripe is that you can have the A1 pinned against the wall on one side & he will come out of it & pass on the other side , does he go under my car? LOL
& I'm with Parnelli Bone

The only thing I really, really HATE is that CENSORED (sorry duke) rock at Trial Mountain. I crashed in there so many times, that my dad said:
That rock has your name or what?

Please avoid the swearing, even with **** in the middle. Thanks.

I have to agree with Morganhead here. Been doing the S-6 License test (you know, the one with the racing Viper at Laguna Seca) and I've noticed when you get to the first corner (AKA Andretti Corner) you have to feather the gas just right after you brake, or else the car will spin. For some reason, it seems like in every odd-numbered GT (GT1, GT3) the RWD/mid-engined-rear-wheel-drive cars seem to spin out when you brake. Is it because of ABS or something else? Because I've been replaying both games, and I've noticed the License test in both games feature Super License tests that are frustatenly tough.:grumpy::mad: I'll get into more detail in the GT1 Forum, (At some point) but in GT1 currently, the next-to-last Super license test (you know, the one with the Gritth 500 at Special Stage R11) I can't get past for nothing.

Can someone please tell me the truth as to why in every odd-numbered GT (GT1, GT3) the RWD/mid-engined-rear-wheel-drive cars seem to spin out when you brake? Does anybody know?

Thanks

I can't say that I've noticed that effect. If anything, I'd say that understeer in GT4 is grossly exaggerated.

I'd much rather have extra rotation on corner entry than have the car plow like a barge toward the armco.

I don't remember much of GT1 (except it was possible to donut in GT1), but GT2's cars had an exaggerated oversteer effect. Not Forza-style exaggerate, but still a little excessive. GT3 tuned it down, but made the cars too easy to handle - there wasn't enough of either. GT: Concept was similar but a little harder. GT4 Prologue had excessive understeer. Though GT4 has more understeer than is strictly necessary, the model is okay but turned up a bit too high. GTHD got a bit nearer to the mark and, from what I've played of the GT5 Prologue demo, the model is getting a lot nearer to reality.

I think I know the reason why RWD/MR cars spin out in GT3:

I was going though S-7 license test, and I noticed when you brake down to 1st gear, the wheels spin like they are coming out of the gate, and you need to release the throttle, (I use a DualShock2) or else the car will spin.

Have any of you who use DS2 have this problem? Because in GT4, this problem was fixed, and the RWD/MR cars were much easier to handle (meaning when you get into a hairpin turn, you can take it without releasing the throttle repeatedly).

I hate the S8 licence test , it sucks big time & I still have to find six seconds just to get bronze :ouch::ouch::grumpy:

Is that the GTone at Monaco/Cote d'Azur?

If so, use the manual transmission and never go below 3rd gear. This will help manage the wheelspin and you should actually be able to accelerate instead of just smoking the tires. Stay off the walls, which really slow you down. Just drive neatly and don't overdrive the car.

The X button should be pressure sensitive...

Also go to options to make use of analogs instead of the X and Square buttons.

Yep that's the one & as I drive auto wheel spin is my biggest problem . I never thought of trying manual gears for some reason even though I had to for other tests .. Many thanks I will keep you posted ..

Thanks again for your help Duke you sure know your GT3 .. I cant race in manual , but I only had to use 3rd & 4th gear which made it easier .
1st lap was a 1.39.8 2nd was 1.39.19 3rd 1.37.4 4th 1.34.4 & bronze was mine:):):)👍

Main thing i dislike about GT3 is the lack of tracks. There just arent many to choose from. IMO anyways.

I love everything about GT3 but it wouldve been sweet if there were a few more tracks. GT4 solved the problem though.

I agree, they consider the backwards version of the same track as a whole new track. Only thing different is (sometimes) the weather and the direction you're driving on the track...

The lack of cars compared to GT2.... im sure a lot of people would have been annoyed to find the leap to next gen had such a big cull.... as GT5 is likely to be!

...dude, seriously. Don't scare us! :scared::nervous:

..but dammit, you're probly right. GT5 will be awesome, but there will be less cars. :indiff: I'm actually okay with this. My only request is that they be somewhat balanced.

In other words, instead of this huge percentage of Japanese cars, there should be 33% Japanese/Asian, 33% American, and 33% European/Australian. But if history proves correct, there will be like 80% Japanese/Asian, 10% American, and 10% Aussie/European. :indiff::mad::banghead:

I started with GT3 so the lack of cars didn't bother me. There's still plenty I haven't driven yet. GT4 gained as many useless cars as the good ones. And really, how many variants of Skylines, Evos, Imprezzas, and Sylvias does the game really need? They could use a first generation RX-7 though.
