what is one thing that you don't like about GT3?

Also, the reason why you won't see a wet-track enduro is because the action wouldn't be too exciting with only one (or was it three?) opponent(s).

If they did a wet enduro surely they could easily have just added more cars

If I recall correctly, the wet courses are near/at the end of the circuit list in arcade mode (if you haven't finished unlocking all of the tracks yet, then just be patient)

That's what I figured :indiff: It's stupid. They should have some Beginner League races on a wet track. Some amateur league...it would be fun. I don't know why they spent time developing a new technology, make you do some license tests on it, then hardly include wet tracks in the game.

But they didn't. So they couldn't. Understand now?

Indeed. Actually, I'd like to see more wet racing in racing sims/games overall.

Do you think it's because Wet tracks are classed as a rally race?
other rally races only involve 2cars and there's no rally-type enduro's, hence no wet enduro?

Yes, I think that is why. Even though the race is on pavement, they for some reason classify wet tracks as "rallies". How retarded is that? 👎 I hope GT4 is better, but I'm not getting my hopes too high. :(

The only thing I didn't like when I played GT3 was that I couldn't play it while I was sleeping? :grumpy:

Seriously though, I hated and I still hate that you can not change wheel and tire sizes. ( I hate that in GT4 as well)

i have a few of complaints here.

1. still only up to 6 cars allowed on the same track

2. i hate the test course

3. they took out my 2 favorite cars in gt2 (toyota gt1 ts020 race car 98) (nissan r390 race car 97)

4. no racing modification

Mine is the fact that you can drive straight in to the Armco at over 200mph, and there isn't a scratch on your car, also your car cant get muddy and has no reversing lights. sorry for being picky but this is the ''ultimate driving simulator''. other than that, it's a great game :)

I've read through this entire topic and found myself nodding in agreement with most of the entries. There is one I'd like to add. The multiple bonus car crap for winning a series. Just give me one, man. And don't make it one that is awarded in another. I saw the pink Vitz mentioned. I earned that car after wininng the FF events in the Beginner league. I won it again after the Vitz series. I won it a third time after the Professional Vitz series. I know all about the save-start-quit-reload trick if you have at least an 11 point lead going into the final race. But, really, that should not be necessary.

Then there is the redundancy of it all. Great, I won the series. My reward? The same car I won the series with.

Power Ratings..why no charts in GT3, I agree! Besides that, has anyone noticed the way they are listed in car specs?
Ok..call me a 'nitpicker', but isn't this the worlds greatest driving simulator known to man? So..Wassup With This ?
Torque as i have known is measured in LB/FT. NOT in FT/LBS as is given on the spec sheets. Unless maybe u wanna know how much effort to pry the lid off ur beer with a screwdriver!!!
Also...Go to any dealership and u can check out given HP and Torque for any car thats sold there. Now, put that car in your garage... Holy Decimals Batman !!! That sweet driving baby..with 447 'ft/lbs of torque'..is now only rated at 44.7 'ft/lbs' at specified RPM!! Cud be.? Naw !!
Great graphics from those PolyDigit guys...but c'mon, details like decimals aren't exactly rocket science now!
Marketing rush..to get the game out into stores? Who said??
OK..I go now!!

Well like someone said above, i hate the multiple car prize system they have. Just to get the car i want it takes an hour because i have to reset start the race over, oop i got a vitz so have to do it again.... Only other thing that i don't like is the loss of the used cars, i liked that because you could find cars that weren't in the new section and also you could get "special" cars on certain days that would appear like in GT2.

PD screwed that up again and again...what you're reading in the garage is the METRIC equivalent to the truth. To find the standard torque you gotta go

44.7 x 2.204 x 3.28=323.14

In GT2 they even screwed up ground clearance so if you had a Silvia with 145 mm of clearance, instead it would say 145 inches!! Hey if I wanted a monster truck I woulda bought Truck Demolition or whatever that game is called. 👎

..anyways, I'm glad someone else gets pissed about the lack of power charts. That was one of the best things about GT 1 & 2 is those dumb charts...it's what sets Gran Turismo apart from other games even further...

i don't have the patience, man. One time I wanted to win the Gulf GT40 MkIV. All I had to do was "save & reload". I was just like "naaaah..." I just wanna be done with the series! ::irked:

Ahhhh! Let there be light! Thanks for the info. on those torque ratings..Glad u set me straight!
Yeah, I noticed those ride heights in GT2. And, track lengths given in 'feet'..when I think they meant meters!!
Still, Gran Turismo is great. Just love GT2 for all its versatility. Wish some of those features were in GT3.
But Hey..its still a great game overall!
Thanks again...this site is Killer!

