Yeah, we live in degenerate times, and in general art suffers. Just watched a recent movie which was an exception to this, Dope, not great, but pretty fresh. I love nerds, and great music, and this has both, overlaying a rather ordinary story. Nice to watch.

Just watched "About Time", which is probably the best movie featuring Rachel McAdams marrying a time traveller. Not difficult, since there are only two of them.

Granted, there are a lot of plot holes riddled throughout the movie, and the robustness of the Time Travel mechanic is poorly executed... there are a million things done that should have changed history irrevocably but didn't... I have ideas of how the protagonist reversed the irreversible, but the Russian Nesting Doll conundrum of jumps upon jumps upon jumps was never reconciled.

Still, the movie presents a very mature, very well-rounded examination of love, family and relationships, wrapped around a light fantasy premise and sprinkled with comedy here and there. And the message is a bit more positive and less depressingly shackled to unwavering causality as "The Time Traveller's Wife".

Started a bit slow, and could have used more comedy near the end, but it's a refreshingly human rom-com with well-fleshed out characters, in the way only the Brits seem to be able to make.

7.5/10. Good date movie. But only for marriageable dates.

Saw Zoolander No. 2 today (for some reason Argentina gets the movies earlier than USA).

I didn't like it. Without going into any specifics, I felt the movie relied too much on the jokes from the first one. This is the same issue I had with the latest Star Wars, and unsurprisingly, just as I couldn't be amazed by something I had seen before, I can't laugh at a joke I've laughed at before.

It's one of those sequels that shouldn't have existed in the first place, because no matter how hard you try to forget them, you can't expect to think "Zoolander was awesome but the sequel ruined it".

If your significant other wants you to see this movie be sure to get drunk and take sleeping pills first. It was my wife's choice for Valentines Day.

If you take every horrible romance cliche and stuff it into a single package you will get this.

There is one scene where the guy is at the girl's house, looking at a shelf of pictures of her growing up back home. She's obviously from a rich family, so he says, "All she's missing is the silver spoon," then looks over and picks up a silver spoon that he didn't see off to the side. He looks at it and says, "Guess not."

To add insult to injury, my wife slept through it.

Finally got around to watching John Wick.

I wonder... was John Wick the director? Because it was very well executed.

Ex_Machina 👍👍

Great movie, very smart dialogue. This movie tackles so much about artificial intelligence, and it does it with some of the most intelligent AI dialogue I have come across. I've listened to TED talks and seminars on the subject that were less informed. I have no idea where the writers for this came from, but they knew the subject well enough to create a really thoughtful film.

It's also a beautiful film. The cinematography is wonderful, it creates a real immersive atmosphere, and that's worth a lot in my book. The sound is great, the acting is great, the dialog is great, and the scenery is great. One of the best films I have seen in quite some time.

Mature audiences only.

Mad Max: Fury Road
It deserves the Oscars it was awarded for costumes etc and it was an entertaining watch (a film will always score more than 5 if I can make it all the way through) but as for the premise... well I don't even.

Saw Amy last night, which is the documentary based movie on Amy Winehouse, from the same guy who did 'Senna' it features unseen footage and interviews from her friends, family and colleagues etc, and it charts her entire life, great film, well produced, fantastic soundtrack!

Zootopia (9/10)

It's another great Disney film. A rabbit from a small farming community becomes the first rabbit officer in the big city of Zootopia's police force. She stumbles on to a case where formerly predator animals are returning to their savage ways and animosity grows between the predator and prey species. Can she save the day before fear-powered bigotry tears their society apart?

Zootopia is a good film. Very good. In fact, I only found one plot hole that hurts the overall story. I believe this is getting more praise than it should, though. Their timing for release was very fortuitous in this current political climate. It is heavy on the racism and bigotry message. However, it isn't targeted at Trump, as it also has a scene where someone stating the facts as they are known are attacked for making racist statements.

It points out the bigotry found in both racism and political correctness. That is what makes it great. It proclaims the benefits of a society where everyone can get along and work together instead of just blaming each other for society's problems.

It also works well for the whole family. The jokes for adults are there but not leaving kids lost. The trailer shows the DMV run by sloths. That's a perfect example. The sight gags are great for kids, but it hits a different level for adults.

Anyway, go see it. It looks good in 3D and is just a fun movie. Find a kid to take (if you go alone you might look creepy) and go see it.

Damn you... now I can't write my own review...

Agree with everything. I like how it's also reverse-racist, in a way, in which the physically more powerful members of society are disenfranchised by public hysteria over racial attacks.

The political correctness issue might fly over some audience members' heads, though... but it was a reminder that however uncomfortable it is to tell the truth, the truth must be told, sometimes.

Transcendence.

I liked the premise of having a conscious AI super computer. The stuff turned into fluff later down the road. Not such a good movie. First it was computer not having feelings, but later it turns out computer actually did(?), so yeah confused plot is confused.

Pandorum

Some people wake up in a spaceship, that was sent to put humanity on another planet. They wake up, without their memories and have to reactivate the ships core. But there are aliens on board that eat akd kill people.....

Although not very original, the underlying story has some premise, but the movie is a bit of a mess and show a lot of cliches. It was fun to watch, but not great.

