What members are not getting F5 on day 1?

You know there will be things released along the way to entice us, think I will sock a 100 a month away as I already preordered the game, I want to play something new and gt6 is really going to have to step it up although it will play on my ps3.

I've preordered the Day One edition, even though I won't be getting an Xbox One until sometime next year. Just can't face missing the launch version.

I'm leaning more towards this approach with each day. Maybe some of the news closer to release will change my mind, but at this point, $600 could be better spent that close to the holiday season.

I have a few grand in savings but I'm not buying day one either. Those savings are going towards the Rex, rather than investing in another console right now.

I will be getting both One and Forza 5 at some stage though.

I can't say that I'll get FM5 as I don't really like the xbox one at the moment, I want to wait for Microsoft to have the xbox1 improved and I can't afford a new console at the moment either. I'll be fine though since GT6 and Project Cars are coming out soon, I'll be spending my time playing those games.

It's also a no for me. I'm still having a great time with FM4 and if there is no support for current gen racing wheels, I'm out. I just can't justify dropping another $1000 plus for XBOne, FM5 and a new Fanatec setup. For that money I could get a pretty nice PC and have a hell of a lot more fun with iRacing, AC, PCars, ect with my perfectly fine Fanatec rig.

There really should be some EU mandated standard for all wheels to use the same method, it's not fair on the consumer when Xbox changes yet again with a new console.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft are free to do whatever they want with their console. If it sucks enough, people won't buy it. Fair doesn't come into it.

I've bought every Forza on release day. I even bought FM4 day one after the hugely disappointing AWD glitchfest that was FM3. But won't be doing the same for FM5 for a variety of reasons.

1 - I'm not a fan of the direction of the series since FM2. So many features still missing from the game. Local LB's, in lobby tuning...I could go on and on.

2 - I'm not a fan of their DLC scheme that forces you to buy if you really want to compete.

3 - I'm not a Porsche fan at all, can live without them, but am disgusted by the further money grab they will pull there with the eventual release of a Porsche pack.

4 - Launch game - They're rarely very good in any genre. I think T10 would have been better doing what PD is doing releasing 5 on the 360 and taking their time with a true next gen FM6.

5 - Microsoft's direction. No I don't want or need all the Kinect and online requirement stuff. Nor do I want my game machine to be some kind of super media center. I can get Netflix etc on any device. I want a game machine.

6 - The 360 release - It took them what, 3 years or so, to finally get the 360 right where people didn't have them red ringing every 5 minutes.

I might end up buying it at some point. But MS and T10 more specifically have lost my trust as a day one customer. If people I trust tell me it's great and I need to get it I'll re-evaluate. But I'll let them be the beta testers.

I have to disagree on this one. Forza has already had 3 games on the 360. GT is on its second full game on the PS3 and it's not even out yet. What more performance can T10 get out of the 360? IMO, Forza 4 got as much out the 360 as it could and it's time for Forza to move on to the next generation.

We probably differ on what we want out of a racing game. But from my perspective, I could care less about whether T10 could get more performance out of the 360. In fact, if I were to get my "dream" Forza it would be FM4's physics, with all the missing online features of FM2 that I alluded to, and the car clubs from FM1 with a whole new selection of tracks. It doesn't take more power from the system to deliver that.

And my larger point is that usually launch games just aren't very good when compared to the games that release a year or two later as developers learn how to push the limits of the hardware. So my feeling is, that FM5 will be a disappointment to many, where FM6 will be the true next gen game.

I would normally agree with you if it weren't for all of the E3 impressions saying that Forza 5 is the definition of a true next-gen game. Granted, they may be basing this more on graphics, but it still sounds impressive nonetheless.

I understand. A better console doesn't automatically mean a better game. But I just want to see what Turn 10 could do with a more powerful system, like adding weather and night racing. However, like you said, we won't see what Forza is truly capable of on the Xbox One until FM6. That game is sure to have those features that couldn't be in FM5 due to time.

That would be my guess as well that it's mostly based on graphics. And I admit, some of the screenshots I've seen are impressive graphically. But for me, graphics are far down the list of importance in terms of what makes a racing game. I'd still be playing the graphically awful Race Pro if it wasn't full of glitches and had multiplayer that worked. As I'm sure many others would as well. And that game looked more like a game on the first Xbox than one that was made for the 360.

I do hope it is some kind of amazing next gen racing experience. If it is, I'm sure it'll find it's way into my home quickly. But I'm just not willing to gamble the kind of money it's going to take just to be left with another disappointing racing game.

I dont remember any cars that happened to overpower the cars already on disc. I know there was one race car, I think the Merc? I forget. Thats the only one I know of though.

To be honest, the price was good for the amount of cars on the pack. You cant really blame them though as it wasnt possible to have them when the game released.

Also, I remember getting my pack for 800 points($10).