A lot of these mistakes can't be laid at the door of PD, keep in mind that PD designed and developed the Japanese versions of the GT series, localisation changes (such as power figures, car descriptions, etc) are done by teams in each market and PD simply update the info (that should be correct - but often isn't) into that version of the game. Unfortunately the people who manage this part of the job seem to be a little less car focused than the rest of us.

BTW - An old one here, but I noticed above that PB was wondering why PD only let two cars run on the wet track (same in GT4), the simple answer is that the PS2 is a limiting factor. The reflections form the track alone have to be pushing what the PS2 can do with two cars on track, handling all that for six cars is, I suspect, just a bit more than the poor old PS2 can manage.

Regards

Scaff

Oh - @primus
- Glad to have you on board here at GT Planet, but could I ask that you take a quick look at the AUP again, particularly this part....

AUP
No slang words that promote laziness, ie; "r", "u", "plz", etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums.

....thanks.

Wow, that's cool info about the rally/track reflections. It at least explains why there's only 2 or 4 cars on wet tracks.

Yeah, Primus...it goes like

44.7 (metric torque figure)

multiply by 2.204 (converts metric to pounds)

multiply again by 3.28 (converts metric to feet)

It's amazing I am able to figure out this stuff on my own (as well as logarithms to use on my website.). I'm the guy after all who managed to get drunk in Algebra when I was a freshman. True story. :guilty:

Off-Topic here, but why most cars don't even have over 100Lb Ft of torque? :grumpy:

You know thats a good question. I had never noticed that in the specs before. They had to of messed that up because the real life counter parts have much more than 100lbs for most of them. My F350 only has around 800....god i love diesels:)

What do you mean? In the game? or in general?

He means in the game. I checked the game soon as i read this post and to my amazment, yep hes right. Strange. But then again allot of the cars hp and weights are off also. If they are going to call it a sim racing game they need to get stuff like this right. I don't care about not having reverse lights, thats just stupid as hell to complain about to me. Oh its not a sim because the reverse lights don't work....wankers. But statistics in the game like torque and hp etc. they need to be accurate. At least they have the feel of awd and fwd and rwd's different to where when you are driving an awd you know its one because of the feel of it. Awd cars are very strange to drive if you have never driven one. Friend has a decent 2.5 RS Impreza and i drove it a few times on the track with him. The front wheels pulling while in a turn is a strange feeling if your a bit sideways. Its kind of like your understeering and oversteering at the same time, which in a way you are.

I already answered this on the previous page. The reason torque is low in the garage is cuz it is still stated in METRIC terms. Somebody forgot to convert and you gotta follow the formula above to get the correct (standard) torque.

GT garage torque (metric) x 2.204 x 3.28=Standard torque.

Ohh......... I thought they just put the decimal point next to the wrong digit. Parnelli, you have way too much time on your hands...

Haha, have you checked out his website yet? Very detailed. I figured it was someone that forgot to do there job, it was just too odd.

I just wrote a new review for the Triumph Spitfire (GT4)this weekend. Took maybe an hour and then i re-edited it with new info several times :dopey:

i remember 3 years ago i just bought GT2 and looked at the torque. "that's wrong, way way off" i thought. I had a random thought: "what if that's metric?" i noticed ground clearance was all screwy (inches instead of milimeters) so i figured torque is also screwy.

And there's this website called www.onlineconversion.com that tells you all you need to know about converting just about anything: dollars to yen. Celcius to Fahrenheit. Did they have torque measurements in pound-feet as well as kg/meters? You bet. 👍

Too easy to start. I mean, none of the other GT games let you start out with a Panoz Esperante. If thats not all, I started a new game, and using the Mazda from the B lisence, I got a F688/s from my first race. That should not be possible.