7/10

The Drop

Starring Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini, it centres around organised crime in Brooklyn - using a bar as a "drop" to move money around. Tom Hardy finds a battered puppy in Noomi Rappace's trash can which then infinitely complicates things, especially as her violent ex becomes involved. An enjoyable watch, but the ending is somewhat guessable quite early on. Nonetheless, Tom Hardy caring for a Pitbull puppy is absolutely adorable and overall the film is worth 7/10.

Highwaymen

Starring Jim Caviezel, a 2004 revenge film where JC is hunting the man who killed his wife in a hit and run incident several years prior. The chap in question spends his time travelling from state to state, just to kill women with his car. Because reasons. Some nice muscle car and chase action, lots of blood and people getting hit by cars, as you'd expect but it's decently entertaining all the way through and being relatively short at 1hr 17mins, it doesn't drag at all, the story moves on nicely. Also has a decent relatively twisty ending. Another 7/10.

Hotel Transylvania 2:
Lost some of it's newness from the first one. That is, until the end scenes. Sometimes, when movies add kids to what was/is pretty much young adult comedy, it becomes stale(I'm talking about you Spider-Man trilogy). 7/10

Spectre:
I'm 2hours in and it's had its good moments. At one stage, I thought they were in Addis Ababa having just discovered something.

Craig is the best Bond full stop.

Mankind's Last Stand/Outpost 37/Alien Outpost (the title depends which part of the world you are in)

Semi-low budget but solid in it's execution. It reminded me of The Objective in its overall feel and also had something of Monsters: Dark Continent to it too - though the latter's case that was due to it being about a military unit based in the Middle-East - of course the story was different.

There was one plot flaw I felt, but that aside it all held together very well and the film felt longer than its running time, in a good way. The characterisation was good too and I felt I could identify with them, especially the base commander.

Alien Outpost
I've seen it in passing on Netflix but couldnt bring myself to pull the trigger on watching it. Should I reconsider?

Last night I watched Justice League: War. I wanted to like it, obviously, but there were a number of things that bothered me about it. Most notably was both Green Lantern and Superman wanting to kill Batman right out of the gate, coupled with jokes like "Wait, Batman's real?!?" I wasn't terribly impressed with the voice actors, either, quite possibly because some of them aren't voice actors so they weren't nearly as polished.

5/10

If you enjoyed The Objective or Monsters: Dark Continent then I'd say definitely yes. I mean, the Netflix average score is low, but I've found that I really enjoy many of those films, despite their apparent unpopularity.

RocknRolla

A Guy Ritchie film, typical British East End gangster type thing. Staring Gérard Butler and Gerald from The Full Monty, it's supposed to be a comedic violent thriller type thing. I kept the film on but lost interest in it very quickly, mainly because I didn't have a clue what was going on. Something about a painting I think? Some fun fight scenes and an Audi has a hunting knife put through the roof by someone clinging on the top whilst it's in motion. Gerald seems to annoy some other blokes but I'm not really sure why. There are a lot of characters who all look and dress the same so working out who is who is quite tricky. Tom Hardy plays "Bob" and I couldn't even work him out... I'm sure those who know me are aware when Tom Hardy is involved I pay lots of attention ;) Anyway, this confusing and seemingly pointless jumble musters a 2/10 because Tom Hardy drives some cars and has a skinhead.

Zootopia.

As normal a Disney animal movie that was good and funny, One part of the film was like WTF, but then again I was thinking too much into it while this scene was funny it had the logical part of me going nope.avi

I went by myself and it didn't seem that creepy to the staff when i got the ticket.
But there were only 5 people(A dad, his kid, a korean couple and me) in the theater, but I did make a habit of seeing the 7:10 screening(had to see this screening than the later 8:10 as this had audio description and closed captioning) to avoid being surrounded by children who would scream and ask questions to their parents.

If your cinema has ticket dispensing machines where you select what movie and child or adult tickets and pay via eftpos you can avoid some possible steers that some may give

No shame in watching it alone. I thought it was a pretty good buddy cop light comedy that could probably be adopted to live-action. But the anti-racism message probably would come off as more heavy-handed if it were.

Some people who are small minded think cartoons are for children.

I planned to watch this since I first saw the trailer as I knew it would be funny and very good.

So many movies are coming out that are very good that I plan to watch

Kung Fu Panda 3
Captain America Civil War
Startrek 3
Sly Cooper
Secret life of pets.
Was planning on seeing Ice Age 5but judging from the plot on wiki, it wont be that good as it seems that they have run out of ideas and just make a lame attempt at it.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is a hit-or-miss thing. Not quite as well-rounded as the first and second movies. Still some good choreography, but the humor and action take a back seat to character development that I'm not sure is necessary by the third installment. It retreads too much ground from the first two movies, and it's hard to get worked up by the stakes when you know (just from the trailers) that the villain's super-army is going to face an army of cuddly pandas.

A good kid's movie, but me and the wife were left a bit disappointed. It's not horrible, but not as memorable as the previous installments. It's also a bit slow and lean on action... at least the animation and visual design is still kick-ass.

It's an awesome movie. JC's Barracuda is badass. I applaud the film makers choice for all the cars.

and i like how it seem like that horror movie where the survivor is a damsel in distress and the one who is an expert at things he do will get killed towards the end but this actually had the both of them work together to kill the bad guy.

Zootopia, Again
Because being Easter Sunday, shops are closed and buy any food and watch one of my movies and because I was bored, So Yeah.