6 - The 360 release - It took them what, 3 years or so, to finally get the 360 right where people didn't have them red ringing every 5 minutes.
I had my first xbox 06/07 and had it probably for about a year or two before I switched to the PS3(only switched because most of my friends had it,not because I didnt like the 360), and it never red ringed once. Got my second xbox about a year and a half ago. A used Fat Elite, and that still hasnt red ringed on me at all. Although, its a fresh system so I can understand some peoples concerns. As for me, the trackrecord for me has been just fine.

Your other points I dont really mind, as they are understandable to me.

For me the only reason why I won't be getting F5 on day 1 is because of the price ofnthe X1. If it were $399 I'd probably consider it but for the time being I'm going to wait for a price drop. Additionally, I'm still happy with my 360 and there are some awesome games coming to this console within the next few months.

Have the Day One editions of both the Xbox One and FM5 reserved. Very eager to get this. I sold my driving rig a while ago because I was a bit too busy with some other hobbies. I plan on redoing one with the new Xbox One Thrustmaster wheel. Can't wait!

On the first point, I am referring to hotlapping where by the end of the game most of the absolute fastest "leaderboard" cars will be DLC. To be fair, FM4 had less of that than FM3 and FM2 did, but still has quite a number of DLC cars you're going to need if you want to compete on the leaderboards. The Sauber being one, that crappy old Ford in A class, the Porsche 550 are a few that come to mind. Then there was the Rivals mode, which was a great addition, but it ended up turning into a mostly DLC thing every month. If you didn't have the car, no rivals event for you.

The Porsche pack is part of that as well. If you wanted to compete on the overall Rivals rollup board you were forced to buy the Porsche pack due to the added Porsche only events. Then there was all the blaming of EA and all the licence excuse making, only to have them turn around a few months later and magically get the license so they could sell the pack. A pack which was largely just cars they had been in the game before. I don't mind DLC. But when I feel it's being forced on me to remain competitive in a game, or when it smells like a transparent cash grab it gets under my skin.

And you were one of the lucky ones as far as red rings. I went through 5 different faulty regular 360's. 3 red rings and 2 with bad DVD drives before I eventually ended up with a elite that (knock on wood) still runs today.

You're aware that they didn't manage to get the license at all for FM5? EA has been known to be difficult with the Porsche license in the past. It's less of a surprise that they lost it and more of a wonder T10 ever got it out of them in the first place.

No disrespect, but I'm pretty sure if I went back and read stuff leading up to FM4 I'd see a million posts just like this. EA this and Porsche license that only to magically get get that unattainable license months later. To me, it seems naive to think FM5 will be any different. These are mega corporations and anytime they think they can squeeze their customers and get away with it...they will.

On the Porsche pack: I agree that it might as well be a scheme to make some easy Dollars off of the player base. However, I'd also say that it was one of the best DLC packs for FM4, in terms of value. Not exactly what I'd imagine MS to do if all they wanted was to make some quick cash.

In the end, it won't really matter. The whole DLC scheme for Forza in and off itself is pretty expensive and that will only get worse.

Leading up to FM4 there was a lot of will we/won't we before they finally called it that Porsche wouldn't be in.

Porsche has never even been on the table for FM5. Not a big difference, admittedly.

But the assumption is that for FM4 the work had already been done before EA bent them over, so they'd lose less by at least getting the DLC out whatever it took. For FM5, if they knew from day one that Porsche was going to be drama, they may have just not even started work.

Maybe so. I think it was a dirty move in FM4 to put it as DLC.

But then again, I own FM4 and didn't buy the Porsche pack. And Luminis is right that it was by far and away the best value of the FM4 DLC. Remember that it's always an option if you don't like their business practises. As you say, if they're making money then they'll keep on doing it.

I have Forza 5 pre ordered, and the evening of the X box One release, I plan to be flying around Spa and then posting up photos. I know I'm going to get it, so why am I holding out? I do think the wheel situation is a flat out shame though, hope it gets solved equitably.

FM5 LE pre-ordered and paid for.
Hoping to get XBONE day1 edition somewhere but if not, no biggie.
I usually settle on one console per gen for the 1st few years and this time it happens to not be a sony product.

I'm not for two reasons. The minor reason is I want to see what the car count/list is, and the major reason is I don't have $500+ to spend on a new system.

Course, I'm one to buy my systems when they're down in price; bought both my PS3 and 360 for $250 several years after they were released.

I wish I was getting one but it just isn't going to happen. Don't have the funds for it is the main reason. The other reason is I'm still waiting on news if my Fanatec will work with the Xbox One.

If GT6 wasnt coming out this year, and I knew for a fact that my GT2 wheel was compatible, then maybe I would give in and get the XB1 and FM5. I really do wanna experience the next gen of gaming asap, but I am gonna control my urge and bide my time for now. Though I'm sure I will be banging my head once I start seeing vids and photos of it.
